Objective This study aims to observe and analyze the result of implementing health management and intervention for chronic Keshan disease treatment. Methods Certain amounts of chronic Keshan disease patients in Keshan disease area were chosen and given health management and treatment intervention including primarily pharmacological treatment for the chronic congestive heart failure together with health education and life style instruction. From 2006 to 2008, three interventions were conducted every six month. Electrocardiogram description, proportion of heart to chest, classification of heart function, types of Keshan disease and labour capacity at the initial and the last stage of the intervention were taken as judging indexes. If one of the indexes was improved then the intervention will be regarded as effective. The number of effective cases and effective rate were counted in order to observe the impact of intervention times and different medicine on intervention results. Results Altogether 345 Keshan disease patients were involved in the study, among them 207 were effective, the effective rate was 60%(207/345). One hundred and eighty were involved in the intervention for once, and the effective rate was 44%(79/180). Ninty-one took part in the intervention twice, and the effective rate was 66%(60/91). Seventyfour attended the intervention for three times, and the effective rate was 92% (68/74). There were significant difference among groups of different intervention times (χ2 = 52.16, P < 0.01), and the effective rate increased with increased intervention times. Three times were higher than that of one or two times (χ2= 15.81, 49.56, all P< 0.0125). Twice were better than once(χ2 = 11.76, P < 0.0125). There were significant difference among groups of different medicine groups(χ2 = 19.56, P< 0.01). Among different medicine groups, the efficacy of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI) group was the highest 77%(82/106) while the cardiotonic medicine group was 50%(47/94) and cardiac muscle nutrition poisons was 54% (78/145). The efficacy rate of ACEI group was higher than that of cardiotonic medicine group and cardiac muscle nutrition poisons(χ2 = 16.28, 14.71, P< 0.0125). Conclusions The implement of health management and treatment intervention to Keshan disease patients is of great significant in improving the healthy condition of Keshan disease patients. Health education and life-style instruction as well as the use of ACEI, β-blockers and diuretic have comparatively obvious effect on treatment of chronic Keshan disease congestive cardiac failure.

RhoA, a small GTPase, is involved in a wide array of cellular functions in the central nervous system, such as cell motility, cytoskeleton rearrangement, transcriptional regulation, phagocytosis and cell growth. It is not known how spinal cord injury (SCI) affects the expression of RhoA in different nerve cells. In the present study, we investigated the changes of RhoA expression in remote areas of the injury at the 3rd, 7th and 30th day after SCI, which was established by T10 contusion method. Moreover, we examine its expression profile in neurons, astrocytes and microglia. RhoA was found to be weakly expressed in these nerve cells in normal spinal cord. Western blotting showed that, after SCI, the total RhoA expression was up-regulated, and the RhoA expression was increased and peaked at the 7th day. Double immunostaining revealed specific and temporal expression patterns of RhoA in different nerve cells. The expression of RhoA in neurons started to increase at day 3, peaked at day 7 and then decreased slightly at day 30. Expression of RhoA in astrocytes increased moderately after SCI and peaked at day 7. There was no obvious change in RhoA expression in microglia after SCI in remote areas. This study demonstrated that, after SCI, RhoA expression exhibited different patterns with different nerve cells of spinal cord. RhoA expression patterns also changed with time after SCI, and among different nerve cells in the injured spinal cord. These findings can help us better understand the roles of RhoA in SCI.

