In order to improve the surface properties of PLGA polymer for a better material/cell interface to modulate the cells behaviors, we prepared a novel three-block copolymer, PLGA-[ASP-PEG], and immobilized an RGD-containing peptide, Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro-Cys (GRGDSPC) on the surface of it. Transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1) was transfected into bone marrow stromal cells (MSCs) employed as seeded cells. Cell adhesion, spreading, proliferation and differentiation on this material were investigated. The results showed that the cell adhesive ratio on RGD-modified materials was higher than on un-modified materials (P<0.05). The extent of cell spreading was also wider on RGD-modified materials than on un-modified materials. Cell proliferation indices of transfected MSCs were increased as compared with the un-transfected MSCs (P<0.05). The ALP activities in the MSCs cultured with RGD-modified materials were higher than on un-modified materials after 14 days (P<0.05), and those in transfected MSCs were higher than in un-transfected MSCs (P<0.05). It was suggested that the combined use of RGD-modification and TGF-beta gene transfection could improve the interaction of biomaterial and cells.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) with urolithiasis. Methods The clinical data of 9 PHPT patients who were evaluated with simple metabolic evaluation in 881 urolithiasis from 2000 to 2005 were summarized and the references were reviewed. Results The level of serum calcium was (2.96±0.48)mmol/L before operation, (1.94±0.42) mmol/L after operation. The level of parathyroid hormone(PTH) was(1133.53±788.21)pmol/L before op-eration,(74.52±49.17)pmol/L after operation. The level of serum calcium and PTH changed significantly after the parathyroidectomy (P<0.01).Follow-up for 14 months to 6 years.the ureteral stones fragments with lithotripsy were clear after 3 months and followed without recurrence, although the renal stones without lithotripsy were followed with no significant change. Conclusions Increase of serum calcium or increase of PTH above double with normal serum calcium may be helpful for diagnosis of PHPT with urolithiasis.Ureteral stone with PHPT should be treated together.Renal stone with PHPT may be followed up after the parathv-roidectomy,and be treated until the complications were occurred. It suggests that the maidend diagnosed pa-tient with urolithiasis should be added with simple metabolic evaluation, including serum calcium, phospho-nium and PTH.

The acquisition and storage of the image data are important in the Chinese medicine resources survey, and it is important data and evidence for the process and the results. The image data of the Chinese medicinal materials' habitat, original plant or animal, processing in habitat, commodity form, the relative contents and workshop scenarios in the investigation are important for the compiling of the Color Atlas of National Chinese Medicine Resources, mapping the digital scattergram of the Chinese medicine resources, establishing the digital Chinese medicine plant herbarium and acquiring the documentary of the Chinese medicine resource survey. The content, procedures and methods of the video data collecting have been related and analyzed in this article to provide reference for the Chinese medicine resources survey.

Chinese Journal of Pathology 2010;39(4):240-244
OBJECTIVETo study the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2, MMP-9 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C in breast cancer and their role in lymph node metastasis.
METHODSImmunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of VEGF-C, MMP-2, MMP-9 and LYVE-1 in 84 cases of breast cancer, including 52 cases with and 32 cases without lymph node metastases. The recombinant vector (pSIREN-VEGF-C) was transfected into human breast cancer cell MCF-7 by liposome, and the RNA expression of MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF-C in MCF-7 cells after transfection was detected by PCR.
RESULTSThe expressions of MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF-C were 98.1% (51/52), 88.5% (46/52), and 94.2% (49/52) respectively for the metastatic group, and 75.0% (24/32), 53.1% (17/32), and 65.6% (21/32) respectively for the non metastatic group, and there was significant difference between these groups (P < 0.05). The lymphatic vessel density between these two groups was also significantly different (P < 0.05). Increased expression of MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF-C was also associated with increased number of lymphatic vessels had also increased (P < 0.05). The expression of MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF-C in MCF-7 cells after gene transfection decreased significantly (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONMMP-2 and MMP-9 in conjunction with VEGF-C, promote lymphangiogenesis and lymph node metastasis of breast cancer.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(02):-
In adipose tissues from sreater omentum of patients with type 2 diabetes, the mRNA and protein expressions of human rearranged immunoglobulin?light chain (HSIGVL) 022 were measured by the fluorescent quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry respectively. The results showed that mRNA and protein levels of HSIGVL022 were up-regulated in patients with type 2 diabetes. The mRNA level of HSIGVL022 was linearly correlated with insulin resistance index, suggesting that this gene may play a role in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

ObjectiveTo study the quality control methods for 99Tcm-TRODAT-1 kit and injection.MethodsThe appearance,pH,contents of the bases, the labeling yield, asepsis and bacterial endotoxins of 99Tcm-TRODAT-1 kits from three different batches were examined. The kit stability was estimated under different conditions. The transparence,pH,radiochemical purity,half-life,asepsis and bacterial endotoxins of 99Tcm-TRODAT-1 injection were tested.ResultsThe 99Tcm-TRODAT-1 kit and injection were both achromous and transparent, with pH values being 5.9 ± 0.1 and 5.5 - 7.0 respectively. The contents of stannous chloride and TRODAT-1 were stable. The labeling yield of the kit and the radiochemical purity of the injection were both ≥95%.The asepsis test demonstrated that the characters of 99Tcm-TRODAT-1 kit and injection were qualified.TRODAT-1 kit was stable at 0 -4 ℃ for 6 months or at room temperature (20 -25 ℃ )for 10 days, and the radiochemical purity of the injection was still > 90% at room temperature for 8 hours.ConclusionsThe quality control methods for 99Tcm-TRODAT-1 kit are simple and practical. The kit and injection are qualified and can be used for clinical application.
