Objective To investigate the survival principle of SARS-conarovirus (SARS-Cov) in environments and to explore the inactivation effect of chlorine and chlorine dioxide on SARS-Cov with the aim of providing some basis for blocking its'main route of transmission. Methods SARS-Cov were added into the excrement samples, urine samples and other water samples and were disinfected by sodium chlorite and chlorine dioxide. The survival ability of SARS-Cov and the effects of those two disinfectants on the inactivation of SARS-Cov were observed. Results The survival of SARS-Cov changed with the variation of temperature in external environment. It was showed that SARS-Cov could only survive for 2 days in hospital sewage, domestic sewage and dechlorinated tap water, while 3 days in excrement samples, 14 days in physiological saline and 17 days in urine samples protected from light in vitro at 20 ℃ . At 4 ℃, SARS-Cov could survive for 14 days in all above water samples and 17 days in excrement samples and urine samples. Resistibility of SARS-Cov to disinfectants in sewage sample was lower than those of E. coli and f2 phage. At the same disinfectant dosage or residual chlorine concentration , chlorine had better inactivation effect than chlorine dioxide did.The residual chlorine concentration of more than 0.5 mg/L or chlorine dioxide concentration of more than 2.19 mg/L was enough for the complete inactivation of SARS-Cov in sewage, but not enough for E. coli and f2 phage. Conclusion The survival time of SARS-Cov was shorter and more susceptible to chlorine and chlorine dioxide in external environment.

The number of root canals varies most in the areas of mandibular anterior teeth, maxillary and mandibular premolars, and premolars. Generally, The mandibular anterior teeth have one root canal, but data suggest that the anatomical morphology of the root canals of mandibular incisors varies greatly, which easily leads to the neglect of root canals in endodontic treatment. This report described the case of a mother and a daughter whose mandibular anterior teeth have two symmetrical root canals.

Objective To investigate the infiltration of dendritic cell (DC) in Vocal cord polyp, laryngeal leukopla-kia and glottic squamous cell carcinoma, and to observe laryngeal mucosal lesions of the state of the immune microenviron-ment, and to research significance of DC on the development of glottic squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The infiltration of S-100+and CD83+DC in 20 cases of Vocal cord polyp, 47 cases of laryngeal leukoplakia, 45 cases of glottic squamous cell carcinoma tumor and 20 cases of laryngeal normal mucosa were examined using immunohistochemistry. Results The num-ber of S-100+and CD83+DC were significantly higher in glottic squamous cell carcinoma, laryngeal leukoplakia and vocal cord polyp than that in laryngeal normal mucosa (P<0.05). The number of S-100+and CD83+DC were higher in laryngeal leukoplakia than that in glottic squamous cell carcinoma (P<0.05). The number of S-100+and CD83+DC in mild dysplasia and moderate dysplasia were less than that in severe atypical hyperplasia (P<0.01). In glottic squamous cell carcinoma, S-100+ and CD83+DC with poor-differentiated was significantly less than that with well-differentiated (P < 0.01). Conclu-sion Changes in the number of dendritic cell was found in vocal cord polyp, laryngeal leukoplakia and glottic squamous cell carcinoma, which indicated that there were an abnormal immune status. Changing of dendritic cell in laryngeal mucosa plays an important role in laryngeal cancer development.

Background and purpose: Checkpoint kinase 1 and 2 have been proposed to be potential therapeutic targets to sensitize cancers to radio- or chemo-therapeutics. However, little is known about whether Chk1/2 is also a suitable target for sensitizing cancers to curcumin. In the present study, we investigated effects of Chk1/2 siRNA on curcumin-induced apopotosis in hepatoma cell line Huh7 and evaluated the effectiveness of Chkl/2as a therapeutic target to potentiate human hepatoma to curcumin. Methods: Effect of curcumin on the cell cycle checkpoint-associated proteins was detected by Westem blot. The knockdown efficacy of Chk1/2 siRNA was measured by RT-PCR and Westem blot. Effect of Chk1/2 siRNA on curcumin-induced apoptosis in Huh7 cells was evaluated by DAPI staining. Effect of Chk1/2 siRNA on cell cycle distribution in curcumin-treated Huh7 cells was analyzed by flow cytometry. Results: Curcumin significantly inhibited phosphorylation of cell cycle checkpoint-associtaed proteins Chk1(S317), Cdc25C(S216) and Cdk1(Y15). Chk1 siRNA decreased Chk1 mRNA and protein by 95% and 92% and Chk2 siRNA decreased Chk2 mRNA and protein by 60% and 55% respectively as compared with negative control siRNA (P<0.01). Inhibition of Chk1, but not Chk2, increased apoptotic rate from (21.3±1.8)% to (29.5±2.6)% (P<0.05). Neither Chk1 nor Cbk2 siRNA had any impact on cell cycle distribution in Huh7 cells induced by curcumin. Conclusion: Chk1 siRNA sensitized Huh7 cells to curcumin-induced apoptosis, suggesting that Chk1 is a potential therapeutic target to sensitize human hepatoma to curcumin.
