Benign and malignant compression fracture of vertebrae are common diseases in clinic. Because their therapies are different,it is important to identify them. At present, MRI is the main means in discriminating benign and malignant compression fracture of vertebrae. Sometimes the change of MRI signal in them is overlap, therefore, it is difficult to diagnose accurately. In the recent years, with the appearance of MRI new technology, people have already applied it to work out the difficulty.

Objective To investigate the retinal toxicity and verify the safe dose of intravitreal injection of nonsteroid anti inflamatory drug, diclofenac sodium. Methods Twenty eight healthy adult white rabbits were divided at random into 7 groups and received in every right eye the intravitreal injection of a single dose of diclofenac sodium solution ranging from 0.4～1.0 mg/0.1ml respectively,the left eyes were regarded as control ones. Before injection and on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th day after injection the electroretinography on both eyes was examined. On the 28th day after injection the retinas of two rabbits of every group were examined by using light microscopy. On the 10th and 30th day after injection the retinal tissues around the optic nerve disk of two eyes from every group at random were tested by using transmission electron microscopy. Results The ratio of amplitude of b wave of electroretinography in 0.4 mg and 0 5 mg groups had no significant difference from groups before injection,the retinal tissues showed no structural changes in light and electron microscopy examination. Objective Investigation and analysis of intelligence and psychomotor function in children born after implementingt universal salt iodization(USI). Methods Historical serious illness areas of water iodine below 10μg/L were selected as study sites, water iodine in 50 - 100 μg/L in the historical non-endemic areas were as control points in Henan, 2008. Cluster sampling was used to select children aged 6 - 15 years as observing subjects,IQ were measured with CRT- Man Test(CRT-C2). A "Tianjin Medical psychomotor test battery" (JPB) was carry out to test psychomotor function. Results In IDD regions 230 children were surveyed post-USI and 1284 children preUSI. The IQs post and pre USI were 99.3 and 99.9, respectively, and the proportion of IQ ≤69 were 2.17%(6/230) and 2.80%(36/1284), respectively. In non-IDD regions 650 children were surveyed post-USI and 2079children pre-USI. The IQs post and pre USI were 95.3 and 93.8, respectively, and the proportion of IQ ≤ 69 were 2.31%(15/650) and 3.37%(70/2079), respectively. In IDD regions, the abnormal rate of T scores and damage index post USI were 3.6%(2/56), 5.3%(3/56), respectively, significantly lower than pre USI [18.1%(29/160),18.1%(29/160), x2 = 7.54, 6.86, all P ＜ 0.01]. Conclusions USI could increase the IQs of children and decrease the positive rate of JPB, and significantly improve the quality of whole nation and persistently eliminating IDD.

New drugs emphasize the international innovation including innovate new drugs and modified new drugs. Modified new drugs are improvement of drugs already on the market to achieve superior efficacy. With the advantages of high success rate,high return,low risk and long life cycle,modified new drugs have become the mainstream of new drugs research and development in the world. Modified new drugs R&D in China should be based on clinical demand and focused on the differentiation research in order to obtain new preparations with signif-icant clinical advantages to better serve the clinical practise. This paper states the concept and characteristics of modified new drugs in China,makes case analysis and shares the development history of blockbuster modified new drugs in the world,clarifies the opportuni-ties and challenges and provides ideas for the future development of modified new drugs in China.

Objective To know the rural doctors' knowledge,belief and practice on iodine deficiency disorders(IDD),as well as their capability on health education communication in Ye County,Henan Province.Methods Semi-structured interviews were conducted among 50 rural doctors in Ye County,Henan Province.Topics covered include:sales of salt purchases,daily supervision and monitoring activities of salt,the health effects of salt,the situation of rural doctors trained,the situation of rural doctors participated in health education and related recommendations.Results ①Twenty-nine of the rural doctors knew exactly the advantage of salt iodization.②Thirty-nine of the rural doctors had taken part in the half quantitative detection of salt once or twice a year and 15 of them knew the supervision activities of salt industry department.③Forty-nine of the rural doctors believed salt iodization was beneficial to health and 48 of them were willing to participate in health education on IDD.④The major ways of their acquiring health knowledge were promotional materials [54.0％ (27/50)],TV [50.0％ (25/50)],and lecture/training [24.0％ (12/50)].⑤Thirty-seven of the rural doctors had taken part in health education on IDD.They were used to use booklets [68.0％ (34/50)],promotional slogan [36.0％ (18/50)],broadcast [24.0％ (12/50)],and doctor consultation [24.0％ (12/50)].⑥Twenty-eight of the rural doctors thought the current health education on IDD was better.They hoped to reduce the price of salt,strengthen supervision,receive more training and health education on IDD.Conclusions The rural doctors remain relatively lack of knowledge on IDD.Rural doctors have the initiative and responsibility to conduct health education on IDD,but their pattern is still a one-way propagation.

