Objective To observe the changes of plasma IL-8 levels and their association with the severity of and the passage of time after inhalation injury. Methods The plasma was separated from blood samples of 27 patients 12 h, 1, 2, 4 and7 d after inhalation injury. The IL-8 level in the plasma was determined by ELISA. Result IL-8 levels were significantly increased on day 1 and kept a high level for a period over 7 d. Conclusion Inhalation injury can induce the production of IL-8, and IL-8 level is positively correlated with the by severity of inhalation injury.

Objective To compare the effect of hollow screw and double suture anchors for the treatment of the intercondylar eminence fractures of tibia.Methods The data of 68 patients with intercondylar eminence fractures of tibia from January 2006 to January 2012 were retrospectively reviewed.33 patients of them received treatment of hollow screw,35 patients received double suture anchors.All patients had X-ray films before operation.After follow-up of 3,6,12 and 36 months,they all were examined by X-ray eminence in an appropriate position.Union time was from 6 to 12 weeks and evaluated by Lysholm system.Results After a follow-up for 24 to 43 months and the average period was 36 months.A total of 68 patients turned up.The outcome of treatment was evaluated on the basis of X-ray and clinical findings in hollow screw group and double suture anchors group.Union and average time was 8 weeks.During the follow-up time,clinical evaluation included the range of motion and knee joint stability was examined and no knee joint instability and abnormal activity were found.During the 3 months and 6 months,there were significant differences between hollow screw group and double suture anchors group (P ＞ 0.05).But during the follow-up from 12 to 24 months,there were significant differences between hollow screw group and double suture anchors group (P＞0.05) according to Lysholm system,clinical evaluation including range of motion and knee pain was examined and knee pain and abnormal activity were found in this two groups.Conclusion Clinical characteristics of patients and individual requirement should be considered comprehensively before an individual treatment choice is made for the treatment of the intercondylar eminence fractures of tibia.

Comprehensive concepts should be persisted in developing integrative medicine, including persisting in complex methodologies of medical systems, multiple disciplinary cross and integrative studies, and the combination of experimental and clinical studies. The development of integrative medicine plays an important promoting role in developing modem medicine and traditional medicine.

Objective:To investigate the contents of paranasal sinus CT reports about clinically pertinent lesions and anatomic variations in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and analyze the lesions and the anatomic variations less described in CT reports to improve the quality of paranasal sinus CT reports.Methods:A national questionnaire survey on radiologists interpreting paranasal sinus CT was conducted online in March, 2020. Questions were focused on the frequency of the lesions or anatomic variations of the paranasal sinuses described in paranasal sinus CT reports, and the results were analyzed and compared among radiologists by different levels of the hospital, professional titles, years of CT reading experience, subspecialties, and education backgrounds.Results:A total of 6 525 valid questionnaires were obtained, in which 97.7%, 97.7%, and 92.8% of radiologists described mucosal thickening, hypertrophy of turbinate or deviation of the nasal septum, and space occupying lesions within paranasal sinuses in CT reports, respectively. Only 35.0%, 26.9%, and 22.5% of radiologists described frontal recess lesions, dehiscence of foramen rotundum or pterygoid canal, and anterior/posterior ethmoid artery anatomy in CT reports, respectively. The anatomic variations that predisposed patients to major surgical complications or recurrent rhinosinusitis were more frequently documented in CT reports by radiologists with experience of head and neck radiology, senior titles or more than 30 years of radiological experience in tertiary hospitals than other radiologists.Conclusions:Lesions within the paranasal sinus were almost documented in all paranasal sinus CT reports. However, the anatomic variations that predisposed patients to major surgical complications or recurrent rhinosinusitis were infrequently described, which needs to be optimized by improving the quality of paranasal sinus CT reports.

Objective: To explore the effects of protein powder on the bioavailability of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in blood and kidneys of rats and renal function change. Methods: Twenty-four rats of the SD strain were randomly divided into the negative control group, PFASs group and protein powder group, with 8 rats (half males and half females) in each group. PFASs included 13 perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) and 8 perfluorosulfonic acids (PFSAs), and the mixture was used as a test subject for intervention. The rats in the negative control group were given deionized water at doses of 20 mL/kg·bw, in the PFASs group were given 5 mL/kg·bw of PFASs mixtures and 15 mL/kg·bw of deionized water, and in the protein powder group were given 5 mL/kg·bw of PFASs mixtures and 15 mL/kg·bw of protein powder (0.258 g/mL). After intervention for 28 successive days, body weight and kidney mass were weighed, and the kidney volume index was calculated. Serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen were detected by an automatic biochemical analyzer. The PFCAs, PFSAs and PFASs contents were quantified in blood and kidney using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry, and the bioavailability was estimated. Results: There was no significant differences in kidney mass, kidney volume index, serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen among the negative control group, PFASs group and protein powder group (all P>0.05). The bioavailability of blood PFCAs, PFSAs and PFASs in the protein powder group was not significantly different from the PFASs group (all P>0.05). Compared with the PFASs group, the bioavailability of PFCAs, PFSAs and PFASs were significantly increased in kidneys of male rats in the protein powder group (all P<0.05), while were not significant different in those of female rats (all P>0.05). Conclusion Protein powder at the dose of this study can significantly improve the bioavailability of PFASs in kidneys of male rats, while there no obvious effects on the bioavailability of blood PFASs and renal function.

