1.Postoperative radiotherapy and prognostic factors of soft tissue sarcoma
Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 1992;0(04):-
Objective To study the effectiveness of postoperative radiotherapy and prognostic factors of soft tissue sarcoma. Methods Sixty-four soft tissue sarcoma patients admitted from June 1987 to May 1997 were treated by complete, partial or extended resection and postoperative external beam radiotherapy. Fourty-eight patients received 1.8~2.0?Gy/fraction,5 f/w, to a dose of 40~72?Gy (median 60?Gy). Sixteen patients received 1.2~1.5?Gy/f, bid, 6 hr interval to a dose of 64.8~85.0?Gy (median 66.5?Gy). The 5-year survival and locoregional control rates were estimated by Kaplan-Meier method. Logrank test and Cox regression were used to study the significance of predictive factors. Results The overall 5-year survival and locoregional control rates were 60.2%, 57.9% respectively. Those of the conventional group and hyperfractionated group were 54.3% and 61.9% vs 64.3% and 42.9% ,respectively. Cox regression analysis showed that histologic grade, size and site of the primary tumor, fractionation of radiotherapy were independent prognostic factors for survival. Conclusions Complete or extended resection followed by radiotherapy are satisfactory for soft tissue sarcoma. Histologic grade , size, site of the primary tumor and method of fractionation were prognostic factors.

Journal of International Oncology 2010;37(9):715-718
Objective To measure the expression of Caspase-3 and P-gp in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and adjacent tissues, and to examine these two proteins' relationships with HCC clinical and pathological characteristics and the associations between the two proteins. Methods The expression of Caspase-3 and P-gp were measured in 50 HCC tissues and adjacent tissues by EnvisionTM immunohistochemistry. HCC clinic and pathological characteristics and follow-up data were also collected and analyzed. Results The expression of Caspase-3 in HCC tissues was significantly lower than that in adjacent tissues(P <0.05). The expression of Caspase-3 in HCC tissues was significantly associated with HCC's Edmonson grade and the presence of hepatitis envelope(P <0.05). On the other hand, the expression of P-gp in HCC tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues( P <0.05 ). P-gp expression in HCC tissues was significantly correlated with HCC's Edmonson grade and the presence of cirrhosis(P < 0.05 ). The expression of Caspase-3 and P-gp was negatively correlated ( r = - 0. 600,P = 0.000). A better prognosis was observed among HCC patients with either positive Caspase-3 expression or negative P-gp expression(P < 0.05). Conclusion Caspase-3 may promote apoptosis and inhibit the development of HCC, while P-gp may have an anti-apoptosis function and play a role in HCC's drug resistance. P-gp can inhibit the function of Caspase-3 and an absence or low expression of Caspase-3 may be related to apoptosis resistance and multidrug resistance.

Objective To observe the effects of Compound Uncaria Hypotensive Tablets on expressions of MCP-1 and MMP-9 of vascular remodeling in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR); To discuss it possible mechanism of action. Methods Totally 24 12-week old male SHR were randomly divided into SHR model group, Compound Uncaria Hypotensive Tablets group, and positive medicine group, with 8 rats in each group. Another 8 WKY rats were set as normal control group. Medication groups were given relevant medicine for gavage for successive 6 weeks. Noninvasive tail cuff method was used to observe blood pressure; morphological changes in thoracic aorta and renal artery were observed by HE staining; immunohistochemistry was used to detect the protein expressions of MCP-1 and MMP-9 in thoracic aortic wall. Results Protein expressions of MCP-1 and MMP-9 in thoracic aortic wall of SHR model group were significantly higher than those of normal control group (P<0.01); Compared with the SHR model group, protein expressions of MCP-1 and MMP-9 in thoracic aortic wall decreased significantly in the medication groups (P<0.05, P<0.01); Compared the Compound Uncaria Hypotensive Tablets group and positive medicine group, there was no obvious difference in protein expressions of MCP-1 and MMP-9 in thoracic aortic wall. Conclusion Compound Uncaria Hypotensive Tablets can reduce the blood pressure of SHR, reduce inflammation reaction, and regulate vascular remodeling, which mechanism may be related to down-regulation of expressions of MCP-1 and MMP-9 in SHR aortic endothelial cells.

