1.New therapeutic strategies for eradication of Helicobacter pylori in children
International Journal of Pediatrics 2016;43(12):905-908,909
Helicobacter pylori is closely related to many digestive system diseases, such as chronic gas-tritis,digestive ulcer, gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma and gastric cancer, also leads to chil-dren with iron deficiency anemia, growth retardation, asthma, allergic diseases etc. So it is a key strategy to pre-vent and treat these diseases by eradicating Helicobacter pylori. Due to the increasing rates of antimicrobial resist-ance of clarithromycin and metronidazole, the eradication rate of standard triple therapy is 1ess than 80%in re-cent years. Especially in areas of high clarithromycin resistance and standard triple therapy have not been recom-mended as first-line therapy,it is necessary to investigate a new therapeutic strategy to improve the eradication rate of Helicobacter pylori. The new treatments for eradication of Helicobacter pylori in children is mainly based on sequential therapy,bismuth-based therapy, concomitant therapy and probiotics treatment. This article reviews the research progress of the new treatments in recent years.

Objective To analyze quality of life (QOL) and its related factors in community middle-aged and aged people with osteoporosis (OP). Methods A total of 152 OP patients in one community in Shanghai were surveyed and their QOL was evaluated with a questionnaire integrated with the QUALEFFO-41 questionnaire. Factors were analyzed using a Kruskal-Wallis test and stepwise multiple regression. Results The QOL scores of these middle-aged and aged people with OP were generally low (62.58 + 14.06). Age, education level, milk intake, a history of fractures or illness, OP grade and menopause time were significant factors predicting QOL scores. Stepwise multiple regression indicated that fractures, illness, education level and menostasis time had a linear relationship with QOL. Conclusion The key points in improving the QOL of middle-aged and aged people with OP in the community are health education, early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment.

Objective To systematically assess the efficacy and safety of electroacupuncture for trigeminal neuralgia. Method Randomized controlled trials of a electroacupuncture treatment for trigeminal neuralgia were sought by a computer search of CNKI,Wan Fang Data,VIP,CBM,PubMed,EMbas and The Cochrane Library. The retrieval time limit was from March 1996 to March 2016. Two reviewers sifted the literature and extracted data independently according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria andthen assessed the riskofbias of the included literatureusing the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool.Ameta-analysis was made using RevMan 5.3.Result Finally, 12 articles were included with atotal of 847 subjects. The results ofmeta-analysis showed that the total efficacy rate was higher in the electroacupuncture group than in the control group [OR=4.04,95%CI(2.67, 6.13),P<0.00001].There were no statistically significant differences in the VAS score [MD=﹣0.06,95%CI(﹣0.59, 0.47),P=0.82] and the recurrence rate [OR=0.64,95%CI(0.05,7.45),P=0.54] between the electroacupuncture and control groups. Conclusion The currentlimited evidenceshows that the total efficacy rate fortrigeminal neuralgiais higher in the electroacupuncture group than in the control group. There are no statistically significant differences in the VAS score and the recurrence rate of trigeminal neuralgia between the electroacupuncture and control groups of patients. But the conclusions need more high-qualitytrials for validation owing to the limitation of the sample size of the included studies.

BACKGROUND:Drainage has been applied as a routine to hip and knee replacement surgery. However, as a potential channel, drainage could become a portal for bacteria and other pathogens to invade the joint cavity. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical significance and safety of drainage in total knee arthroplasty.
METHODS:The 80 patients were prospectively randomized into two groups:Group 1 included 38 patients with wound drainage;Group 2 included 42 patients without any drainage. According to a formula calculation, blood loss, the number of subjects requiring blood transfusion, volume of blood transfusion, complications and the recovery of function after total knee arthroplasty were statistical y analyzed.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The subjects were fol owed up for 2 years after discharge. Two patients lost to fol ow up in the non-drainage group. 78 patients were involved in the result analysis. The total blood loss, the number of subjects requiring blood transfusion and volume of blood transfusion were more in the drainage group than those in the non-drainage group after surgery. At 3 days after arthroplasty, active range of motion was larger in the drainage group than that in the non-drainage group. No significant differences in hemoglobin levels and Keen Society Score scores were detected after arthroplasty between the two groups. Results suggested that draining wil increase the blood loss and blood transfusion, but it may contribute to the early recovery of knee function. No significant differences in long-period Keen Society Score scores and postoperative complications were detectable between the two groups.
