Objective To investigate the influence of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on radiosensitivity and prognosis, the relationship between NLR and clinical features, and the clinical value of NLR in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).Methods 2006 to 2011 in the cancer center of Zhongshan University admitted to the newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal cancer patients in 266 cases. The association of pretreatment NLR with radiotherapy doses 20,40,and 60 Gy and therapeutic effect at 3 months after radiotherapy was analyzed,as well as the influence of NLR on overall survival (OS),local recurrence-free (LRF),and distant metastasis-free (DMF) rates. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate survival rates and the log-rank test was used for survival difference analysis. Results NLR showed differences across patients with different T stages and sexes (P=0.039,0.032).The patients with NLR≤3 had significantly higher OS,LRF,and DMF rates compared with those with NLR> 3 (P=0.004,0.025,0.045).As NLR increased, the radiosensitivity in patients with NPC was reduced gradually, and radiosensitivity showed a significant difference between sensitive group and moderately sensitive group (P=0.043).When the radiotherapy dose was 40 Gy,the tumor regression group had a lower NLR than the residual tumor group (P=0.025).Conclusions In patients with NPC,an increased pretreatment NLR is an adverse prognostic factor, and NLR can be used as a simple and convenient method to evaluate the prognosis of patients with NPC.

Objective To investigate the effect of folic acid intervention on plasma homocysteine (Hcy) metabolic changes and pulse wave velocity(PWV)in patients with type H hypertension. Methods Patients(hos-pitalized from March 2014 to December in our hospital)with H type hypertension were randomly divided into treat-ment group and control group randomly ,and were given routine antihypertensive drug therapy. Treatment group was given oral folic acid 0.8 mg,1 times a day,the control group was given placebo,1 times a day. All patient were treated for 12 months. Changes of plasma Hcy and PWV levels were observed. Results 432 patients(Han nationality)with type H hypertension were enrolled in this study with the age of 61.7 ± 13.6 years old and the ratio of men and women is 1.3:1. The most common diseases were coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. 2 groups were treated for a period of 12 months, with follow-up time from 6 to 10 months(average duration in 8 months). After treatment, the difference between plasma Hcy(Z=-7.63,P=0.000)and PWV(Z=-3.16,P=0.002)levels of the two groups were statistically significant. Conclusion Folic acid intervention can significantly reduce the level of plasma Hcy in patients with type H hypertension ,slow down the progression of atherosclerosis and reduce the risk factors of cardiovascular disease.

OBJECTIVETo explore effective pretreated methods for hydrosalpinx before frozen embryo transfer (FET).
METHODSA randomized controlled study was performed on 229 FET cycles of hydrosalpinx patients. They were assigned to two groups by random digit table, Group A (94 cases), Group B (89 cases), and Group C (46 cases). Patients in Group A received transvaginal aspiration of hydrosalpinx combined with auricular point sticking. Those in Group B received transvaginal aspiration of hydrosalpinx group. Those in Group C received no transvaginal aspiration of hydrosalpinx. Pregnancy outcomes of FET, endometrial and subendometrial blood flow distribution on the embryo transfer day were compared among the three groups.
RESULTSThere was no statistical difference in the endometrial thickness on FET day, the number of transfer embryos, the number of transferred good quality embryos among the three groups (P > 0.05). The clinical pregnancy rate and the embryo implantation rate were significantly higher in Group A than in Group C (P < 0.05), and the clinical pregnancy rate was significantly higher in Group A than in Group B (P < 0.05). The early abortion rate and the transfer cycle cancel rate were significantly lower in Group A than in Group C (P < 0.05). Type A endometrial and subendometrial blood flow distribution was dominant in Group A, which was significantly higher in Group A than the rest two groups (P < 0.05). Type A distribution rate was also significantly higher in Group B than in Group C (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONTransvaginal aspiration of hydrosalpinx combined with auricular point sticking before FET could improve the endometrial receptivity and improve outcomes of IVF.

Objective: To study the effects of TNFα on wound healing. Methods: The skin lesion and incisions were made on mice and rhTNFα was applied in both skin lesion and incision. Tissue strips were evaluated for tensiometry and histologic features after healing. Results: It was found that rhTNFα markedly improved wound healing both in skin lesion and incision wound model, it also markedly enhanced the breaking strength of treated incision and increased wound cellularity in rh TNF α treated groups. Conclusion: The results suggest that TNFα play an important role in regulating inflammatory reactions of local injured tissues and it may improve the functions of fibroblasts, mononuclear phagocytes and endothelial cells. rhTNFα of suitable doses can promote wound healing. This shows that TNFα, as a wound healing promoter, has the potentials for clinical application.

Objective To investigate the effect of ischemic post-conditioning (IPO) on the level of Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in acute ischemia - reperfusion (I/R) injury of lung in order to illuminate its protective mechanism. Methods Forty-eight adult SD rats were randomly divided (random number) into 6groups ( n =8 each):sham operation group ( S group) ; I/R group in which the hilum of left lung was clamped for 45 min followed by 105 min reperfusion; IPO group in which left lung hilum was clamped for 45min and post - conditioned by alternation of 30 s reperfusion with 30 s re-occlusion for three times before perfect perfusion for 102 min; Hemin (HM) + I/R group; ZnPPⅨ (zinc protoporphyrin Ⅸ) + IPO group and HM + S group.Arterial partial pressure of oxygen ( PaO2 ) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in blood serum were assayed. The left lung was removed for determination of wet/dry (W/D) lung weight ratio and level of HO-1 protein was detected by immunohistochemical technique and pathohistological changes were observed under light microscopic examination. Comparisons among multiple groups were studied by using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Statistical comparisons within groups were analyzed by using paired t -test.Results The level of HO-1 in lung tissue was significantly increased in the I/R group compared with the S group and the HM + S group (P <0.01,P <0.05).Compared to the I/R group, the IPO and the HM + I/R groups had significant higher level of HO-1 ( P < 0.05,P < 0.01 ).The PaO2 was significantly lower in all experimental groups than that in the S group (90 ± 11 ) mmHg.However, the values of PaO2 in the IPO and the HM + I/R groups were higher than that in the I/R group (P < 0.01 ).In addition to severe lung tissue damage evidenced by pathohistological changes, the lung wet/dry (W/D) weight ratio and MDA level in blood serum were significantly higher in the I/R group than those in the S group (P <0.01 ),whereas the lung damage was attenuated either by IPO or by HM pretreatment (P < 0.05,IPO or HM + I/R vs.I/R).Conclusions IPO can attenuate the lung ischemia - reperfusion injury through upregulating the level of HO-1 protein and inhibiting lipid peroxidation injury.
