1.Association between Serum Amyloid A Levels and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Background:
To date, consistent data have not been reported on the association between serum amyloid A (SAA) levels and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The purpose of this study was to systematically summarize their relationship.
Methods:
Databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, and MEDLINE were searched until August 2021. Cross-sectional and case-control studies were included.
Results:
Twenty-one studies with 1,780 cases and 2,070 controls were identified. SAA levels were significantly higher in T2DM patients than in healthy groups (standardized mean difference [SMD], 0.68; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.39 to 0.98). A subgroup analysis showed that the mean age of participants and the continent that participants were from were related to differences in SAA levels between cases and controls. Furthermore, in T2DM patients, SAA levels were positively associated with body mass index (r=0.34; 95% CI, 0.03 to 0.66), triglycerides (r=0.12; 95% CI, 0.01 to 0.24), fasting plasma glucose (r=0.26; 95% CI, 0.07 to 0.45), hemoglobin A1c (r=0.24; 95% CI, 0.16 to 0.33), homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (r=0.22; 95% CI, 0.10 to 0.34), C-reactive protein (r=0.77; 95% CI, 0.62 to 0.91), and interleukin-6 (r=0.42; 95% CI, 0.31 to 0.54), but negatively linked with highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol (r=–0.23; 95% CI, –0.44 to –0.03).
Conclusion
The meta-analysis suggests that high SAA levels may be associated with the presence of T2DM, as well as lipid metabolism homeostasis and the inflammatory response.
2.Innate immunology research of glutaraldehyde-treated xenogenic blood vessels

Objective:To conduct a systematic study of the immunologic response of rats to transplanted glutaraldehyde ( GA)-treated porcine blood vessels in vivo.Methods: The experiment was divided into two groups:fresh group and glutaraldehyde-treated group.Twenty cases of fresh and glutaraldehyde-treated porcine pulmonary arteries were subcutaneously embedded in rats.We compared the changes using HE staining and immunohistochemistry.Results:HE staining showed that there were stronger expression on day 12 and day 30 in the fresh group than that in the glutaraldehyde group.There were similar results in morphology in CD68,C3,IgG.The results of integral optical density ( IOD) in immunohistochemistry showed that IOD started rising from day 4 and got the peak on day 12 or day 30 and or fell on day 60.Conclusion: Innate immunity played an important role in the research on xenogenic immunological rejection mechanism.The immunogenicity of glutaraldehyde-treated xenogenic blood vessels is lower than that in fresh blood vessels.However there is still immunogenicity in glutaraldehyde-treated xenogenic blood vessels.We will explore better ways to obviously weaken the rejection.
3.Correlation analysis between improvement of anxiety symptoms and thyroid hormone levels in patients with generalized anxiety disorder

