Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 1992;10(3):298-307
We evaluated the performance of activities of daily living by using Barthel ADL index and the factors affecting the quality of life were also analyzed in 82 survivors who suffered from single cerebral infarction in MCA territory and followed for more tham 3 months. The results were as follows: 1. Among the patients, 56(68.3%) patients regained functional indepeadency.but they were not necessarily normal or socially independent. 2. They improved markedly in first 4 weeks after onset of the stroke. 3. Functional recovery in the left hemiplegic patients was better than the right, but there was no difference in functional recovery related to sex and etiologic factors. 4. There was no correlation between age and ADL score 5. The major determinants for long term quality of life were the initial neurologic signs and the size of infarcted area demonstrated by Computed Tomography.

Association of the hepatoid and choriocarcinomatous components in adenocarcinoma of the stomach is extremely unusual and raises a possibility of new approach understand the histogenesis of gastric hepatoid adenocarcinoma. This paper describes a Borrmann type III adenocarcinoma of the stomach with both choriocarcinomatous and hepatoid components in composite tumor pattern in a 50-year-old man. Tubular arrangement of differentiated embryonalcarcinoma was encountered in choricarcinomatous and hepatoid areas, which showed strong immunoreactivity to beta-HCG and AFP, respectively. The findings suggest that gastric adenocarcinoma may have a potential of differentiation toward embryonal carcinoma. from which both choriocarcinoma and hepatoid variant of gastric adenocarcinoma may develop by retrodifferentiation.

A complete hydatidiform mole coexisting with a fetus is a rare condition, particularly when diagnosed after IVF-ET. In spite of the wide spread use of assisted reproductive technology, there have been, to our knowledge, only few reported cases of molar pregnancy after IVF-ET. At present, there are limited data to guide the antenatal management of a complete hydatidiform mole coexisting with fetuses. A complete mole can coexist with a normal, healthy fetus who can be carried to term, with good outcome. But, patients who desire to continue the pregnancy after such a diagnosis must be cautioned about the potential for severe medical complications and developing persistent gestational trophoblastic tumor. We report here a case of complete hydatidiform mole in a triplet pregnancy coexistent with two live fetuses following in IVF-ET.

Korean Journal of Aerospace and Environmental Medicine 2022;32(2):60-64
Purpose:
The COVID-19 pandemic has wide spread to aviation. This study was conducted to find out the perception of flight training for student pilots in the flight training center in a university with COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods:
It analyzed through qualitative research by aviation subject matter experts in Korea.
Results:
The advantages of COVID-19 were the increased flight training opportunities due to significant decrease of aircraft operations in the airports, reduced ground school hours due to Social Distancing concerns of infection, difficulty in communication due to wearing masks, difficulty in purchasing parts for the maintenance, deterioration of skills due to reduced face to face class hours, and laxity in lifestyle were found.
Conclusion
It was analyzed that the longer the corona pandemic, the lower the motivation of students due to uncertainty in the job market.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 1999;42(8):1665-1670
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate of course of delivery & perinatal outcomes for postterm pregnancy compared with fullterm pregnancy. METHODS: This study included 360 cases of postterm pregnancy out of 16,992 cases delivered at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from January 1, 1993 to December 31, 1997. 16,143 cases of full term deliveries of 38 to 42 gestational weeks conducted in same period were used as the control group. Postterm pregnancy was defined as a pregnancy that it exceeds 295 days calculated from first day of the last menstrual period. RESULTS: The incidence of postterm pregnancy was 2.13% with the highest incidence occurring in the 26 ~30 years age group. This study group was significantly different from the control group in the incidence of fetal distress (10.28% vs. 2.20%), large fetus (10.83% vs. 6.95%), perinatal death (1.67% vs. 0.27%). CONCLUSIONS: Adverse perinatal outcomes were increased markedly as the gestational weeks to be prolonged. Therefore, careful prenatal care, accurate determination of delivery date is very important.

10.Heterotopic Mesenteric Ossification Following Intraabdominal Surgery.

Journal of the Korean Surgical Society 2003;65(4):361-365
Heterotopic mesenteric ossification is a very uncommon disorder that is characterized by new bone formation in the mesentery, which does not normally undergo ossification. A 52-year-old female experienced a small bowel obstruction 12 days after a segmental resection of the small bowel following a trauma. A laparotomy was performed 16 days after the initial operation, and a 2 cm hard mass was detected in the small bowel mesentery, with severe fibrous adhesions around the mass, involving the jejunum, which required resection. Postoperatively, the patient developed an intraabdominal abscess, followed by intestinal fistulation. The patient gradually recovered by conservative management, and left hospital 70 days after the first operation. Microscopic examination of the mass showed well oriented trabeculae of the osseous tissue, osteoid formation, with fine calcification and osteoblastic activity, but there was no formation of mature lamellar bone or clear evidence of the "zone phenomenon" that is classically described in heterotopic ossification. These findings appeared consistent with an early stage of heterotopic ossification. The etiology and pathogenesis are unknown; the heterotopic mesenteric ossification was thought to be associated with the trauma (intraabdominal surgery). The previous literature on heterotopic mesenteric ossification is reviewed, and a new case reported.
