5.Airway Neutrophil Activation and Protease Imbalance in Airway of Children with Foreign-Body Aspiration
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1994;0(04):-
Objective To observe neutrophil activation and protease imbalance in airway of children after foreign-body aspiration(FBA).Methods Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) was obtained through fiberoptic bronchoscopy. The supernatant was assayed for the concentration of neutrophil elastase(NE) using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and elastase inhibition capacity(EIC)/free elastase activity using a colorimetric assay. The cell pellet were smeared for the expression of ?1-antitrypsin(?1-AT) using cellular immunohisto-chemistry and cytologic analysis by Wright-Giemsa stain. Results Percentage of neutrophil, concentration of NE and the expression of ?1-AT in BLAF group, pair group and pneumonia group significantly increased compared with that of control group(Pa0.05).The ratio of Lib NE in FBA,par and peumcria group was 30.3%,27.3% and 22.7%.Conclusions FBA induces similar airway neutrophil activation and protease imbalance to bacterial pneumonia. The contralateral airway showes the same change as the foreign body side.

Microbiology 1992;0(05):-
In order to compare the characteristics of ethano l production, a serie s respiratory deficient mutants (rho -) of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the ir wil d parent strain (rho +) were assayed for ethanol yield, ethanol fermentation ki netics, ethanol tolerance, and activities of ethanol-dehydrogenase. The data i nd icated that: Though the average amount of ethanol produced by mutants rho - a nd by wild rho + strains were similar, some mutants produced a little more amount of ethanol than wild type. The kinetics curve of ethanol fermentation suggested t h at rho - mutants had a little higher ethanol fermenting speeds than wild type . Th e activity of ethanol-dehydrogenase per unit weight of protein of rho - mutan ts c ells were higher than that of wild strain rho +; the activity of ethanol-dehyd rogenase per unit volume of fermentation medium of rho + were higher than that rho - mutants, mainly due to the higher biomass of rho + were higher than that of rho - mutan ts. Some rho - mutants could tolerate higher ethanol concentration than wild rh o + stra in, but some not. If higher ethanol tolerance and higher ethanol yield rho - mu tants were used in fermenting process, higher ethanol yield would be expected, but some problems such as that rho - mutants grew slowly should be considered.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy and safety of Guizhi fuling capsule combined with mifepristone in treatment of uterine fibroids. METHODS:116 patients with uterine fibroids were randomly divided into control group and observation group. Control group was orally given Mifepristone tablet 25 mg,2 h before meal in the first day of menstrual period, once a day,for con-tinuous 10 d;observation group was additionally given Guizhi fuling capsule 3 pills in non-menstrual period,3 times a day. 3 months was regarded as a treatment course,it lasted 2 courses. Clinical efficacy, and E2,FSH,SHBG,uterine volume, menstrual blood volume, uterine fibroid volume and incidence of adverse reactions in 2 groups before and after treatment were observed. RE-SULTS:Total effective rate in observation group was significantly higher than control group, the difference was statistically signifi-cant(P<0.05). After treatment, the FSH,E2,uterine volume, menstrual blood volume and uterine fibroid volume in 2 groups were significantly lower than before, and observation group was lower than control group, the differences were statistically signifi-cant(P<0.05);but there were no significant difference in the SHBG and adverse reactions between 2 groups(P>0.05). CONCLU-SIONS:The clinical efficacy of Guizhi fuling capsule combined with mifepristone in treatment of uterine fibroids is more signifi-cant than mifepristone alone, with good safety.

Objective To explore the characteristic and clinical value of Somatosensory Evoked Potential SEP and event?related potential P300 in patients with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (JME), trying to provide neuroelectrophysiological evidence for the pathogenesis, diagnosis and antiepileptic drug efficacy of this disease . Methods 28 patients with JME and 30 healthy controls were enrolled in the research. They were applied the SEP and P300 before and after one year treatment. Results (1) The amplitude of SEP in patients with JME was significantly higher than those in the control group(P=0.000), the abnormal rate was 75%(21/28), while the latency of SEP was no significant difference (P>0.05); The latency of P300 in patients with JME was significantly longer (P = 0.000), 2 out of 28 cases were poorly differentiated, 9 cases were longer (11/28, 39%), while the P300 amplitude was no significant difference(P=0.110). (2) After treatment, the amplitude of SEP was significantly lower (P<0.05), the latency of P300 was significantly shorter (P=0.001). (3) The amplitude of SEP had a positively linear relationship with the latency of P300 (r = 0.818, P = 0.000). Conclusions The SEP amplitude was significantly higher in patients with JME, often accompanied by a huge SEP, so SEP can provide electrophysiological evidence for the pathogenesis and diagnosis of this disease. And P300 may give a chance to find the subclinical cognitive abnormalities and to intervent it early. The SEP had a positively linear relationship with the P300, simultaneously dynamic monitoring the change of SEP amplitude and P300 latency may become an objective evaluation for the antiepileptic drug efficacy.