Objective To explore the correlation between the change of the serum levels of thyroid hormone and the severity of anxiety symptoms in patients with generalized anxiety disorder after treatment with paroxetine hydrochloride.Methods 76 patients with generalized anxiety disorder treated in the Third People's Hospital of Huzhou from January to August 2023 were collected as study group,and they were divided into mild group(n=23),moderate group(n=30),and severe group(n=23),according to degree of anxiety by Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),69 healthy examination subjects in the same period were selected as control group.Patients in study group were treated with paroxetine hydrochloride tablets for 8 weeks,patients were evaluated anxiety symptoms,the serum levels of thyroid hormone were measured at baseline and 8 weekend,including triiodothyronine(T3),thyroxine(T4),free triiodothyronine(FT3),free thyroxine(FT4),thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),antithyroglobulin antibody(TG),anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody(TPO).Results After 8 weeks of paroxetine hydrochloride treatment,the significant efficacy rates of mild group,moderate group,and severe group were 73.9%,76.7%,and 73.9%,with no statistically significant difference in efficacy among three groups(x2=0.073,P>0.05).In the baseline period,FT4 levels of patients in moderate group and severe group were significantly higher than those in mild group and control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The severity of anxiety symptoms in the baseline period of patients in moderate group and severe group showed a low positive correlation and a significant positive correlation with FT4 levels(r=0.382、0.610,P<0.05).After 8 weeks treatment,the FT4 levels of patients in moderate group and severe group decreased significantly compared to the baseline period,and the difference was statistically significant(t=2.847,3.042,P<0.05).The reduction rate of HAMA score in severe group was positively correlated with the change in FT4 level during the baseline period and at the end of 8 weeks of treatment(r=0.517,P<0.05).By a binary Logistic regression analysis showed that the higher levels of FT4 in the baseline period with the worse efficacy in moderate group and severe group.Conclusion The improvement of anxiety symptoms could be affected by high baseline levels of FT4 in generalized anxiety disorder patients with moderate to severe anxiety.
4.Diagnostic Value of the Apical Relative Longitudinal Strain Indices Evaluated by Two-dimensional Speckle Tracking Imaging for Patients With Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Objectives:To identify the two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI)-derived longitudinal strain indices that reflect the myocardial functional characteristics of patients with apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM). Methods:This retrospective study included 30 patients with typical AHCM diagnosed at the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from January 2015 to May 2019 (AHCM group),35 patients with essential hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy (HTLVH group),and 45 healthy volunteers (normal control group) were also included.Two-dimensional echocardiography was used to measure the cardiac chamber size and wall thickness,and 2D-STI was used to analyze the longitudinal strain during the left ventricular systolic phase,the global longitudinal strain (GLS) and the longitudinal strain of the apical,mid,and basal segments (LSA,LSM,LSB) were assessed.The ratios of the apical to the overall and other segmental longitudinal strains were used as the apical relative longitudinal strain indices,including the apical to basal longitudinal strain ratio (ABLR,LSA/LSB),the apical to global longitudinal strain ratio (AGLR,LSA/GLS),and the apical to basal-mid segment longitudinal strain ratio (ABMLR,LSA/[LSB+LSM]). Results:GLS was significantly lower in the AHCM group and HTLVH group than in the normal control group (both P<0.05),and was similar between the AHCM group and HTLVH group (P>0.05).The LSA,LSM,and LSB were also significantly lower in the AHCM group and HTLVH group than in the normal control group,LSA decrease was more significant in the AHCM group as compared to the HTLVH group,while the HTLVH group was mainly characterized by a decrease in LSB,which was significantly lower as compared to the AHCM group (all P<0.05).Compared with the normal control group,the ABLR,AGLR,and ABMLR were significantly reduced in the AHCM group,while significantly increased in the HTLVH group (all P<0.05).The ROC curve showed that the AUC of ABLR,AGLR,ABMLR,and LSA was 0.873 to 0.916,using<1.28 as the cutoff value of ABLR,the sensitivity was 90.0% and specificity was 88.7% for diagnosing AHCM. Conclusions:The apical relative longitudinal strain indices can reflect the myocardial functional characteristics of AHCM patients,which are better than single apical longitudinal strain value.As the most representative indice,ABLR may be useful in distinguishing AHCM from left ventricular hypertrophy caused by other diseases,and can be used as a parameter for the evaluation of myocardial function damage in AHCM.
5.Ultrasonic manifestations of breast encapsulated papillary carcinoma:Comparison with breast invasive breast carcinoma of non-special type

Objective To observe ultrasonic manifestations of breast encapsulated papillary carcinoma(EPC)in comparison with breast invasive breast carcinoma of no special type(IBC-NST).Methods A total of 14 cases with pathologically confirmed EPC(EPC group)were retrospectively collected,and 28 cases of IBC-NST(IBC-NST group)with matched age,sex and time period were enrolled at the ratio of 1:2.The ultrasonic findings were compared between groups,and the ultrasound-related independent predictors for EPC were screened using multivariate logistic regression analysis.The coincidence rate of biopsy pathology to postoperative pathology,as well as the axillary lymph node metastasis rate indicated by postoperative pathology were compared between groups.Results There were significant differences of lesions'transverse diameter,longitudinal diameter,internal echo,posterior echo and axillary lymph nodes enlargement or not between groups(all P<0.05).Mixed internal echo was an independent risk factor,while posterior attenuation was an independent protective factor for EPC(both P<0.05).Both the coincidence rate of biopsy pathology to postoperative pathology and axillary lymph node metastasis rate showed by postoperative pathology in EPC group were lower than those in IBC-NST group(both P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with IBC-NST,EPC ultrasound often showed relatively larger lesions,mixed internal echo(cystic-solid),enhanced or not changed posterior echo and fewer axillary lymph node metastases.
6.A pilot survey of radiation doses for pediatric cardiac interventional procedures in two medical institutions in Beijing, China

Objective To understand the types, proportions, and radiation dose levels of pediatric cardiac interventional procedures. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted using the basic information and radiation dose data from all cases of pediatric cardiac interventional procedures performed at two tertiary medical institutions in Beijing from July 2023 to August 2024. The data included air kerma-area product, reference point air kerma, and fluoroscopy time. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted to evaluate the basic information and dosimetric indicators of the procedures. Non-parametric tests were employed to examine the differences between variables, and Spearman’s correlation coefficient was utilized to investigate the relationships among various factors. All cases were categorized into the diagnostic group and the therapeutic group. In the diagnostic group, the majority of procedures involved catheter examinations and angiography for identifying the type of disease. In the therapeutic group, the primary procedures included patent ductus arteriosus, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent foramen ovale, pulmonary stenosis, radiofrequency catheter ablation, major aortopulmonary collateral arteries, complex congenital heart diseases, and other interventional procedures.