OBJECTIVE:
To examine the value of self-treatment for Posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV). The treatment effect was compared between patients treated with modified Epley in outpatient clinic combined with self treatment at home and patients treated by modified Epley alone.
METHOD:
A randomized controlled trial were carried out in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University from December 2012 to May 2013. 147 out of 150 patients with unilateral idiopathic BPPV-PSC were enrolled in follow-up. Among which, 73 patients were allocated in modified Epley-alone group and 74 were allocated in slef-treatment group.
RESULT:
The success rate was 53.4% in modified Epley-alone group vs 83.8% in self-treatment group (P < 0.01) after 1 week treatment. In the modified Epley-alone group, the success rate of hand repositioning group and chair-assisted repositioning group was 45.9% vs 61.1% (P > 0.05), the risk rate was 0.752, 95% CI (0.486 - 1.163). In the self-treatment group, the success rate of hand repositioning group and chair-assisted repositioning group was 87.5% vs 81.0% (P > 0.05), the risk rate was 1.081, 95% CI (0.888-1.316). Incidence rate of serious complications was 0% in the modified Epley-alone group and 1.3% in the self-treatment group (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Complementary self-treatment with modified Epley maneuver treated PC-BPPV sooner and more effectively, Compared with modified Epley maneuver alone. And its incidence rate of serious complications didn't increase. Chair-assisted repositioning showed better result than hand repositioning alone, and self-treatment at home can reduce the effect of the gap. We found that complementary self-treatment with modified Epley maneuver had more benefits for patients with PC-BPPV.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(2):130-134
Background The establishment of diabetic animal model is a crucial step for the study about diabetic eye diseases. At present, the main modeling method include the injection of streptozotocin and alloxan. But the shortcoming of the former is an expensive price, and that of the later is high death rate of animals. Objective This experiment was to discuss the way which decrease the death of alloxan-injected animal and explore the effects of high blood glucose on the posterior capsular opacification (PCO). Methods Forty clean healthy male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 2 groups. 90mg/kg of alloxan were injected via ear vein once in 20 rabbits to create the diabetic animal models, and the equivalent amount of normal saline solution was injected at the same way as normal blood glucose group. The successful models were selected in the animals with the blood glucose level over 12. 0 mmol/L two weeks later, and PCO of lens were graded based on the method of Odrieh under the slit lamp. Extracapsular lens extraction was then performed on the right eye of rabbits in both groups, and the posterior capsules were obtained from these eyes at the 6th, 10th and 14th days after operation. The expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA ) in posterior capsular lens epithelial cell was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The modeling successful rate was 70% after injection of alloxan. The body weight of rabbits in high blood glucose group was significantly lowed and the blood glucose was significantly elevated in comparison with normal blood glucose group ( all P<0. 05). Two weeks after surgery ,2 eyes occurred 2 grade of PCO and only one eye showed the 1 grade of PCO in the high blood glucose group. However, 1 grade of PCO was found in 3 eyes in the normal blood glucose group. Biopsy revealed that PCNA was positively expressed in the cell nuclei of LECs in high blood glucose group rather than the normal blood glucose group from the 10th day after surgery. The proliferation index of PCNA was 0. 86±0. 04 and 0. 25±0. 03 respectively in high blood glucose group and normal blood glucose group, showing a significant difference between them (t = -16. 171 ,P = 0. 000). Conclusion Stable diabetic models of rabbits can be created by intravenous injection of 90 mg/kg alloxan. High blood glucose level is one of the important factors for the development of PCO.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2005;25(4):324-326
OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical effect of Erigeron injection (El) on positive expression rate of CD62p in platelet and content of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in serum of patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI).
METHODSSixty-eight patients with ACI were randomly divided into the treated group (n = 35) and the control group (n = 33). Conventional treatment were given to both groups, and EI 40 ml/d were given additionally to the treated group, the treatment course for both groups was 15 days. The positive expression of platelet CD62p and the serum TNF-alpha and IL-6 in patients before and after treatment were determined with flow cytometric (FCM) and electrochemical-luminescence (ECL) techniques respectively.
RESULTSThe total curative effect in the treated group were significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Levels of platelet CD62p and serum TNF-alpha and IL-6 in ACI patients before and after treatment were significant higher than those in the healthy group (P < 0.05), all the three parameters were significantly decreased after treatment, and the lowering in the treated group was more significant than that in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe effect of El on ACI patients may relate to its action in down-regulating the expression of platelet CD62p, alleviating the immune response and inflammatory injury of central nervous system induced by cytokines.
