Isothiazolone exhibit a broad-spectral antiseptic actions. The formalin fixed cadavers preserved in 0.1% isothiazolone aqueous solution for 3 years, revealed that the solution still kept clear, and the colour of the cadavers was well retained, and the gross structure of the cadavers was in good condition. Bacteriostatic test indicated that 0.05-0.1% isothiazolone solution was highly effective in inhibiting common septic bacteria and fungi, and was reliably effective in inhibiting the aspergillus flavus taken from the surface of the midewy cadavers. The chemical property of the isothiazolone solution was stable, and its T_(1/2) was 93.28 months, and the bacteriostatic effect might keep for 7 years. The solution was colourless, odorless and nonirritant. Toxicity test revealed its LD_(50) was 175mg/kg, and the Ames' mutation test showed a negative result, and the teratologic study indicated that it did not induce any skeletal malformations in neonatal rats. This study suggest that 0.1% isothiazolone may be used as a preservative to substitute for formaldehyde.

Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. It is characterized by rapid progression, high mortality, and frequent sequelae. Early diagnosis and timely treatment can improve patient survival and long-term prognosis. Biomarkers such as procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) have been widely used in the early diagnosis of sepsis, but there still exist limitations on their specificity and sensitivity. Microfluidic technology was applied for the detection of some biomarkers and pathogenic microorganisms, not only because it has a higher specificity and sensitivity for the early diagnosis of sepsis, but also has a certain evaluation value for the severity of sepsis and the prognosis of patients. These quick and accurate methods have the feasibility of clinical application. To demonstrate the value of microfluidic technology for early diagnosis of sepsis and to guide the improvement of future research, the application of microfluidic technology in the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis was reviewed in this article.

Objective:To investigate the predictive value of stone composition prediction method based on dual-source stone energy spectrum CT for uric acid stones. Methods:The clinical data of 204 patients with urinary stones, 159 males and 45 females, admitted to Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital from July 2020 to July 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The average age was (50.7±14.3) years. There were 187 cases of upper urinary tract (kidney, ureter) stones and 17 cases of lower urinary tract (bladder, urethra) stones. All patients underwent preoperative dual-source stone energy spectroscopy CT, measuring CT values at 150 kV and 100 kV, respectively, and the calculated dual energy ratio (Ratio) was used to predict stone composition. Of the 204 cases in this group, 33 cases underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy and 171 cases underwent ureteroscopic lithotripsy. Postoperative stone specimens were analyzed for stone composition by infrared spectroscopy. Subject work characteristic (ROC) curves were used to analyze the efficacy of preoperative dual-source stone energy spectrum CT to predict uric acid stones. Results:In 204 patients, preoperative CT predicted 28 cases of uric acid stones and 176 cases of non-uric acid stones, including 136 cases of calcium oxalate stones, 38 cases of hydroxyapatite, and 2 cases of cystine stones. Postoperative IR spectral analysis detected 26 cases of uric acid stones and 178 cases of non-uric acid stones, including 129 cases of calcium oxalate stones, 47 cases of hydroxyapatite, and 2 cases of cystine stones. Compared with the preoperative CT results, there were 2 false positives and no false negatives in the classification of uric acid stones. The ROC curve showed that the sensitivity of the CT value for predicting uric acid stones at 100 kV was 96.2%, the specificity was 99.5%, and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.995, with the best prediction value of 620 HU.The sensitivity of the CT value for predicting uric acid stones at 150 kV was 96.2%, specificity was 85.5%, AUC was 0.916, and the best predictive value was 597.5 HU. The sensitivity of using Ratio values for predicting uric acid stones was 100.0%, specificity was 97.9%, AUC was 0.996, and the best predictive value was 1.14. The CT values for uric acid stones at 100 kV and 150 kV were (558.58±77.07) HU and (521.12±83.54) HU, CT values for calcium oxalate stones were (1 335.26±301.82) HU and (878.21±200.21) HU, CT values for hydroxyapatite were (1 104.09±203.61) HU and (710.38±178.44) HU, respectively. The CT values of cystine stones were (684.5±67.18) HU and (573.5±67.10) HU, respectively, and the differences between uric acid stones and other components were statistically significant ( P<0.01). The Ratio values of uric acid stones, calcium oxalate stones, hydroxyapatite, and cystine stones were 1.08±0.06, 1.52±0.08, 1.62±0.40, and 1.19±0.02, respectively, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.01) when comparing uric acid stones with other components. Conclusion:The CT and Ratio values of dual-source stone energy spectrum CT can effectively distinguish uric acid stones from other types of stones, and the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of this method for predicting uric acid stones are high.