Objective: To detect the bioavailability of 21 types of perfluorochemicals (PFCs) in rat liver and to examine the effect of protein powder. Methods: Twenty-four rats of the SD strain were randomly divided into the control group, the model group, and the protein powder group. Twenty-one types of PFCs were mixed at an equal concentration of 10 ng/mL, and rats in the model group and the protein powder group were given by oral administration of PFCs mixtures at a daily dose of 5 mL/kg. Rats in the protein powder group were given protein powder by gavage at a dose of 15 mL/kg, while animals in the model and control groups were given deionized water at doses of 15 and 20 mL/kg for 28 successive days. The PFCs contents were quantified in rat liver using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS), and the bioavailability was estimated. Results: There were no significant differences in rat body weight or liver/body weight ratio in the control, model and protein powder groups (P>0.05). There were no significant differences in the bioavailability of perfluoroalkylated carboxylic acid (PFCA) or sulfonate (PFSA) in the liver of female and male rats between the protein powder group and the model group (P>0.05), and the gross bioavailability of PFCA (t=-22.266, P<0.001) and PFSA (t=-34.312, P<0.001) was significantly higher in the liver of male rats than in that of female rats in the model group, and the bioavailability of PFCA and PFSA increased followed by a reduction in rat livers with the increase of carbon chain length in the model group. In the model group, the highest bioavailability was measured in perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDoA) and sodium perfluorooctylsulfonate (L-PFOS) in the female rat liver [(36.06±2.93)% and (37.11±1.73)%], and the highest bioavailability was measured in perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA) and L-PFOS in the female rat liver [(61.02±2.16)% and (87.16±3.29)%]. Conclusions The bioavailability of PFCs correlates with the carbon chain length and animal gender in rat livers, and protein powder poses no clear-cut effects on the bioavailability of 21 types of PFCs in rat livers.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical effectiveness of sertraline hydrochloride combined with four-spot caress in the treatment of primary premature ejaculation (PE).

METHODSWe randomly assigned 90 primary PE patients to three groups of equal number. The patients in group A (aged [28.1 ± 5.2] yr and with a disease course of [3.1 ± 1.9] yr) were treated with oral sertraline hydrochloride at 50 mg qd, those in B (aged [27.8 ± 4.1] yr and with a disease course of [3.2 ± 2.0] yr) by four-spot caressing (caressing the tongue, breasts, and vulva prior to intercourse), and those in C (aged [27.1 ± 4.7] yr and with a disease course of [3.1 ± 2.0] yr) by the combination of oral sertraline hydrochloride and four-spot caressing, all for 12 weeks. Before and after 4, 8, and 12 weeks of treatment, we obtained the intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) and Chinese Index of Sexual Function for Premature Ejaculation-5 (CIPE-5) scores and compared them among the three groups of patients.

RESULTSThe IELT was dramatically prolonged in groups A, B, and C after 4 weeks ([1.08 ± 0.29], [0.93 ± 0.28] and [1.21 ± 0.27] min), 8 weeks ([1.43 ± 0.30], [1.20 ± 0.33] and [1.72 ± 0.42] min) and 12 weeks of treatment ([2.12 ± 0.63], [1.90 ± 0.65] and [2.67 ± 0.82] min) as compared with the baseline ([0.63 ?0.14] , [0.60 ?0.14] and [0.62 ?0.11] min) (P < 0.05), even longer in group C than in A and B (P < 0.05). The CIPE-5 scores were markedly improved in groups A, B and C after 4 weeks ([15.17 ± 1.74], [14.57 ± 1.94] and [15.60 ± 1.63] min), 8 weeks ([17.13 ± 1.63], [16.37 ± 1.97] and [18.00 ± 1.05] min) and 12 weeks of intervention ([18.93 ± 1.57], [18.53 ± 1.67] and [20.00 ± 1.46] min ) as compared with the baseline ([12.57 ± 2.05], [13.20 ± 2.51] and [13.07 ± 2.01] min) (P < 0.05), even higher in group C than in A and B (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSertraline hydrochloride combined with four-spot caressing, with its definite efficacy and rare adverse reactions, deserves wide clinical application in the treatment of primary PE.
