Objective To examine the effect and mechanism of sodium ferulate inhibiting P38 MAPK in macrophage on neurotoxicity which was mediated by fribrilar-amyloid-induced.Methods The isolated peritoneal macropohages were cultured.P38 MAPK protein in nuclear extracts was analyzed by Western blot and production of tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?) was detected by ELISA.For neuron-macrophage co-cultures,Microtubute-associated protein-2(MAP-2) expression was detected by immunocytochemical technique. The level of LDH in the medium was measured. Results The production of TNF-? and P38 MAPK protein in nuclear extracts increased significantly by incubation with A?25-35.LDH efflux in neuron-macrophage co-culture medium increased and MAP-2 expression decreased significantly(P

ObjectiveTo discuss the central modulating mechanisms while acupuncturing the Stomach 36[ST36(Zusanli)]by brain functional imaging with positron emission tomography (PET).MethodsPET imaging of whole brain was performed in a group of six healthy subjects during two stimulation paradigms: pseudo acupuncture and real acupuncture at acupoint ST36(Zusanli). The data on cerebral glycometabolism, obtained by using PET,was analyzed by using statistical parametric mapping (SPM).ResultsThere was certain increase of glycometabolism in ipsilateral hypothalamus, back of medulla oblongata;bilateral insular lobe; contralateral paracentral lobule, superior part of precentral and postcentral gyrus, opercular part of frontal and temporal lobe, middle part of cingulate gyrus, head of caudate nucleus, middle part of the back of midbrain and pons, and deep part of cerebellum, whereas decrease in ipsilateral superior part of precentral and postcentral gyrus and lateral part of ipsilateral anterior cerebellar lobe, while acupuncturing at acupoint ST36(Zusanli on the right leg).ConclusionsThe central modulating mechanisms of acupuncturing ST36 are realized by neural and neuroendocrine network modulation mechanisms of vegetative nerve center in cortex and subcortex.

Objective To investigate the effects of lipoxin A4 on store-operated calcium channel (SOC) and production of reactive oxygen species in macrophages induced by hpopolysaccharide (LPS).Method Macrophages were randomly assigned Io one of the following six groups:control group,LPS group,Thapsigargin group, lipoxin A4+LPS group, lipoxin A4+Thapsigargin group,2-Aminoethoxydiphenylborate+Thapsigargin group. The intracellular[Ca2+]iwas analyzed by eonfoeal laser microscopy. The production of reactive oxygen specips(ROS) was assayed by flow cytometry. Results LPS increased intracellular[Ca2+]i and reactive oxygen species in a dose-dependent manner.Lipoxin A4 suppressed approximately 75% of the Ca2+ ertry signal induced by thapsigargin and suppressed approximately 93% of the Ca2+ entry signal induced by LPS.The increase in intracellular[Ca2+]i was associated with increased ROS production which was abolished in the presence of lipoxin A4.Conclusions These findings indicate that the LPS-indueed intracellular[Ca2*]i increase depends on the Ca2+entry through SOC channel, and lipoxin A4 inhibits Ca2+ influx and ROS production through SOC channel in ratine maerophages induced by LPS.

Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer (P. ginseng) has been used as traditional medicine in Asian countries for more than 2,000 years. P. ginseng contains many active components such as ginsenosides, peptides, essential oil and polysaccharides, among which, P. ginseng polysaccharides were reported to have immunomodulating, anti-cancer, anti-adhesive and antioxidant activities. For better understanding of the structures and biological activities of all the ginseng polysaccharides, here the recent research achievements were reviewed. This review would be helpful for the relevant researchers to get useful information.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2014;34(11):1320-1322
Objective To investitate the efficacy of cannabinoid-2 receptor (CB2R) activation in preventing liver ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in mice. Methods Forty-eight male C57BL/6J mice, weighing 20-30 g,were divided into 4 groups (n =12 each):sham operation group (group S),group I/R,CB2R agonist JWH133 group (group J),and CB2R agonist JWH133 + CB2R antagonist SR144528 group (group JS).Liver I/ R was produced by blocking the hepatic artery and portal vein for 30 min followed by 45 min of reperfusion in anesthetized mice.At 60 min before ischemia,JWH133 20 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally in group J,and JWH133 20 mg/kg and SR144528 30 mg/kg were injected intraperitoneally in group JS.The liver was removed at 45 min of reperfusion for determination of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),macrophage inflammatory protein-1α (MIP-1α) and MIP-2 contents (using ELISA),and expression of TNF-α,MIP-1α,MIP-2 and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) mRNA (by RT-PCR) in the liver tissues and for microscopic examination of the pathological changes. Results Compared with group S,the contents of TNF-α,MIP-1α and MIP-2 were significantly increased, and the expression of TNF-α,MIP-1α,MIP-2 and ICAM-1 mRNA was up-regulated in J and JS groups.Compared with group I/R,the contents of TNF-α,MIP-1α and MIP-2 were significantly decreased, and the expression of TNF-α,MIP-1α,MIP-2 and ICAM-1 mRNA was down-regulated in J group, and no significant change was found in the parameters mentioned above in JS group.Compared with group J,the contents ofTNF-α,MIP-1α and MIP-2 were significantly increased, and the expression of TNF-α,MIP-1α,MIP-2 and ICAM-1 mRNA was up-regulated in JS group. The pathological changes of liver tissues were significantly attenuated in group J as compared with I/R and JS groups. Conclusion CB2R activation is effective in preventing liver I/R injury in mice and the mechanism is related to inhibitioni of inflammatory responses in liver tissues.

From March 2015 to February 2018, 4 728 women aged 18 to 45 years old with single?pregnancy at the gestational age of 13 to 27 weeks in Hefei were recruited to analyze the trend of vitamin D status. The average levels of serum 25(OH)D in 2015, 2016 and 2017 were (43.22±18.41) nmol/L, (39.3±15.1) nmol/L and (36.6±17.0) nmol/L, and the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency were 69.5%, 77.6% and 81.4%, respectively. Compared with 2015, the levels of serum 25(OH)D in pregnant women in 2016 and 2017 decreased by 5.23 (95%CI: 4.10-6.35) nmol/L and 7.98 (95%CI: 6.77-9.19) nmol/L. The OR (95%CI) values for the risk of vitamin D deficiency were 1.88 (95%CI : 1.57-2.24) and 2.41 (95%CI : 1.98-2.93).

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of Yinaotongluo Capsule on diffuse weighting image and enenery metabolism of ischemia-reperfuing rat.MethodsMagnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI) and 1H and magnetic resonance spectroscopy(MRS) were performed in different brain regions in focal cerebral ischemic-reperfusion injury model rats. ResultsYinaotongluo Capsule could significantly reduce the area and the intensity of infarction of rats by DWI 3 h and 5 d after treatment compared with the model group. The result of 1H MRS examination demonstrated Lac peak was lower and NAA peak higher than that of the model group. ConclusionYinaotongluo Capsule can effectually improve enenery metabolism during cerebral ischemia and reperfuing, so that to reduce the neuronal dysfunction and death in infarcts at the late stage.
