OBJECTIVE: To establish a staging standard for a transplanted hepatoma model in rats, which may be equivalent to the human primary liver cancer. METHODS: A transplanted hepatoma model was made in SD rats by implantation of histologically intact Walker-256 tumor fragment into the left lateral lobe of the liver. The body weight, tumor volume and serum albumin level of the rats were measured and assayed in different periods. Pathological sections were also fabricated to detect the invasion and metastasis of the neighboring tissues. RESULTS: The body weight loss and ascites occurred at the 12th and 18th day separately. The serum albumin level was (35.32+/-2.45) g/L at the 11th day, which showed no statistical difference as compared with the healthy rats (P>0.05), and the albumin level at the 18th day was significantly lower than that at the 11th day (P<0.05). At the 23rd day, 56.25% of the rats developed bloody ascites. CONCLUSION: The period between 5-11 days in the model rats may be correspondent to the early stage of human primary liver cancer, and the biological behavior of the model rats at the18th day may be correspondent to the late stage of human primary liver cancer. This staging standard might be the guideline for model selection in experimental study of primary liver cancer.

Space Medicine & Medical Engineering 2006;0(01):-
Objective To monitor state of environment control and life support system (ECLSS), and to diagnose faults and provide decision support in manned space flight. Methods According to the principle of decision support system, neural networks and the expert system, the foundational constructional structure and work flow of the ECLSS decision support system(EDSS) were designed, fault tree analyze(FTA) method was used to sort all of the faults and to form the expert knowledge framework, expert system and neural networks were integrated to adaptive learning from experience. Results In the two-men-five-days SZ-6 manned space flight, this software system worked well, and had reduced the difficulty and intensity of ground flight control and had provided good technological support for the consummation of this flight. Conclusion For the first time, the ECLSS decision support system is designed and implemented by using database and expert system technology. It can judge parameters state and diagnose faults exactly and rapidly, and the data models are designed correctly to give the rational result of parameter prediction.

Objective To study the effect of matrine on proliferation and metastasis associated the abilities of human highly metastatic ovarian cancer HO-8910PM cells and its possible mechanism.MethodsThe trypan blue staining and MTT assay were used to examine the effect of matrine on proliferation of HO-8910PM cells;Transwell chamber assay was performed to determine the effect of matrine on the invasive and migratory abilities of the cells;Coomassie brilliant blue staining assay was used to detect the changes in cytoskeleton treated by matrine at different concentrations and immunocytochemical methods were used to observe the expression of Ezrin protein in HO-8910PM cell line befores and after matrine treatment. Results There was an obvious dose-dependent and time-consuming effect on the inhibition of HO-8910PM cells proliferation by matrine;1.5 g/L matrine inhibited cell proliferation significantly, for 6 h after the treatment in vitro, the invasive and migratory abilities of HO-8910PM cells were also obviously down-regulated with the inhibitory rates(41.52?10.76)% and(39.73?10.67)%,respectively;Matrine distinctly changed the cytoskeleton and up-regulated the expression of Ezrin protein in HO-8910PM cell line treated with 1.0 g and 1.5 g/L matrine for 24 h.Conclusion Matrine inhibits the proli-feration,migration,and invasion abilities of HO-8910PM cell line in vitro, which may associate with the changes of cytoskeleton and Ezrin protein expression.

Objective To investigate the effect of Ginkgo biloba extract on serum divalent metal transporter1 ( DMT1 ) , glucose regulated protein 75(grp75) and nerve function in patients with Parkinson disease. Methods 38 cases of patients loith parkinson disease according to different drugs were divided into experimental group and control group, 19 cases in each group.Control group was treated with levodopa and Benserazide tablet, experimental group on the basis of control group, was given Ginkgo biloba extract tablets, treatment for 4 weeks. After treatment, DMT1, grp75 and cognitive function of all patients in substantia nigra were detected.ResuIts Compared with before treatment, two groups of patients with lower DMT1 level (P<0.05), compared with control group, experimental group of patients with lower DMT1 levels (P<0.05).Compared with pre-treatment, two groups of patients grp75 level was higher (P<0.05), compared with control group, experimental group after treatment grp75 level was higher (P<0.05).Compared with before treatment, the two groups of patients with MoCA scores were higher (P<0.05), HAMD scores were lower (P<0.05).Compared with control group, experimental group after treatment MoCA scores were higher (P<0.05), HAMD scores were lower (P<0.05).ConcIusion Ginkgo biloba extract can significantly reduce the level of DMT1 in the substantia nigra of Parkinson patients, increase the level of grp75, and improve the cognitive function.

Objective To observe the glucose profile in type 2 diabetic gastroparesis. Methods 31 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes were enrolled into this study for measurement of gastric emptying of solids and continuous glucose monitoring to observe blood glucose 1evels for 72 hours on a balanced diet;the results were compared with 7 subjects with norinal glucose regulation. Results 58.1%of 31 type 2 diabetic patients were found to have delayed gastric emptying of solids. The average glucose level was lower after breakfast[(7.82±1.42)mmol/L vs(9.35±2.28)mmol/L,P<0.01]in the patients with gastroparesis than in those without.Maximal blood glucose level after breakfast[(10.21±2.17)mmol/L vs (12.24±2.82)mmol/L,P<0.01]was lower in the patients with gastroparesis but it reached the peak at a similar time. Two hour AUC was also lower after breakfast in the patients with gastroparesis[(877.62±Post-prandial glucose levelin type 2 diabetic patients with gastroparesis tends to be lower than those without.

Abstract? AlM: To evaluate macular thickness and macular volume changes in people with diabetes mellitus but no significant decrease of visual acuity.?METHODS:A total of 87 eyes were collected in diabetic group. According to the international stage of diabetic retinopathy, these cases were divided into two subgroups:DR0 stage 54 eyes and DR1 stage 33 eyes. All the cases were received optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan in macular area;the scanning model is 512× 128; recording macular average thickness and macular volume, and compared with healthy subjects.? RESULTS: Macular average thickness and macular volume were higher in DR1 group than those in DR0 stage and control group, and differences were having statistical significance. But DR0 group and control group differences of the two indexes were not statistically significant.? CONCLUSlON: With the aggravation of diabetic retinopathy, the macular thickness tends to be thicken. Although without obvious visual loss, there have been slight morphological changes. Using OCT scan can find fundus changes earlier in patients with diabetes mellitus, and provide clinical basis for both early diagnosis and treatment.