Objective To understand the fairness of health resources of endemic diseases institutions in Henan Province,to provide evidence for endemic allocation of health resources for the government.Methods Health-related data resources in endemic disease prevention and control institutions were collected in Henan Province,including personnel,business space area,the value of equipment,and health funding,etc.The percentages of population distribution and geographical distribution of health resources were calculated; Lorenz curves of demographic fairness and geographic fairness were drawn.According to Lorenz curve (Gini coefficients of the population and the geographical distribution were calculated based on Lorenz curve),Gini coefficients were used to evaluate the fairness of the endemic disease prevention institutions for health resource allocation.Results As can be seen from Lorenz curve,the population fairness of endemic disease prevention and health personnel was the best,but the number of senior officers was less and the total value of equipment owned was low.The geographical fairness of all the indicators of health resources was poorer,and geographic fairness among senior officers was the worst.The Gini coefficient of health technical personnel,senior personnel,undergraduate or above personnel,value of equipments,area of business room and health funding allocation determined by the population distribution was less than 0.4.The health resources were relatively fair and reasonable according to the distribution of population.The Gini coefficients of all the indicators determined by the distribution of geography were higher than those determined by the distribution of population.Furthermore,the geographic Gini coefficient of senior personnel was above 0.4 which was in the vigilance state.Conclusions The equality of health resources determined by population distribution in the institutions for endemic diseases control in Henan is superior to those determined by geographic distribution.The allocations of health resources of endemic diseases control in different areas are unbalanced.

Objective To create a stable and reliable model for cerebral ischemia.Methods (1)Distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (dMCAO) model: SD rats of 270-350 g in weight were anesthetized using isoflurane.Both common carotid arteries (CCA) were exposed and occluded for 30 min.Via a bone window between the left eye and ear, the exposed left middle cerebral artery was cauterized and cut during bilateral CCA occlusion.(2) Evaluation of the model: microPET study was performed at 10 h after surgery.microMRI scan were done at 24 h.TTC staining were done at 48 h.Behavioral tests, including vibrissaeelicited forelimb placement test, were done from day 2 to 60 after surgery.Tissue damage was evaluated using cresyl-violet staining Mortality was also observed.Results Infarction areas were 54.50% ± 3.15%(95% CI:49.49-59.51 ) using microPET scanning, 45.30% ± 2.35% (95% CI:42.94-47.86) using microMRI scanning, 43.39% ± 2.33% (95% CI:40.94-45.84)using TTC staining, and 30.10% ±2.22% (95% CI:28.05-32.15) using CV staining.The behavioral test scores were lower in the ischemic group than in the sham control group.This dMCAO model was successfully performed in all rats, and the mortality rate was 0.Conclusions Our results suggest that permanent dMCAO plus bilateral CCA occlusion for 30 min can produce a stable and reliable model suitable for research on cerebral ischemia.

ABSTRACT:Objective For preparation of vascularized islets , to isolate and culture human adipose derived stem cells , investigate the role of adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs ) in promoting the proliferation and vascularization of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs ) co‐cultured in vitro , and explore its mechanism .Methods ADSCs and HUVECs were isolated by collagenase digestion method ,then cultured ,and identified by morphology ,immunofluorescence or multi‐directional differentiation .The co‐culture system of ADSCs and HUVECs was established , HUVECs cultured alone were set up for control group . The proliferation , vascularization and concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (b‐FGF)in the supernatant were compared between the two groups .Results The third generational ADSCs had uniform long spindle fiberous morphology and multi‐directional differentiational function . Immunofluorescence test of surface antigens on ADSCs revealed CD44/CD49d (+ ) ,CD31/CD34 (-) ,on HUVECs CD31/vWF (+ ) . High vascular density was found when co‐cultured in Matrigel of ADSCs and HUVECs than alone of HUVECs .Growth curve shown at days 3 , 4 and 5 of the logarithmic phase , HUVECs count in co‐culture group of ADSCs and HUVECs was (4 .52 ± 0 .31) × 104 ,(7 .18 ± 0 .45) × 104 ,and (8 .23 ± 0 .36) × 104 under indirect co‐culture condition , while that in individual HUVECs group was (2 .71 ± 0 .25) × 104 ,(4 .87 ± 0 .26) × 104 ,and (6 .86 ± 0 .33) × 104 ( P<0 .01) .Population doubling time of HUVECs was shorter in co‐culture group than in individual group .Also ,the OD value of HUVECs was higher in co‐culture group than in individual group when cultured at days 1 ,3 ,5 and 7 ( P<0 .01) .When cultured at days 3 ,7 and 13 ,the concentration of VEGF and b‐FGF in the supernatant was higher in co‐culture group than in individual group ( P< 0 .01 ) . Conclusion ADSCs can promote the proliferation and vascularization of HUVECs in vitro co‐culture conditions by secreting or increasing the HUVECs secretion of VEGF and b‐FGF .
