Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of MR for ACM.Methods:164 patients, with obscure clinical diagnosis from Jan.1990 to Dec.1999,were examed by a 1.0T superconductive MR system. The diagnosis of ACM Type Ⅰ was established in all cases and their MR appearances were summarized and analysed. Results:In all cases,60%(99/164)patients had a variable degree of syringohydromyelia;71%(117/164)had cervicomedullary kinking;75%(123/164)were associated with other malformation;70%(115/164)were associated with craniocervical junction malformation. Conclusion:MR has been proved to be the best method in diagnosis of ACM,and it can be used to find out accurately the associated malformation, degree and range of syringohydromyelia.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1997;31(2):100-111
This study was conducted to set up a common mechanism for varying phases of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(FSGS) by comparing the morphological differences between human FSGS and changes in 5/6 renal ablation animal model, which has been accepted as experimental prototype for hyperfiltration theory as pathogenesis of FSGS. Both the human and the experimental rats showed very similar changes such as segmental glomerulosclerosis, vacuole formations or inclusion of small granules of podocytes, appearance of foamy cells in the capillary lumina, eosinophilic deposits along the mesangial area, and focal atrophy of tubules with associated interstitial fibrosis. The halo, frequently seen in human FSGS, is due to detachment of visceral epithelium from basement membrane, however, did not appear in the experimental rat specimen. On the other hand, the foamy cells and hyalinization were more frequently noted in the rat series and even involved the arterioles. The mesangial proliferation never appeared in the rat series occasionally found in human FSGS. In conclusion, the pathogenesis of FSGS cannot depend solely on the hyperfiltration theory of hemodynamic derangement, but has complex impairment of visceral epithelium and cells forming the constituents of basement membrane.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(02):-
AIM To study the effect of desipramine (DMI ) on proliferation inhibition and apoptosis induction of rat glioma C6 cells. METH ODS Cell proliferation was measured by MTT col- orimetric assay and cells undergoing apoptosis were determined by electron microscope and flow cytometry. The expression of hcf-2 was evaluated by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS DMI could result in the concentration- dependent inhibition of C6 cell proliferation and lead to arrest in GO - G1 phase of cell cycle. The value of Ica and 95% confidence limits were 20.7(17 .3~24 .2) ?mol?L~ 1. DMI(40 ?mol? L-l )-induced apoptosis showed classical apoptotic morphology and the hypodiploid peak appeared on the histogram of FCM in a concentration- dependent man ner, which could be abrogated by cycloheximide(1. 8 ?mol? L- 1 ). Meanwhile, DMI (10 ?mol? L- 1 ) could down-regulate the expression of apoptosis associated gene hcl-2. CONCLUSION DMI could inhibit cell proliferation in a concentration dependent manner and induce typical apoptosis of C6 cells.

ObjectiveTo investigate the value of CEUS in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid solid lesions.MethodsTotally 45 patients with thyroid solid lesions underwent CEUS examination. The enhancement mode and blood perfusion characteristics of malignant and benign lesions were analyzed, and the results were compared with pathology.ResultsCEUS diagnosed 31 benign lesions and 14 malignant masses. The diagnostic accordance rate of CEUS was 93.75% (30/32) and 92.31% (12/13) for benign and malignant lesions respectively. In 31 benign lesions,27 (27/31,87.10 %) showed entire homogeneous enhancement,4 (4/31,12.90%) presented inhomogeneous enhancement. In 14 malignant masses,1 (1/14,7.14 %) showed homogeneous hypoechoic enhancement,12 (12/14,85.71%) presented inhomogeneous hyperechoic enhancement and 1 (1/14,7.14%) presented non-enhancement.ConclusionCombined with two-dimensional grey scale ultrasound and CDFI,CEUS enables dynamic observation of the microvascular perfusion of thyroid lesions, therefore helps to differentiate benign and malignant thyroid lesions.

Objectives To study the psychological characteristics of children with attention deifcit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods Human ifgure drawings (HFD) as a projective technique was performed in 107 children with ADHD aged (8.69 ±1.48) years old (6.5~11.5 years), and 107 matched healthy children. Characteristic features of the HFDs in children with ADHD, and correlations between emotional indicators of the HFDs and factors of child behavior checklist (CBCL) were assessed and com-pared with the control group. Results Signiifcant differences in emotional index were found between ADHD and healthy chil-dren, including bad body composition, short arms, long arms, big ifgure, omission of hands and omission of feet (P<0.05). Nega-tive correlation was found between the HFDs emotional index and the factors of activity and social ability in the CBCL (P<0.05), but a positive correlation was found between the HFDs emotional index and behavioral problem (P<0.05). Conclusion Human ifgure drawings can relfect some emotional characteristics of children with ADHD, and when combined with CBCL, it can pro-vide evidence for diagnosis and intervention for ADHD.

[Abstratc] Objective The function of cIAP1 in the progression of ovarian cancer has not been clarified . This study is to explore the involvement of cIAP 1 in regulating biological behaviors of ovarian cancer cells by u-sing RNA interference(RNAi)technology.Mte hods The short hairpin RNA plasmid targeting cIAP1 was con-structed and transfected into Skov 3 cells. The levels of cIAP1 mRNA and protein were investigated by RT -PCR and Western Blot respectively .MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to evaluate cell proliferation and apopto-sis.R esults The rate of cIAP1 transfection was 74.7%performed by flow cytometric analysis .cIAP1 expression was significantly down -regulated at both mRNA and protein levels ,which resulted in a decrease of cell prolifera-tion and invasion capability in vitro .Conclusion This study implies that cIAP 1 might play an important role in the progression of ovarian cancer ,and it could be a potential target for therapeutic anti -cancer drugs .

Objective To assess the drug sensitivity of pancreatic cancer cells based on real-time cell analysis and provide a reference for individualized diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer. Methods Three human pancreatic cancer cells lines SW1900, Capan-2 and PANC-1 were selected and treated with gemcitabine hydrochloride and tegafur gimeracil oteracil potassium capsules, respectively. After 24 hours of culture, the cells were treated with the two drugs in gradient concentration. The cell growth curves before and after the drug administration was monitored using a real-time cells analyzer and the growth inhibition rates (IC50) of the drugs of the pancreatic cancer cells were calculated. At the same time, the cells in the cell culture plate were treated with the drug, and acridine orange/ethidium bromide (AO/EB) staining and laser scanning confocal microscopy were performed to observe the changes of cells after the drug administration. Results 72 hours after the drug administration, IC50 values for the three cell lines were different. The IC50 values of gemcitabine hydrochloride for SW1900, Capan-2 and PANC-1 cells were 1.69 μmol/L, 10.05 μmol/L and 12.74 μmol/L, respectively. The IC50 values of tegafur capsule for SW1900, Capan-2 and PANC-1 cells were 180.29 μmol/L, 765.70 μmol/L and 95.57μmol/L, respectively.AO/EB staining confirmed the reliability of IC50.Conclusions SW1900 and Capan-2 cells can be used as the control for gemcitabine hydrochloride and tegafur gimeracil oteracil potassium capsules to establish cell models for drug screening in vitro, which provides a reference for the application of the technology in anticancer drugs screening.