Objective To genotype Yersinia pestis and explore intrinsic relationship among different ecotypes of Yersinia pestis in Yunnan foci.Methods A total of 171 strains from three types of Yersinia pestis,house mouse,wild-type mouse and Yulong Yersinia pestis,were tested.Twenty-three different regions (DFR) were used to genotype and cluster analysis was performed using BioNumerics 5.0.Results A total of 171 Yersinia pestis were divided into 7 genotypes by 23 DFRs,which were Genomovar5,Genomovar7,Genomovar9 and 4 newly discovered genotypes.The genotypes of all Yulong plague were Genomovar5.The genotypes of the 16 strains of wild-type mouse plague (the highland of northwestern Yunnan Province type) were divided to 3 genotypes,13 of them were Genomovar 7,2 of them were Genomovar9,and 1 of them was newly discovered genotype Genomovaryn1.The genotypes of the 148 strains of house mouse plague(the residential area of Yunnan and Fujian Provinces type) were divided into 4 genotypes,145 of them were Genomovar9,and 3 of them were newly discovered including Genomovar-yn2,-yn3 and-yn4.The ecological typing results of clustering showed genotype of Yulong plague was similar to the highland of northwestern Yunnan Province type(wild-type mouse plague),and the percentage of similarity was up to 87.20％,but only up to 73.75％ to the residential area of Yunnan and Fujian Provinces type (house mouse plague).The genotypes of 2 wild-type strains of the highland of northwestern Yunnan Province type(wild-type mouse) and main genotypes of the residential area of Yunnan and Fujian Provinces type(house mouse)were Genomovar 9.The genotype of Genomovar-yn 1 of the highland of northwestern Yunnan Province type was similar to Genomovar 7,but lack of DFR 11.The genotypes of Genomovar-yn2,-yn3 and-yn4 of the residential area of Yunnan and Fujian Provinces type were similar to Genomovar 9,but lack of DFR 10,DFR 9 and DFR 11,respectively.Conclusions One newly genotype strain is found in wild-type mouse plague and 3 newly genotype strains are founded in house mouse plague.Wild-type mouse strains are founded in the house mouse strains.The similarity of genotype between Yulong plague and the highland of northwestern Yunnan Province type (wild-type mouse plague) is high while the similarity between Yulong plague and the residential area of Yunnan and Fujian Provinces type(house mouse plague) is low.

Background Recently,there were many studies on corneal innervations during mammalian development.However,there were fewer studies on discussing corneal innervations before and after mouse eye openings.Objective The present study was to investigate the change in the regulation of corneal nerve fiber length and density before and after mouse eye openings to offer a basis for clinical research in human.Methods Thirty SPF C57BL/6 mice were divided into postnatal 1 day(P1 d),P7 d,P13 d(1 day before eye opening),P14 d(eye halfopened),P17 d(1 day after eye opening)and P23 d(7 day after eye opening)groups,with 5 mice and 10 eyes for each group.Entire corneal stretches were prepared and immunostaining with an anti-neuron-specific β-Ⅲ tubulin antibody was performed to label the corneal nerve fibers.Confocal microscopic pictures from the corneal dorsal-nasal region (DN),dorsal-temporal(DT),ventral-nasal region(VN)and ventral-temporal(VT)were taken using Delta Vision Core.From these pictures,the mouse corneal area,total length and density of nerve fibers in the 4 regions were calculated.The use of the animals complied with Statement of ARVO.Results Corneal areas of P1 d,P7d,P13 d,P14 d,P17 d and P23 d mice were(0.404±0.007),(1.362±0.154),(1.573±0.080),(1.603±0.046),(1.847±0.052),(2.445±0.798)mm2,respectively ; the total lengths of nerve fibers were(3.718±1.044),(19.065±3.350),(23.687±0.907),(27.309±2.477),(31.989±3.976),(41.214±1.573)mm,respectively ; the densities of nerve fibers were(9.592±1.138),(14.506±1.908),(15.088±1.241),(16.772±1.897),(16.821±2.102),(17.660±1.216)mm/mm2,respectively,all showing significant increases with age(F =22.906,P =0.000 ; F =0.424,P =0.000 ; F =2.375,P=0.000).A positive correlation of the increasing corneal areas and increasing lengths of nerve fibers was found(r=0.983,P＜0.01).Nerve fiber densities in the four corneal regions significantly increased with age(DN region:F =0.159,P =0.000 ; DT region:F =2.1 72,P =0.001 ; VN region:F =1.998,P =0.000 ; VT region:F=2.352,P=0.000).From P13 d to P14 d,the corneal nerve fiber densities in the DN region decreased by 6.0％ without significant difference(t =0.589,P =0.572); and the corneal nerve fiber densities in the DT region,VN region and VT region decreased by 4.6％,5.5％ and 0.1％,respectively,without significant difference from P14 d to P17 d(t=0.549,P=0.596;t=0.701,P=0.501 ;t=-0.100,P=0.919).Conclusions The development of nerve fibers in the whole cornea or the four corneal regions is influenced by eye opening in mouse to various extents.From P13 d to P14 d,the corneal nerve fiber densities in the DN region decreased by 6.0％ without significant difference.From P14 d to P17 d,the corneal nerve fiber densities in the DT region,VN region and VT region decrease by 4.6％,5.5％ and 0.1％,respectively,without significant difference.Afterwards,the growth of nerve fibers increased in pace and the growth rate is recovered.

