Palisaded, encapsulated neuroma is characterized clinically by a solitary, slowly-growing and dome-shaped papule or nodule, usually accompanied by telangiectasia on the surface, and histopathologically by an encapsulated nodule in the dermis and the palisading arrangement of nuclei. A 57-year-old female patient presented with a 1cm-sized, solitary nodule on the right ala nasi which had been present for about 5 years. The nodule had a tendency to slow growth and it became a polypoid nodule. Telangiectasia was shown on the surface of the lesion. Histopathlogical findings showed a well-defined and encapsulated nodule in the dermis, composed of spindle cells with basophilic and plump nuclei in a palisading fashion. On immunohistochemical staining, the tumor cells of the nodule were positive for S-100 protein, while the capsule of the nodule was negative for S-100 protein. Epithelial membrane antigens were focally positive only on the capsule of the nodule. We report herein a case of palisaded, encapsulated neuroma, one case of which has been reported in Korea.

We report a case of nevus sebaceus of Jadassohn in a 31-year-old female associated with various epidermal appendage tumors, such as syringocystadenoma papilliferum, sebaceus adenoma and eccrine hidrocystoma. We supposed that the multiple lesions seem to support the concept of nevus sebaceus arising from the pluripotential primary epithelial germ.

Journal of the Korean Surgical Society 2007;72(2):101-106
PURPOSE: The peak age for breast cancer in Korea is in the fifth decade, which is younger than that of Western countries. However, controversy exists about the effect of age on the prognosis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of age on the prognosis in young breast cancer patients. METHODS: Nine hundred and seventeen patients, having undergone a breast cancer operation at our hospital, between January 1990 and December 2001, were included. The patients were divided into two groups: young age (under 35 years) and old age (> 35 years) groups. The factors analyzed included the tumor size, number of lymph node metastasis, stage, hormonal receptor status, c-erbB-2 status, p53 status, operation method and adjuvant therapy. These factors and the survival rates were compared between the two groups using SPSS 12.0. RESULTS: One hundred and twenty three (13.4%) and 794 (86.6%) patients were younger than and older than 35 years, respectively. There were no statistical differences in the clinicopathological factors between the two groups, with the exception of stage. The 5 year disease free survival rates in the young and old age groups were 67.0 and 77.5%, respectively (P=0.027). When adjusted for stage, the rates for the old and young age groups in stage I were 90.7 and 72.4%, respectively. Also, for stages II and III, those in the young age group had worse prognosis compared to those in the old age group. The 5 year overall survival was lower in the young age group, but with no statistical significance (P=0.108). CONCLUSION: The young aged breast cancer patients had a worse prognosis than the old age group. Therefore, aggressive adjuvant treatment should be considered to reduce the recurrence in young patient, despite the earlier occurrence of breast cancer.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1998;36(2):341-345
Pseudallescheria (P.) boydii is a true fungus that is ubiquitous in nature, and has a world-wide distribution. It has been isolated from soil, plant debris, polluted water and sewage. Infection may occur via direct inoculation or inhalation, and usually affects the extremities. It is a common cause of mycetoma characterized by tumefaction, draining sinuses and grains. It has polymorphism due to a complicated life cycle which undergoes teleomorph as well as anamorph stages. Cleistothecia, ascocarp and ascospore may be seen during the teleomorph stages, whereas scedosporium and graphium type may be seen during the anamorph stages. We report a case of P. boydii mycetoma occurring in a 69-year old male. He had multiple nodules with a discharging fistula on a dark red plaque at the dorsum of the right forearm. Cultural isolation for definitive diagnosis showed typical P. boydii. The lesion responded well to daily itraconazole.

Solar urticaria is an uncommon disorder characterized by pruritus, erythema and whealing occurring minutes after exposure to sunlight or artificial radiation, and generally resolves in a few hours. A 46-year-old woman presented with a 2-year history of pruritus and whealing, which occurred immediately after exposure to sunlight. Phototesting elicited urticarial reactions in the UVA and visible sepectra. The results of passive and reverse passive transfer studies were all negative. The patient was treated with cetirizine, doxepin and prednisolone. After 2 months of the treatment, the symptoms did not appear.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2006;18(1):102-114
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to develop a set of standardized nursing interventions and their associated nursing activities according to the NIC system to guide home care nurses in performing nursing intervention activities for hospice patients. METHOD: This study was a descriptive survey that first identified frequently used & specialized hospice nursing interventions based on the NIC systems and next validated a set of standardized nursing interventions and their associated nursing activities. One hundred chart records of home hospice patients were used to identify nursing interventions. Also, thirty-nine hospice specialized nurses participated twice using the Delphi technique to test the content validity of the standards. RESULTS: Among the nursing interventions, 19 important nursing interventions and 418 associated nursing activities were selected after two rounds of Delphi technique by hospice specialized nurses. The mean content validity of the final nursing activities was 0.82. In this paper, only the 3 most frequently used nursing interventions and 3 hospice specialized nursing interventions with their associated nursing activities are presented since space is limited. CONCLUSION: The nursing intervention standards will be a basis for home hospice nurses to improve quality of hospice care for hospice patients.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1997;35(6):1244-1249
We report three cases of unusual eosinophilic pustular folliculit is whose initial manifestation is indurated plaque rather than papule and pustule and one case of eosinophilic pustular folliculitis was found in an infant. None of the adult patients in these cases complained of any suhjective syrnptoms other than the skin lesion, but an itching sensation might be present in the case of the infant. In laborat ory test, eos nophilia was observed in only one case and any other abnormal results were not observed. In all cases, histopathologic study revealed numerous eosinophilic infil tration around the follicles exttending to the periappendageal and perivacscular area, that is consistent with the finfings of eosinophilic pustuar folliculitis. All adult patients relatively responded well to dapsone and topical stroid and the infant patient resporided well to topical steroids, But they had a chronic course with remission and exacerhation.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1997;35(4):830-834
We report herein a case of Gianotti-Crosti syndrome showing unusual features. A 12-month-old male patient presented with papular skin lesions on his face and papulovesicular skin lesions on the trunk, upper and lower extremities, which were distributed symmetrically. Three days before the skin eruptions, he had been immunized with a measles vaccination. Serologically, antigens of the type B hepatitis virus and antibodies to coxsackie virus B-4, Epstein-Barr virus, and varicella-zoster virus were all negative and antibodies to the measles virus (IgG, IgM) and the type B hepatitis virus were positive. After conservative treatment the skin lesions subsided with exfoliation within 4 weeks. An association with the measles vaccination and the initial papulovesicular skin lesions are considered as peculiar features of this case.

Korean Leprosy Bulletin 2018;51(1):23-28
Hansen's disease (leprosy) is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae which affect mainly skin and nerve systems. Currently the incidence of leprosy reached the goals set by WHO in the year 2000. In recent 10 years, only 47 new patients were found in Koreans and their average age was over 70. A 21 year-old young man showed multiple erythematous papules, macules and plaque at face, extremities and trunk. In family history, his grandfather was diagnosed with leprosy at young age and leprosy was recurred when the patient was 7 years old. The patient lived with grandfather from birth to 7 years old. Clinico-pathologically he was diagnosed with a lepromatous leprosy. We performed VNTR both at the skin tissue of grandfather and patient to find out the infection pathway of the patient and found some consistent. Herein, we report a new case of young Korean male transmitted from grandfather.
