1.Weibull distribution for modeling drying of Angelicae Sinensis Radix and its application in moisture dynamics.

To establish the water dynamics model for drying process of Angelicae Sinensis Radix, the Weibull distribution model was applied to study the moisture ratio variation curves, and compared the drying rate and drying activation energy with the drying methods of temperature controllable air drying, infrared drying under different temperatures (50, 60, 70 degrees C). The Weibull distribution model could well describe the drying curves, for the moisture ratio vs. drying time profiled of the model showed high correlation (R2 = 0. 994-0. 999). The result proved that the drying process of Angelicae Sinensis Radix belonged to falling-rate drying period. For the drying process, the scale parameter (a) was related to the drying temperature, and decreased as the temperature increases. The shape parameter (β) for the same drying method, drying temperature had little impact on the shape parameter. The moisture diffusion coefficient increase along with temperature increasing from 0.425 x 10(-9) m2 x s(-1) to 2.260 x 10(-9) m2 x s(-1). The activation energy for moisture diffusion was 68.82, 29.60 kJ x mol(-1) by temperature controllable air drying and infrared drying, respectively. Therefore, the Weibull distribution model can be used to predict the moisture removal of Angelicae Sinensis Radix in the drying process, which is great significance for the drying process of prediction, control and process optimization. The results provide the technical basis for the use of modern drying technology for industrial drying of Angelicae Sinensis Radix.

2.Effect of drying methods on monoterpenes, phenolic acids and flavonoids in Mentha haplocalyx.

To provide a scientific basis for the selection of the appropriate drying method for Mentha Haplocalyx Herba (MHH), determine 2 monoterpenes, 4 phenolic acids and 5 flavonoids in MHH by GC-MS and UPLC-TQ-MS methods, and investigate the effects of the drying methods on the changes in contents of these analytes. The qualities of products obtained with different drying methods were evaluated by the multivariate statistical method of Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Results showed that the drying methods had the greatest impact on menthol, caffeic acid, and rosemary acid, which were followed by chlorogenic acid and diosmetin-7-O-glucoside. The contents in these analytes processed with hot-air-drying method were higher than those with microwave-drying and infrared-drying methods at the same temperatures. The contents in these analytes processed under low temperature (40-45 °C) were higher than those under higher temperature (60-70 °C). Above all, the contents in phenolic acids processed with microwave fixation (exposed under microwave at 100 °C for several minutes) were obviously higher than those of not being processed, showing an inhibition of some enzymes in samples after fixation. The TOPSIS evaluation showed that the variable temperature drying method of 'Hot-Air 45-60 °C' was the most suitable approach for the primary drying processing of MHH. The results could provide the scientific basis for the selection of appropriate drying method for MHH, and helpful reference for the primary drying proces of herbs containing volatile chemical components.

3.Clinical and laboratory characteristics of rheumatoid arthritis with positive antinuclear antibody.

OBJECTIVE:
To analyse the clinical and laboratory characteristics of antinuclear antibody (ANA) positive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.
METHODS:
The clinical and laboratory data of 428 RA cases from Department of of Rheumatology and Immunology Peking University Third Hospital from Jan 2013 to Dec 2018 were collected and used to analyse characters between ANA positive group and ANA negative group. T test was used for the quantitative data in accordance with normal distribution. Wilcoxon rank sum test was used for the quantitative data of non normal distribution. The qualitative data were analyzed by chi square test. But while 1≤theoretical frequency < 5, chi square test of corrected four grid table was used. And Fisher exact probability method was used when theoretical frequency < 1.
RESULTS:
The number of ANA positive group was 231 (54%). The female rate was obviously higher in ANA positive group (82.7% vs. 63.5%, χ2=20.355, P < 0.01). The rate of metatarsophalangeal joints (MTPJs) involvement was lower in ANA positive group (22.1%) than in ANA negative group (33.0) (χ2=6.414, P < 0.05). The incidence of secondary Sjögren's syndrome (sSS) was much higher in ANA positive group(19.5% vs. 4.1%, χ2=23.300, P < 0.01). The positivity of rheumatoid factor (RF), as well as the positivity of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide(CCP) antibody was much higher in ANA positive group (77.1% vs. 53.8%, χ2=25.743, P < 0.01, 74.9% vs. 59.4%, χ2=11.694, P < 0.01, respectively). The levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) of ANA positive group were higher [(15.1±5.1) g/L vs. (13.8±5.3) g/L, t=2.359, P < 0.05, 1.25 (0.92) g/L vs. 1.05 (0.65) g/L, Z=-3.449, P < 0.01, respectively]. But the levels of hemoglobin (Hb) and platelet (PLT) was lower in ANA positive group[(109.64±17.98) vs. (114.47±18.48) g/L, t=-2.734, P < 0.01; (266.4×109±104.6×109) vs. (295.9×109±100.1×109) /L, t=-2.970, P < 0.01, respectively].
CONCLUSION
The incidence of sSS was obviously higher in ANA positive group than in ANA negative group. Serum IgG of ANA positive group was higher, but Hb and PLT were lower.

