1.Salmonella Osteomyelitis of the patella: A Case Report
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1990;25(5):1572-1575
A 48 years old male was visited with complaining of painful swelling of the left knee joint for 2 weeks duration. On radiological finding of the patella, there was found local rarefaction and osteolytic change in the inferior pole. It was diagnosed as Salmonella osteomyelitis of the patella and was confirmed by bacteriological study. Osteomyelitis of the patella caused by Salmonella group C as an etiological factor has not been reported. It was treated by conservative method with satisfactory result.

3.CT and MRI findings of vixed mullerian tumor: report of three cases.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1993;29(3):501-503
Mixed Mullerian tumors are rate uterine malignancy and occur primarily in postmenopausal women. We have experienced three case of pathologically proven mixed Mullerian tumor. Two cases had prior history of pelvic irradiation for uterine cervical carcinoma. We suggest that mixed Mullerian tumor should be suspected when an enlarged uterus with polypoid masses in the uterine cavity are initially observed in postmenopausal women who had history of pelvic irradiation.

Despite significant advances in the diagnosis and treatment of various malignancies, the management of esophageal cancer remains one of the least responsive malignancies, Unfortunately complete excision of the tumor is impossible, because expandable anatomic structures are involved early when the diagnosis is made. The intramedullary nailing for the tibial fracture has been used in selected cases of fresh diaphyseal fracture and nonunion. However, with modern technical improvement such as image intensifier and interlocking, the indications have been expanded considerably. Interlocking intramedullary nailing has been popularized because it enables preservation of the range of motion of the joint, early weight bearing and early bony union. Between August, 1989 and July, 1991 interlocking nailing in the tibial fracture has been performed for 53 cases with follow up more than one year. The results were as follows; 1. All were treated with closed nailing and static locking was performed as a principle. Only three cases needed dynamization of the 47 patients treated with static locking nailing. 2. The union rate was 96.296 and mean period of fracture union was 15.2 weeks. 3. In the distal one third of fracture, rigid fixation could be achieved by adjusted length by cutting the distal end. 4. In 7 proximal tibial fractures, 4 fractures were accompanied with complications such as nonunion, angulation deformity and shortening. Therefore, interlocking nail is inadequate treatment of proximal unstable fractures. 5. In the delayed and nonunion treated by interlocking nailing, bony union was achieved in all 3 cases without bone graft and cast immobilization.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1997;32(3):667-671
Specific bone signal abnormalities of MRI of patient with knee injury, although plain radiographs are normal, suggest that ACL injury may be present. Twenty eight MRI examinations in which ACL injury were present, were retrospectively reviewed and were correlated with bone signal changes. The results obtained were as follows; 1. Of twenty eight ACL injuries seen with MR imaging, bone signal abnormality was present at the lateral femoral condyle (LFC) in 8 patients (29%), at the posterolateral tibial plateau in 10patients (36%) and at both sites in 5 patients (18%). 2. In acute knee injury, all seven patients with complete ACL tear had bone signal abnormalities at MRI and of all seven patients, six patients showed bone signal abnormalities at lateral femoral condylar or posterolateral tibial plateau. 3. In conclusion, bone signal abnormalities at posterolateral tibia or lateral femoral condyle are present in almost cases of acute complete ACL tear. Therefore the bone signal abnormalities suggest that there may be ACL injury.
