Objective To discuss the clinical features diagnosis and treatment of cerebral schistosomiasis. Methods A to?tal of 166 patients with cerebral schistosomiasis were treated and their clinical data were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Results In 166 cases of cerebral schistosomiasis the confirmative diagnoses of 156 cases were diagnosed according to the clin?ical manifestation etiology immunology and auxiliary examination CT MRI .In among 74 cases were confirmed by pathologi?cal examination 10 cases were diagnosed through to the diagnostic treatment. Totally 102 patients received the oral medication of praziquantel and they all improved and discharged 14?16 days later 64 patients received the craniotomy and praziquantel medication after the operation and 48 patients significantly improved others did not improve or aggravated. There was no opera?tive mortality. Conclusions Neuroimaging and laboratory tests are valuable in the diagnosis of cerebral schistosomiasis. The praziquantel treatment is selected firstly when the diagnosis was established. However in the case of serious intracranial hyper?tension intractable epilepsy and praziquantel treatment fails the surgical treatment is required.

BACKGROUND: Biological function of leukocyte-associated immunoglobulin like-receptor 1 (LAIR 1) has clearly researched in China and abroad, but the in vivo biological function of LAIR is poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: To establish LAIR-2 (CD306) eukaryotic expression vectors and to purify and identify the fusion protein. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A single sample observation experiment was performed at the Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between June 2007 and June 2008.MATERIALS: plg/3c vector was offered by Oxford University, pcDNA3.1 vector was provided by Meyaard doctor. Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell lines were preserved by the Department of Immunology, Fourth Military Medical University of Chinese PLA.METHODS: Two eukaryotic expression vectors plg/3c-LAIR-2 and pcDNA3.1-LAIR-2 were constructed and were transfected into CHO cells. The binding activities of LAIR-2 fusion protein to LAIR-2 mAbs were identified by Western blot, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry assay.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The construction of stably transfected cell lines, and the purification and identification of fusion protein. The activity of LAIR 2 protein combined to corresponding monoclonal antibody.RESULTS: Eukaryotic expression vectors were constructed and trasnsfected into CHO cells successfully. Two cells lines CHO/LAIR-2-Fc and CHO/LAIR-2 that steadily expressed LAIR-2-Fc fusion protein and LAIR-2 protein were established. Western blot assay showed that LAIR-2 protein could bind specially to LAIR-2 mAb 1A7, 3H12 and 4A9. Immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry assay demonstrated that 3H12 and 4A9 could bind to LAIR-2 expressed in the transfected CHO cells. CONCLUSION: Two ceils lines CHO/LAIR-2-Fc and CHO/LAIR-2 were successfully constructed, which can transfected to CHO cells. The eukaryotic expressed LAIR-2 protein has good binding activity to LAIR-2 mAbs.

Objective: To construct and express the eukaryotic expression vector of human pSecTag2B-CD226(PTA1).Methods: The gene fragment encoding extracellular region of human CD226 was cloned into the eukaryotic expression vector pSecTag2B.After sequencing,the vector was transfected into COS-7 cells,and the expressed molecule was purified by affinity chromatography.Finally,the product was characterized by ELISA.Results: hCD226-6His was successfully expressed.After purification,the concentration of hCD226-6His was 50?g/ml.Conclusion: Human CD226-6His fusion protein involving the extracellular region of CD226cDNA has been successfully expressed and purified,which helps prepare the ground for further functional studies of this molecule.

AIM To study the effect of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis on serum IL-1? and TNF-? level of rheumatoid arthritis rats, as well as its mechanism. METHODS An experimental type Ⅱ collagen-induced arthritic rats was established. Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) with positive anti-contactin-associated protein-1 (Caspr1) antibody is a rare autoimmune antibody mediated peripheral neuropathy. A 62-year-old male patient was reported in this article, whose clinical manifestations were subacute onset, abnormal distal limb motor sensation, and increased cerebrospinal fluid protein level. The patient had a good response to plasma exchange. Electromyography of lower limbs showed that motor involvement was dominant, motor conduction velocity slowed down, compound motor active potential (CMAP) and sensory nerve active potential amplitude decreased, and F wave was not elicited; electromyography of upper limbs without symptoms showed that CMAP amplitude of median nerve decreased, and conduction velocity was normal. There are few reports of anti-Caspr1 positive CIDP in the world. The article summarized the characteristics of the patient and reviewed the relevant literature, in order to improve clinicians′ understanding and diagnosis and treatment ability of the disease.