4.Assessment of the operation standard and safety on the individual deep puncturing at Tianshu (ST 25) under CT.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the individual operation standard and safety on the deep puncturing at Tianshu (ST 25).
METHODSThe deep insertion through the peritoneum about 1-2 millimeter was taken as individual standard depth at Tianshu (ST 25) for 39 patients. Using CT cross-section scanning and image surveying, the regression analysis was conducted on the impacts of abdominal circumference (AC,cm) to the peritoneum depth.
RESULTSIt was concluded the formula for calculating the satisfactory depth of individual insertion at Tianshu (ST 25), depth = -0.562 + 0.045 x AC.
CONCLUSIONThe depth of insertion, 1-2 millimeter through peritoneum at Tianshu (ST 25) is safe and feasible in acupuncture treatment, which can be used significantly as the reference and guidance for the assessment of clinical operation and safety on the deep puncturing of the other acupoints on the abdominal region.

5.Left versus right ventricular Tei index for evaluating third-trimester fetal cardiac function in pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the value of Tei index and the sensitivity of left versus right ventricular Tei index in evaluating the fetal cardiac function in pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome in the third trimester.
METHODSFetal echocardiograms were performed in 30 women with pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) syndrome and 55 with normal pregnancy of the third trimester. Tei index was obtained by calculating the ratio of the isovolumic time (isovolumic contraction and relaxation time) to the ejection time of the left and right ventricle. Comparisons of the Tei index were made between the PIH group and control group, and also between the left and right ventricles in each group.
RESULTSSignificant difference was found in the left and right ventricular Tei index between PIH group and control group. No difference was noted between the left and right ventricular Tei index in the PIH group.
CONCLUSIONSTei index is a useful indicator in evaluating fetal global cardiac function, for which purpose the left ventricular Tei index can be as sensitive as the right ventricular Tei index.

6.Investigation and analysis of the baseline data of 3432 patients with vertigo.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the baseline data of outpatient clinical subjects with vertigo and study on the clinical characteristics of vertigo.
METHODThe questionnaires and clinical tests data of 3432 patients complained vertigo were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTSAll the patients received interview and vestibular function test. These patients aged 4-89 years with an average age of (40 +/- 18.6) years. Among them 1513 (44.09%) were male and 1919 (55.91%) were female, with a male:female ratio of 1:1.27. Vertigo patients increased according to age and reached its peak in the 41-60 years among all patients. The incidence might increase along with the increase of education level in urban populations. The onset of vertigo might correlate with the careers but differed among different populations.
CONCLUSIONSVertigo attacks patients in all age spans, but vertigo is highly prevalent in the population aged 41-60 years. The onset of vertigo is related to many different factors.

7.Expressions of Th17 cells and interleukin 17 in patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia and their clinical significance.

The aim of this study was to detect the rate of T-helper (Th)17 cells and interleukin (IL)-17 level in peripheral blood of patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and to explore their clinical significance. The proportion of Th17 cells from 48 patients with ITP and 28 healthy controls was detected by flow cytometry, and the IL-17 level was evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed that the percentage of Th17 cells in ITP group was (1.40 ± 1.35)%, which was significantly higher than that in healthy control group (P < 0.05), but in the glucocorticoid hormone-treated group it was significantly lower than that in treated group without glucocorticoid hormone(P < 0.05). The level of IL-17 expressed by Th17 cells in ITP patients was (19.624 ± 5.187) pg/ml, which was higher than that in the healthy control group (P < 0.05), it was lower in the glucocorticoid hormone treated group than that in treated group without glucocorticoid hormone, but there was no statistically significant difference between the glucocorticoid treated and treated group without glucocorticoid hormone (P > 0.05). It is concluded that the Th17 cells may involve in the pathogenesis of ITP, and the glucocorticoid hormone probably plays a therapeutic role through inhibiting Th17 cells.

