Leukotriene B4 is a small metabolite of phospholipid in membrane through PLA2,5-LO, LTA4 hydrolase and other related enzymes. It is been synthesized in almost all kinds of tissue cells, then transported to outside of the cells, which may be separated from its synthesis. LTB4 shows complex bioactivities, especially in inflam-mation, immune system and plays an important role. Its functions are mediated by its different receptors on the membrane. Also, LTB4 interacts with other cytokines, and they form a network regulating functions of the body.

Objective To select a kind of stent with better property and spread its clinical application. Methods Three kinds of stents including “Z” type stainless steel stent(SSS), mesh Ni Ti alloy stent(AS), and gild stent(GS) were placed into dogs′ vena cava. Angiography was performed 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 6 months, and 9 months after stent placements (according to the grouping time), then the animals were sacrificed to get the veins with stents for histopathology examinations (including macro pathology, microscope and scanning electron microscope). Data of displacement rate, expand rate, patency rate of stents, patency rate of tributary veins, endothelial thickness, and course of endothelialization were acquired to indicate stent application property. Measurement data were analyzed by analysis of variance and q test. Enumeration data were analyzed by ? 2 test. Ranked data were analyzed by Ridit analysis. Results The displacement rates of SSS, AS, and GS were 13 3%, 13 3%, and 7 7%, respectively(? 2=0 281, P =0 869); The incomplete expanding rates of SSS, AS, and GS were 6 7%, 46 7%, and 0.0% respectively. There was statistical difference(? 2=12 194, P 0 05); The patency rates of SSS, AS, and GS were 93 3%, 66 7%, and 84 6%, respectively. There was no statistical difference among the rates(? 2 =3 649, P =0 161). Endothelialization reached about 100% 4 weeks after the stents placements. Desquamating of GS plating layer was found 4 weeks after stent placement, surface erosion of SSS wire and AS wire was not found in 9 months. Conclusion Z type stainless steel stent has better anticoagulative capability, anticorrosive capability, and biocompatibility, and it is now an ideal intravenous stent.

Objective To investigate the operative treatment of displaced intra-articular fractures of the calcaneus using a small lateral incision approach.Methods Thirty-one patients with 32 intra-articular calcaneal fractures,were treated with open reduction and internal fixation through a small lateral incision approach from October 2004 to April 2006.The skin incision was made from the distal tip of the fibula to the base of the fourth metatarsal.According to Sanders classification,there were 21 typeⅡfractures and 11 typeⅢfractures.The first change of dressing was done on the second day after operation.The residual blood clots in the wounds were cleaned as much as possible when the drainage sheet was removed.The operated foot was bandaged with pressure dressing of cotton pad.Results After an average follow-up of 10.5 months(range,3 to 18 months),no soft tissue com- plications were found,and all had acceptable reduction.The preoperative X-ray film showed that B(?)hler angle was 6.84??9.36?,Gissane angle was 106.04??12.03?.The postoperative X-ray film demonstrated that B(?)hler angle was 32.06?+6.87?,Gissane angle was 115.81??9.48?,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.01).According to the AOFAS evaluation system for Ankle-Hindfoot,two feet scored 60-70 points,nine feet 70-80 points,16 feet 80-90 points and five feet 90-100 points.Condusion The small lateral incision approach is a good option for management of calcaneus fractures,because it causes minimal soft tissue damage,provides excellent exposure,and leads to convenience for later removal of internal fixators and subtalar arthrodesis.

Objective To evaluate the possibility of interventional therapy for avascular necrosis of the femeral head, with different curing methods, way of introduction and cultural heritages. Methods Vasodilator, thrombolytics and promoting microcirculatory drug were directly injected into the feeding arteries of the avascular necrotic femoral heads, under the condition of applying the blood stoppage belt at the root of thigh with pressure before the drug injection into the femoral pronator and extension arteries. The treatment was repeated 45 d later. Urokinase 10 5 unite/d ?10 were administrated with venous infusion ipsilaterally on the 15th day after the beginning of the therapy. Imaging features and clinical symptoms were recorded and correlatively studied before and after the treament. Results Symptoms relief especially the pain reached 100% after the treatment with various degrees of bony repair and new bone formation. Furthermore, increase caliber of feeding small arteries for femoral head and multiplicity of microvasculature, shortening of opacification time were revealed by DSA. IV stage bony change showed mild or inconspicuous. Conclusions Interventional catheterization treatment for avascular femoral head necrosis, especially the patients of fore Ⅲ stage, is safe and effective.

