To study the antitumor activity and immunoregulatory effect of Triterpenes isolated from Betula Platyphylla (TBP)Methods: Inhihition rate (IR) on tumor growth was determined by the mice with transplantable tumors (melanoma B16, Sarcoma 180, Lewislung carcinoma and Ehrlich ascites cancer), splenocyte proliferation induced by ConA was measured by H-TdR incorporation; cytotoxicity ofmacrophage was observed by 3H-TdR release; activity of TNF and NK cell was determined by dye (natural red)release. Results: IR of 0.80 g/kg and 1.20 g/kg TBP on all of above tumor strains were greater than30％ in vivo. TBPdoes not show significant effect of splenocyte Prolifera-tion and NK cell activity, but significantly promoted the activity of TNF producted by macroghage and splenocyte. TBP also increase the cyto-toxicity of macrophage. Conclusion:TBP shows potent antitumor effect in vivo. Promoting nonspecific immunoactivity is one of the antitumormechanism of TBP.

AIM: To analyze clinical observation and the efficiency of intravitreal conbercept combined with 532-laser on Coats disease in adulthood.METHODS: This was an retrospective analysis.Six eyes from 6 patients(5 males and 1 female) with coats disease diagnosed by fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) were enrolled.Before the injection, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of early treatment of diabetic retinopathy study (ETDRS), non-contact tonometer, ophthalmoscope, fundus photography, FFA, and OCT were examined.The initial average visual acuity (ETDRS letters) were 51.17±15.15.The initial average central retina thickness (CRT) was 303.30±107.87μm.All affected eyes were treated with intravitreal conbercept 0.05mL (10mg/mL) combined with 532-laser.Patients were followed up for 6 to 12mo, with a mean duration of 7.33±1.26mo.Post-treatment BCVA were compared with baseline using repeat analysis.RESULTS: The mean BCVA showed significant improvement during 1 wk, 1, 3mo post-treatment and the latest follow up (P<0.01).During the latest follow up, the mean BCVA was obviously improved in 3 eyes (50%), improved in 2 eyes (40%), stable in 1 eyes (10%).Likewise, the subretina fluid absorption of different levels.No adverse events such as secondary retinal detachment or endophthalmitis were found during the follow-up.CONCLUSION: Coats disease in adulthood more likely to have lower symptom and have a better response on treatment.Intravitreal conbercept combined with 532-laser significantly improve visual acuity and absorb the subretina fluid.

AIM: To establish a quality control for Longshen Buyi Granule(Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng,Radix Panacis Quinquefolii,Radix Astragali,etc.. METHODS: Ingredients of Radix Ginseng,Radix Panacis quinquefolii,Fructus Corni,Fructus Ligustri lucidi,Radix Ophiopogonis,Pericarpium Cirri reticulatae,Radix Glycyrrhizae were identified by TLC,and astragaloside IV in the granule was determined by HPLC-ELSD. RESULTS: The spots in the TLC were clear and distinguished well.The linear range was within(0.333 8)-10.680 0 ?g(R=0.999 1).The average recovery was 99.42%,and the RSD was 2.00%. CONCLUSION: This method can be used for quality control of Longshen Buyi Granule.

Objective To evaluate the relationship between fragile histidine triad(FHIT) transcription abnormalities and HPV16 infection and human cervical tumorigenesis.Methods Total RNA from 5 cervical carcinoma cell lines(SiHa,HeLa,RJC-1,CS1213 and C4-1),58 primary cervical cancer specimens and 18 normal cervical epithelial tissues were extracted and FHIT transcripts were characterized by a two-step(nested) reverse transcription(RT)-PCR.The seven of the PCR products with different size were purified and sequenced.HPV16 infection was assessed by PCR.Results ① There were altered FHIT transcripts in SiHa,HeLa and C4-1 cells.Aberrant FHIT transcripts were detected in 39 out of the 58 cervical cancer samples(67.2%),but none out of 18 in the normal cervix tissue specimens(0%);HPV16 infections were identified in 37 of the 58 cervical cancer tissues(63.8%),but 1 in the 18 normal cervical epithelial tissues(5%),which showed a significant difference between these two groups(P0.05).③ The exon 5 and exon 6 were mainly deleted in the altered FHIT transcripts and no insertion and point mutation were found by DNA sequencing.Conclusion Aberrant FHIT expression was significantly common in cervical cancers and was correlated with HPV16 infection.These findings suggest that the tumor suppressor gene FHIT and high risk HPV16 may play a very important role in human cervical carcinogenesis.

Objective To explore the changes and clinical value of serum insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and adiponectin in newborns with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Methods Fifty-two HIE newborns were recruited in this study, including 15 severe, 20 moderate and 17 mild HIE newborns. Twenty healthy newborns were selected as controls. Serum levels of IGF-1 and adiponectin were detected 3-to-5 days (acute period) and 10-to-14 days (recovery period) after birth. Results Serum levels of IGF-1 and adiponectin in the acute period differed signiifcantly among groups of different severity (P<0.05). Serum levels of IGF-1 and adiponectin were decreased with the increase of HIE severity. The level of adiponectin in moderate and severe HIE was lower than that in mild HIE (P<0.05). In recovery period, the level of IGF-1 in severe HIE was lower than that in control (P<0.05). Serum levels of IGF-1 and adiponectin in the acute period was positivity correlated with those in umbilical cord blood of HIE newborns (r=0.531, r=0.611, P<0.01). Conclusions Decreased levels of IGF-l and adiponectin in HIE newborns are correlated with the pathological process of HIE, and can be regarded as indices for severity of HIE. IGF-l and adiponectin is of signiifcance in the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of HIE.

Clinical data of 150 pregnant women,who were confirmed with maternal thyrotoxicosis during January 2010 to January 2014,including 104 cases of gestational transient thyrotoxicosis (GTT) and 46 cases of Graves disease (GD),were retrospectively analyzed;65 normal pregnant women served as controls.Patients with GD had lower body mass index (BMI) than those with GTF and normal controls [(18 ± 5),(20 ± 4) and (22 ± 4) kg/m2,respectively,P ＜ 0.05].The frequency of thyrotoxic history and hyperthyroidism symptoms in GD patients were significantly higher than that in GTT patients [33％ (15/46) vs.3％ (3/104) and 52％ (24/46) vs.15％ (16/104),respectively,both P ＜0.01].In the first trimester,patients with GD presented lower TSH levels than those with GTT and controls(M =0.021,0.045and 1.660 mU/L,respectively,P ＜ 0.05) and higher free T4 (FT4) (M =24.99 vs.19.99 pmol/L,P ＜0.05),free T3 (FT3) (7.10 vs.5.85 pmol/L,P ＜ 0.05),thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) (99.22vs.4.54 kU/L,P ＜ 0.05) and thyrotrophin receptor antibody (TRAb) (5.28 vs.0.11 U/L,P ＜ 0.05)levels than patients with GTT.In the second trimester,there were 67％ (70/104) GTT patientsand 4％ (2/46) GD patients had normal TSH;and FT4 returned to normal in 82％ (85/104) GTT patientsand 17％ (8/46) GD patients.In the third trimester,there were 100％ (104/104) GTT patients and 9％ (4/46)GD patients had normal TSH;and FT4 returned to normal in 100％ (104/104) GTT patients and 48％ (22/46)GD patients.