8.The proarrhythmic effects of autoantibody against beta1 adrenergic receptor.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the distribution characteristics of autoantibody against beta1 adrenergic receptor (beta1 AR) in the sera of arrhythmia patients and whether the autoantibody could induce arrhythmia.
METHODSHealthy subjects and patients with arrhythmia or coronary artery disease were chosen. The autoantibody against beta1 AR in the sera was screened by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgG in the positive autoantibody sera from arrhythmia patients were purified and administrated to normal rats; then the ECGs were dynamic monitored.
RESULTSThe positive rate of autoantibody against beta1 AR in arrhythmia patients was 52.8%, which was significantly higher than that in coronary heart disease group (24%, P < 0.01) and healthy people group (5%, P < 0.01), respectively. Moreover, the autoantibody against beta1 AR could lead to the occurring of arrhythmia in normal rats, most of which were ventricular arrhythmia.
CONCLUSIONIn the sera of arrhythmia patients, the autoantibody against beta1 AR has a high titer and it could lead to the arrhythmia of rats in vivo.

9.Experimental study on islet cells in rats under condition of three-dimensional microgravity.

OBJECTIVETo study the survival rate and secretory function of islet cells in rats under condition of three-dimensional microgravity.
METHODSIsolated islet cells were assigned to flask-cultured or bioreactor-cultured. Survival rate of islets cultured for days 3, 7, 14 in stationary flasks or microgravity bioreactors was measured by AO-PI double-staining. Cultured islets were identified by dithizone (DTZ) staining, and insulin contents of different culture liquids were measured by radioimmunoassay.
RESULTSPancreatic islets stained nacarat with DTZ were easily visualized. When islet cells were cultured for 7 days and 14 days, survival rate of bioreactor-cultured islets was (0.9000 +/- 0.0107)% and 0.8038% +/- 0.0092% and higher than flask-cultured islets (P < 0.01). Insulin level of bioreactor-cultured islets is (70.875 +/- 0.31) m micro /L on the cultured 7 days while flask-cultured islets is (41.246 +/- 0.35) m micro /L. There was statistically significant difference of insulin production between the two groups (P < 0.01). Bioreactor-cultured islet contents were higher than flask-cultured on the cultured 14, 21 and 30 days (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONSIslet cells survival rate and secretory function revealed that bioreactor-cultured islets functioned better compared with flask-cultured islets.

10.The protective effects of ischemia preconditioning on the lung injury following with limbs ischemia/reperfusion.

OBJECTIVETo explore the protective effects of ischemic preconditioning (IPC) on the lung injury following with limbs ischemia /reperfusion (LI/R).
METHODSThe models of LI/R injury were constructed in rabbits. The blood from right external jugular vein and left common carotid artery, into and out-flowing pulmonary blood (IPB, OPB) respectively. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO) in IPB and OPB and lung tissues were measured, as well as total nitric oxide synthase (tNOS) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in lung tissues were detected in different groups. The effects of IPC on the lung injury were observed.
RESULTSCompared with sham and before ischemic, the activity of SOD decreased and the content of MDA and NO increased after 4 h ischemia followed by 4 h reperfusion in IPB, OPB and lung tissues. The activity of tNOS and iNOS in lung tissues increased remarkably as well, there was statistical significance (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). SOD increased and MDA, NO, tNOS, iNOS decreased significantly by IPC before ischemia/reperfusion. The correlation analysis indicated that MDA was negatively correlated with SOD and was positively correlated with MDA, NO, iNOS (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONOxygen free radicals metabolic confusion of lung occurred in the course of LI/R, IPC could strengthen the resistance of peroxidation in lung and had protective effects on the lung injury following with LI/R.