AIM: To evaluate intraocular pressure (IOP) control and visual rehabilitation after placement of the Ex-press(R)miniature glaucoma shunt with adjunctive amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) and mitomycin C (MMC) in patients with post-traumatic open-angle glaucoma during 2y of follow up.METHODS: This was an interventional,2-year,observational study.Eighteen eyes were prospectively observed (in 18 patients with traumatic secondary open-angle glaucoma) in which Ex-press miniature glaucoma filtration shunts were implanted with AMT and MMC.The outcome measures included intraocular pressure (IOP),best corrected visual acuity (BCVA),number of antiglaucoma medications,and complications.The progress of all patients was monitored for 24mo.RESULTS: Complete success (IOP <21 mmHg without glaucoma medications) was seen in 15 of the 17 (88.2%) eyes enrolled in the study at 24mo after the operation.IOP decreased from 36.9±4.8 mmHg preoperatively to 15.4±3.5 mmHg at 12mo and 15.5±3.5 mmHg at 24mo postoperatively.Early postoperative hypertension developed in two patients (11.1%) due to postoperative fibrosis.Most of the patients had improved postoperative BCVA values at the final follow-up visit compared to their preoperative measurements.Two patients (11.1%) developed transient hypotony.There were no complications such as hyphema,choroidal effusion,shallow anterior chamber,the device touching the iris,or extrusion of the device.CONCLUSION: The Ex-press miniature glaucoma filtration shunt with adjunctive AMT and MMC is effective and safe in cases of traumatic open-angle glaucoma.Surgical management is an appropriate surgical treatment in this series of cases.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of L?Arabinose for bowel preparation before colonos?copy. Methods A total of 170 patients who underwent colonoscopy were randomized into 2 groups. The ex?perimental group (n=85) used L?Arabinose for bowel preparation, while the control group (n=85) used polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution ( PEG?ELS ) . The degree of comfort, adverse effects, and the visibility during colonoscopy were observed. Results Premedication of L?Arabinose for bowel preparation yielded to more comfort ( U=-4?349,P=0?000) , less adverse effects (χ2=29?27,P=0?000) , and similar visibility during colonoscopy ( U=-0?875,P=0?381) compared with PEG?ELS. Conclusion L?Arabinose is safe, comfortable, and effective for bowel preparation before colonoscopy.

Aim To observe the physical coupling between transient receptor potential channel vanilloid type 4 (TRPV4 ) and cPLA2 in endothelial cells. Methods We investigated the physical association of TRPV4-cPLA2 coupling by immunofluorescence reso-nance energy transfer (immuno-FRET)to assess the spatial proximity between TRPV4 and cPLA2 in human microvascular endothelial cells (HMEC),primary cul-tured endothelial cells and in thoracic aortas rings from high salt-induced hypertension mice.Results At the cellular level,with high salt treatment,the physical in-teraction of TRPV4 and cPLA2 was significantly en-hanced in primary vascular endothelial cells and HMEC.Furthermore, in thoracic aortas rings from high salt-induced hypertension mice,we found an in-creases interaction between TRPV4 and cPLA2 in en-dothelial cells from arterial segments .Conclusion High-salt treatment increases the endothelial TRPV4-cPLA2 coupling,indicating that this coupling may pro-vide a new target for vascular endothelial dysfunction.

The average age of patients was 64 years in the study. The proportion of men to women about 1. 10: 1. Admission condition is critical for about 10.12% of the total and more concentrated in the cardiovascular department. Hospital stay ranged from 8 to 14 d. Inpatients with medical insurance is 62.93%. Total hospitalization cost distribution most is the 5 000-10 000 RMB. Hypertension complicated with coronary heart disease, blood lipoprotein disorder disease; phlegm and blood stasis and Yin deficiency of liver and kidney are the most in TCM syndrome type. Promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis is the major in Chinese medicine treatment. Western medicine treatment basically conforms to the guidelines. The most antihypertensive drugs is calcium antagonistst, accounting for about 81.2% of the total number. Suggesting that the clinical treatment in strict blood pressure and at the same time, pay attention to combination therapy and the use of fixed compound preparation,it's useful to control the blood pressure better. Combined with traditional Chinese medicine and resolving phlegm and removing blood stasis, reduce the target organ damage, reduce complications, the prevention and control work of hypertension in China still faces enormous challenges at present. The result provides reference information for clinical medicine and medical research.