Objective To present a method for breast reconstruction with the deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap and to summarize the operative experiences. Methods DIEP flaps were elevated without carrying rectus abdominis muscle. The breast was shaped after the deep inferior epigastric artery and vein were anastomosed to the internal mammary artery and vein. Results Since 2000, we have used the DIEP flaps in 15 cases of breast reconstruction. There were 100 % survival in 10 flaps, distal skin necrosis in 2 flaps, and a full loss in 2 flaps. With the follow-up of 6～12 months, the reconstructed breasts were well-shaped and there were no complications such as abdominal heria, bulge and weakness in donor sites. Conclusion DIEP flap is the development and refinement of TRAM flap and possesses of advantages such as rich blood supply, abundant tissue volume, minimal donor site morbidity and easy shaping. It is a new but reliable and safe technique for autologous breast reconstruction.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between hearing loss and acoustic neuroma(AN),the tests of pure tone audiometry,acoustic emissions impedance audiometry,audiometry brainstem response(ABR)and evoked otoacoustic emissions(EOAE)wee measured in 14 patients (16 ears)from March 1999 to December 2000.Methods:Fourteen patients (16 ears)with acoustic neuroma (8 males and 6 females,ranging in age from 21 to 72 years old)were diagnosed by CT or MRI scaning,and final confirmed by surgery and pathology.In the auditory tests ,efferent suppression test was curried out only in 4 ears with recordable emissions,promontory stimulation test (PST)was examined only in 5 ears with severe or profound deafness (hearing loss≥80dB SPL)who have no both measurable ABR and recordable EOAE.Results:It was found that 2 ears (12.5%,2/16)of the AN ears showed neural impairment,6 ears (37.5%,6/16)were cochlear impairment and 8 ears (50.0%,8/16)were cochlear-retrocochlear impairment.All of 4 tumors ears with EOAE emission have a disorders of efferent function.Conclusion:EOAE test had significant value for evaluation of the status of cochlear function (at the level of outer hair cells)in AN patients.The retrocochlear auditory nerve function of AN patients were evaluated by the tests of ABR combined PST which showed significant value.Results showed that the hearing impairment of AN have different levels of the peripheral auditory system according to auditory tests,including cochlear,eighth cranial nerve and efferent nerve level at the same or independently.

Objective To investigate the survival rate, voiding, sexual function after nerve-sparing surgery with extended systematic extraperitoneal lateral lymphadenectomy in lower rectal cancer. Methods Three hundreds and ninety-two cases with advanced lower rectal cancer who underwent nerve-sparing surgery with radical dissection from 1996 to 2000 were reviewed. Among them,173 cases only cleared in abdominal cavity,219 cases coupled with extraperitoneal lateral lymphadenectomy. AIM: To study the absorption performance and purification process of total flavones from Bushen Recipe(Radix polygoni multiflori;Herba epimedii;Rhizoma drynariae;etc) with macroporous resin. METHODS: The contents of total flavones,icariin,tetrahydroxystilbene and naringin were worked as indexes,the adsorptive capacity of D101,DA201 and DM301 resins were investigated,and the static adsorption curve,dynamic leakage curve and elution curve were used for the selection of macroporous resin. RESULTS: The elution parameters of selected DM301 consisted of the 0.25 BV/h feed rate solution ratio of 4 BV water to elute resin and 4 BV 70% alcohol to be collected as elution solvent,and the elution rate of 2.4 BV/h was established. CONCLUSION: Macroporous resin method is a better candidate method for purifying flavones in Bushen Recipe.

It is sug-gested that the deceased susceptibility of HFRS virus infected endothelial cells to NK and LAKcells may protect the viruses from the cellular immunity during the course of HFRS.
