OBJECTIVE:To determine the content of 5 kinds of heavy metal elements in Astragalus membranaceus from Longxi of Gansu province,i.e. Pb,Cd,Cu,As,Hg. METHODS:Wet digestion pretreatment was carried out for samples and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) was used for the determination of heavy metal elements. RESULTS:The contents of 5 kinds of heavy metal elements in A. membranaceus from Longxi of Gansu Province were lower than the limit. CONCLUSION:AAS method can accurately determine the content of heavy metal elements in A. membranaceus.

Objective To evaluate the effects of recombinant human growth hormone(r- hGH)replacement therapy on glucose metabolism in children with growth hormone deficiency(GHD) Methods Replacement therapy with domestic r - hGH was done in 15 children with GHD for 3 months. Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and insulin .releasing test (IRT) were performed before and after 3 months of r-hGH replacement therapy. Objective To evaluate the effect of 3-dimmentional conformal radiotherapy (3-DCRT) for mediastinal metastasis from esophageal carcinoma after surgery.Methods Sixty-three such patients were treated by 3-DCRT. Tumor diameter was: cm 20 patients. Positive supraclavicular lymph node was found in 9 patients. The number of tumor at the upper right, upper left and upper median mediastinum was 27, 27 and 20. All patients received 3-DCRT to the dose of 40?Gy (2?Gy/f, 5f/w), after resetting of portals, the dose was boost to 64～70?Gy by 3?Gy/f, 5f/w. Dose of the patients who had been irradiated was boosted to 50?Gy without further positioning. Results Complete response rate and partial response rate were 43% and 48% one month after the treatment was concluded,with no progression of disease. The 1-, 2- and 3-year survival rates were 75%, 43% and 15%. Conclusions Three-dimmentional conformal radiotherapy, with little side-effects, can markedly improve the local control rate and suvival rate of patients with mediastinal metastasis from esophageal carcinoma after surgery.

OBJECTIVE:To establish the GC-MS fingerprint spectrum of volatile components in Danqi piantan capsule. METH-ODS:GC-MS was performed. HPLC conditions:The column was BPX 5,temperature of injection was 250 ℃,respectively;carri-er gas was He,flow rate was 1 ml/min,split injection,split ratio was 50:1 and volume injection was 0.02 μl. MS conditions:ion source was EI,bombarding energy was 70 eV,temperature of ion source and transmission line was 200 ℃ and 250 ℃,respective-ly;scan range was 40-500 amu,solvent delay of 2 min. The peak with largest chromatographic peaks areas was reference peak,com-mon peaks of 10 batches of Danqi piantan capsule were analyzed. Similarity evaluation system for chromatographic figerprint of TCM was adapted for the similarity analysis and NIST standard MS database was used to retrieve and identify the common peak. RESULTS:There were totally 13 common peaks in the 10 batches of Danqi piantan capsule with similarity degree>0.92;accord-ing to the verification,the fingerprint spectrum was a dapted for the similarity analysis and reference fingerprint of 10 batches of Danqi piantan capsule showed good consistency. The No.3 peak was Angelica sinensis unique,the No.2,4,5,7,8,12 peak was Acorus tatarinowii unique. CONCLUSIONS:The established method is specific and stable,and can provide basis for the quality as-sessment for Danqi piantan capsule.

Objective To investigate the character 、difference and clinical meaning of distortion product otoacoustic emissions(DPOAE) and auditory brainstem respons(ABR) in high risk neonates with.Methods DPOAE and ABR were recorded with amplaid MK 22 and GSI60 in 200(400ears) high risk neonates, then compared the results.Results Of 200(400ears) newborns, the presence of DPOAE was 64%(256/400 ears), the presence of ABR was 88.25%(353/400 ears). The co-negativity and co-positivity of DPOAE and ABR were 61.50%(246/400 ears)and 9.25%(37/400 ears). The false negative and false positive of DPOAE were 3.91%(10/256 ears)and 74.31%(107/144 ears).Conclusion The DPOAE test is simple,quick,harmless,sensitive and objective. Because it only reflects the function of the cochlea and has high false positive, we can't make the diagnosis of hearing loss immediately when newborns don't pass the DPOAE test.The ABR test is a reliable method for neonatal hearing screening. The combination of DPOAE and ABR in high risk neonatal hearing screening could increase the accuracy and reliability of the test and retest results.

To observe the effect of aerobic exercise on the body shape,cardiovascular,physiology and biochemical indexes of elderly women,we trained 76 old women (volunteers,mean age 58 years old) from urban area of Yulin from 14th July 2005 to 14th January 2006,60 minutes every time,3 times a week. The heart rate during exercise was controlled within 110-125 times per minute. Objective To investigate the new technique in curing intracranial aneurysms with GDC via intravascular catheter.Methods Thrombosis with GDC were undertaken in 11 cases of intracranial aneurysm,proved with DSA with well depiction of the ancurysms and thcir carrying arteries.Results All except one were thrombosed with only one piece of GDC each,the other one used 3 pieces.All the carrying arteries kept patent after the procedure.Conclusion Thrombosis of intracranial aneurysm with GDC via catheter is proved to be a safe,easy,time-saving and effective method in curing the disease.

Objective To explore the value of Toll-like receptor 2(TLR2) on the diagnosis of neonatal septicemia especially for the early diagnosis.Methods Twenty-two newborns with septicemia were divided into 2 groups according to the time of onset:early-onset group(n=12) and late-onset group(n=10).Another 14 non-infectious newborns were collected as control group.The TLR2 mRNA in peripheral blood was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction,and mononuclear cells were isolated by the density gradient centrifuga-tion;the C reaction protein(CRP) was detected,and the co-relationship of the indexes was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis.Results 1.The level of CRP in early-onset group were(157.89?32.96) ng?L-1,and(89.78?16.24) ng?L-1 in late-onset group,and there was significant difference between both groups(P=0.001);(6.91?1.20) ng?L-1 in control group,which was significantly lower than that in early-onset group and late-onset group(P=0.000,0.001).2.The expression of TLR2 mRNA in early-onset group and late-onset group was(57.38?10.72)?1012 copies?L-1and(32.74?4.65) ?1012 copies?L-1,which was significantly higher than that in control group[(4.12?0.68) ?1012 copies?L-1].3.CRP is positively correlated with TLR2 mRNA(C=0.972,P=0.000).Conclusions TLR2 expression is proven to be related to both the level of CRP and the stage of onset and may play a key role in the pathogenesis of neonatal septicemia.Detection for TLR2 may assist the earlier diagnose of atypical neonatal septicemia.
