4.Level and significance of Interleukin-10 and Interferon-? secreted by peripheral blood mononuclear cells in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus

Objective To investigate interleukin 10 (IL 10,Th2 type cytokines) and interferon gamma (IFN ?,Th1 type cytokines) secreting capacity by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in 30 patients with systemic lupus erythematousus (SLE) and 10 healthy individuals,and try to understand the role of Th1/Th2 balance in the pathogenesis of SLE.Method Sandwich ELISA was used to measure IL 10 and IFN ? level in the supernatant of culture from PBMCs.Results The level of IL 10 produced spontaneously by PBMCs in active stage was significantly higher than in static phase and healthy person ( P 0 05).Conclusion These data suggest that the Th2 type cytokine (IL 10) was increased in patients with SLE,and an imbalance towards Th2 predominance may play a significant role in the pathogenesis of SLE.Regulating IL 10 level may provide a new approach for the treatment of SLE.
5.Clinical study on thalidomide alone or combined with dexamethasone in the treatment of relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma

Purpose:To investigate the effects and side- ef fects of thalidomide in the treatment of relapsed and refractory multiple myelom a (MM).Methods:There were thirteen men and two women aged 33~7 6 (median 58) years in thalidomide alone group. Two cases were newly diagnosed my eloma; twelve of them were refractory myeloma, including three relapsed cases wh o had experienced autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (AutoPBS CT); another one is primary plasma cell leukemia. The starting dose was 100mg/d, escalating up to a maximum of 800mg/d. The combination group included twenty me n and seven women aged 40~81 (median 56) years of which case was newly diagnose d myeloma; twenty-five cases were refractory myeloma, two of whom relapsed after AutoPBSCT; another one was primary plasma cell leukemia. Dexamethasone 40mg/d w as used at d 1-4 , d 9-12 , d 17-20 when the dose of thalidomide increased to 400mg/d. Each cycle lasted for one month.Results: The total response rate was 42.9% and 57.7% in thalidomide alone group and in co mbination group, respectively. The response rate in refractory patients was 33.3 % and 44.0% in thalidomide alone group and in combination group, respectively. T here was no difference between the two groups in response rates. Both of the two groups had side effects of constipation and skin rash, etc. in different degree s but usually tolerable. Conclusions:Both thalidomide alone and thalidomide combined with dexamethasone was effective in the treatment of relap sed and refractory MM.

Methods The ICR mice were orally perfused with sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) at different concentrations of 2.5,5.0 and 10 mg/kg and lead acetate [Pb(Ac)2] at different concentrations of 5,10 and 25 mg/kg jointly and con-tinuously for 3 days, and then the numbers of bone marrow polychromative erythrocytes were counted. 7.Computerized Data Management Pattern of Drug Storehouse in Our Hospital

OBJECTIVE:To improve the efficiency and accuracy in database management of drug storehouse.METH?ODS:The computerized database management pattern of drug storehouse in the hospital where the authors work was intro?duced as follows:the account books of storehouse in-and out-record as well as invoice payments were established in Excel by computers,and these drug storehouse data were managed with the support of‘Military Health No.1’system.RESULTS&CONCLUSION:The established pattern can fill in the gap in‘Military Health No.1’system and improve the database man?agement of drug storehouse in hospital.
8.Reconstruction of facial nerve defect in parotidectomy of parotid carcinoma using sternocleidomastoid muscle-great auricular nerve flap

Objective To develop the clinical application and the method for functional repair in fa- cial nerve defect in parotideetomy of parotid carainoma.Methods Defect of facial nerve in parotidectomy was repaired by transplantation of sternocleidomastoid muscle-great auricular nerve flap with anastomosis of great auricular nerve-facial nerve under microscope.Results Eight eases of facial nerve defect in parotid carcinoma were repaired by this method.The facial nerve function almost recovered and access to normal dur- ing 3 to 6 month after operation in this series.6 of 8 patients achieved a gradeⅡ,2 of 8 patients achieved a gradeⅢ.Conclusion Reconstruction of facial nerve defect using sternocleidomastoid muscle-great auricu- lar nerve flap can provide better blood supply for the plerosis and regeneration of nerve.The nerve flap also ac- celerate the functional recovery after nerve grafting.
9.Effects of Heying Anxin Fang on cardiac function and intracellular Ca~(2+) concentration in cadiocyte of chronic congestive heart failure rats

Objective: To study the e ects of Heying Anxin Fang on cardiac function and intracellular Ca2+ concentration in cadiocyte of chronic congestive heart failure rats. Methods: Animal models of heart failure were induced by subcutaneous injection of a large dose of ISO, and were randomly divided into model group, Shenmai injection group, captopril group, high, middle and low dosages of Heyinganxin Fang group and normal group with 9 in each group. To determine the indexes of LVSP, LVEDP, +dp/dtmax ,-dp/dtmax and heart weight, and determine Ca2+ concentration in cardiomyocytes by ow cytometer. 10.Analysis on 1 145 Cases of Adverse Drug Reactions in Our Hospital

OBJECTIVE: To probe into the status quo of adverse drug reactions (ADR) in our hospital. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was applied to analyze 1 145 ADR cases reported in our hospital from Jan. 2004 to Mar. 2009. RESULTS: Male to female ratio was 1.52 ∶ 1. 68.91% of cases were induced by intravenous infusion and 33.62% of cases were induced by antibiotics. Organs and systems involved in ADR of cases were skin and its appendants (29.96%) and digestive system (26.81%), etc. CONCLUSION: In the clinic the indication of the use of antibiotics should be strictly controlled as well as utilization TCM preparation and solvent collocation. The intravenous infusion frequency and the category of injection also should be controlled.