Objective To identify the arteriosclerosis (AS)changes in peripheral artery and abdominal aorta of patients with familial hypercholesterolemia(FH) during follow-up.Methods Seventeen patients of 6 FH [5 male and 12 female with average age of (16.12?6.65) years old],along with 17 subjects of matching sexes and ages with normal blood cholesterol as healthy control group,underwent examination by color doppler ultrasound,and changes of intima-media thickness (IMT) in peripheral artery and abdominal aorta,severity of stenosis,morphology,and function were observed.Results For 17 patients of FH,the total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) in serum were higher significantly and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was lower significantly than those in healthy control group(Pa0.05).The IMT of carotid aorta,subclavicular aorta,common abdominal artery,and common femoral artery in 13 patients were showing various degrees of increase,yielding an average of 2.9 mm.As patients aged,this phenomenon was reported to be more profound in common abdominal aorta and femoral artery.Conclusions Patients of FH show AS lesion in early stage and it worsened as they aged,from carotid arteries to common abdominal aorta and femoral artery.Color doppler ultrasound can be a non-invasive examination for monitoring the progress of AS in blood vessels in patients of diagnosed FH.

AIM:To optimize formulation of Xiao'er Magan Orally Disintegrating Tablet by central composite design-response surface methodology. METHODS:By two factors and five levels central composite design,independent variables were the proportion of optimized microcrystalline cellulose 50 and mannitol and the pressure,while disintegrating time and tensile strength were dependent variables. Binary linear and quadratic models were used to estimate the relationship between the dependent and the indepedent variables,and to delineate response surface method and overlay contour plots in order to select the optimal formulations. RESULTS:The binomial regression equation were TS =0. 096 88X1 + 0. 027 6X1X2(r = 0. 759),DT = 9. 845 4X1 -63. 196X2 + 40. 092 9X22 (r = 0. 838) which indicated the quantitative relationship between the factors and the evaluation indexes was characterized. The optimal formulation were the ratio of microcrystalline cellulose 50 and mannitol in the range of 0. 35 and 0. 6,and the pressure was in the range of 6 and 8 KN. CONCLUSION:The optimized formulation validation is close to the estimated value,indicating that the method has a good predictability and reliability.

Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of tumor associated gastrocolic fistula (GCF).Methods The records of the 4 patients with GCF between August 2008 to February 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.Three female and one male patients,those whose average age were 61 years,have been pathologically diagnosed postoperatively as gastrocolic fistula caused by malignant diseases.The main clinical symptoms were diarrhea (3 cases),fecal vomitus (3 cases),weight loss (4 cases),and abdominal pain (4 cases).Positive diagnostic tests for GCF included gastroscope (3 cases),colonoscope (1 case),barium enema (1 case),upper gastrointestinal contrast (2 cases).Results En-bloc resection of the involved gastrocolic region have been performed for all,2 patients underwent radical gastrectomy and colon resection and 2 patients were taken on palliative procedure.Pathology indicated adenocarcinoma all,Immunohistochemical detection for CK20,CDX-2 were applied for identifying the originations of tumors.Delayed gastric emptying and DIC occurred in one patient who died in 3 months after the operation,anastomotic leakages were found in 2 cases.The survival patients were all discharged and taken capecitabine combined with Oxaliplatin for chemotherapy.Conclusions Endaoscopy and gastrointestinal imaging are main evidences for diagnosis of GCF.En-bloc resection of the involved gastrocolic region were recommended,enterostomy was safer than entero-anastomosis in one stage procedure.The originations of tumors may be identifying according to the pathological characteristic and CDX-2,CK20 staining.Adjuvant chemotherapy should be applied.