Chinese Journal of Lung Cancer 2022;25(6):420-424
Cachexia is a common complication in patients with lung cancer. It aggravates the toxic and side effects of chemotherapy, hinders the treatment plan, weakens the responsiveness of chemotherapy, reduces the quality of life, increases complications and mortality, and seriously endangers the physical and mental health of patients with lung cancer. The causes and pathogenesis of tumor cachexia are extremely complex, which makes its treatment difficult and complex. Controlling cachexia in lung cancer patients requires many means such as anti-tumor therapy, inhibition of inflammatory response, nutritional support, physical exercise, and relief of symptoms to exert the synergistic effect of multimodal therapy against multiple mechanisms of tumor cachexia. To date, there has been a consensus within the discipline that no single therapy can control the development of cachexia. Some therapies have made some progress, but they need to be implemented in combination with multimodal therapy after fully assessing the individual characteristics of lung cancer patients. This article reviews the application of drug therapy and nutritional support in lung cancer patients, and looks forward to the research direction of cachexia control in lung cancer patients.

Neuroscience Bulletin 2021;37(2):201-216
It is unknown whether the famous sex-related difference in emotion processing is accounted for by biological sex, gender role, or their interaction. To clarify the issue, in Study 1 we recorded event-related potentials in response to negative and positive images of diverse intensities when 47 masculine (26 males) and 47 feminine (22 males) subjects performed a non-emotional task. The occipital P1 and N1 amplitudes were larger in women than in men, while feminine subjects showed larger N1 amplitudes than masculine subjects, regardless of sex. Moreover, feminine subjects showed enhanced frontocentral N2 (210–270 ms) amplitudes for highly and mildly negative than for neutral stimuli, while masculine subjects showed an emotion effect only for highly negative stimuli. The feminine-specific effect for mildly negative stimuli was positively correlated to the feminine score, and this correlation was located to the anterior cingulate and the superior and medial frontal gyri. Furthermore, feminine but not masculine subjects showed enhanced parietal P3 (330–560 ms) amplitudes for highly and mildly positive than for neutral stimuli, an effect positively related to the feminine score and localized to the precuneus, posterior cingulate, and superior temporal gyrus. Machine learning analyses verified that single-trial N2 and P3 amplitudes of feminine subjects reliably discriminated the intensity of negative and positive stimuli, respectively. For ecological considerations, in Study 2 we used an observational approach (n = 300) and confirmed that feminine gender role, rather than biological sex, predicted individual differences in daily experience of emotion-related psychopathological symptoms. These findings provide solid evidence for the critical impact of gender role rather than sex on emotional susceptibility.

Malic acid is widely used in food, and chemical industries. Through overexpressing pyruvate carboxylase and malate dehydrogenase in pdc1-deficient Saccharomyces cerevisiae, malic acid was successfully produced through the reductive TCA pathway. No malic acid was detected in wild type Saccharomyces cerevisiae, however, 45 mmol/L malic acid was produced in engineered strain, and the concentration of byproduct ethanol also reduced by 18%. The production of malic acid enhanced 6% by increasing the concentration of Ca2+. In addition, the final concentration reached 52.5 mmol/L malic acid by addition of biotin. The increasing is almost 16% higher than that of the original strain.
