Background and purpose: p21-activated kinase 5 (PAK5) is a recently identified member of PAKs that regulate many intracellular processes such as cytoskeleton remodeling, cell proliferation, cell differentiation, gene transcription and cell apoptosis. Recently, studies found that PAK5 was overexpressed in some cancer such as gastric and colon cancer. However, the expression status and biological function of PAK5 in osteosarcoma are not clearly known. The objective of this study was to investigate the expression of PAK5 in osteosarcoma tissue and their relationships with the prognosis of osteosarcoma. Methods: The expression of PAK5 was detected by using immunohistochemical method in 92 specimens of human osteosarcoma tissues and 33 cases of osteoclastoma tissue, respectively. Results: The positive rate of PAK5 was 71.7% (66/92) in all the 92 cases of osteosarcoma. PAK5 expressions were not related to clinical variables such as gender, age, tumor location, tumor size, histological type and local recurrence, but signiifcantly related to Enneking grade, tumor cell necrosis rate and lung metastasis, and the high expression of PAK5 may reduce the efifciency of chemotherapy. Survival analysis indicated that high expression of PAK5 correlated with poor prognosis of patients with osteosarcoma. Univariate survival analysis showed that the signiifcant prognostic factors were tumor size, Enneking grade, local recurrence, lung metastasis and expression levels of PAK5. COX multivariate regression identified that the PAK5 expression levels (P=0.001) and lung metastasis (P=0.015) were independent prognostic factors of patients with osteosarcoma. Conclusion:The positive expressions of PAK5 closely correlate with Enneking grade, tumor cell necrosis rate and lung metastasis. Detection of PAK5 may be used as a molecular marker for prognosis of osteosarcoma. The high expression of PAK5 may reduce the efifciency of chemotherapy.

Objective To explore the clinical effect of transvaginal repair of cesarean scar diverticulum (CSD). Methods Totally 64 patients of CSD in the First Maternity and Infant Hospital, Tongji University between Mar. 2013 and Sept. 2014 underwent transvaginal repair of CSD were reviewed retrospectively and followed. Result All the patients had a prolonged period, and the duration was (14.8± 3.5) days; all the patients were received the transvaginal repair of CSD, there was no intra-operative complications, the procedures were successfully performed in all patients. The mean operation time was (67± 12) minutes, the mean blood loss was (53±32) ml, and the mean length of hospital stay was (4.0±1.1) days. All patients were followed after the operation, the duration of menstruation was (8.1 ± 3.5) days shorter in average, which was statistically significant (P<0.01);the operation effective rate was 94%(60/64) to assess the clinic syptoms, the operation effective rate was 95%(61/64) for anatomic assessment. The distance of the CSD from the serosa became thicker after surgery significantly, the distance was thicker (3.4 ± 0.4) mm compared with preoperation (P<0.01). Conclusions Transvaginal repair of CSD offers minimal invasiveness, good exposure and accurate resection. It is worth to be popularized in the treatment of patients with CSD.

This paper summarizes the key points of safety management for 15 patients with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension treated by aerosolized iloprost. All patients achieved significant improvements and none of them suffered any severe side effect. Complete safety management during the therapeutic procedure improved the patients' treatment confidence and compliance, and thereafter strengthened the efficacy of treatment.

Objective To develop an effective and broad immune protective H5N1 vaccine. Methods We first developed two recombinant vaccinia ( Tiantan strain) virus ( rTTV ) based H5N1 vaccines, which consisted of bicistron expressing the hemagglutinin(HA) and matrix protein 2(M2), or bicistron expressing the neuraminidase(NA) and matrix protein 1 (M1). The expression of H5N1 protein in rTTVs was confirmed. We immunized the BALB/c mice twice with two kind of dose ( 104 PFU, 107 PFU)using different combination. Subsequently, we assessed the humoral and cellular immune response in vaccinated mice. Results Our data showed that rTTV-based H5N1 vaccine induced rapidly robust HA- and NAspecific antibody level and IFN-γ secreting form cell(SFC) with either single dose of 107 PFU or twice dose of 104 PFU or 107 PFU. We also detected significant neutralizing antibody and matrix-specific immune response. In addition, we found that immunization with two kind of rTTV-based H5N1 vaccines induced much high level of M2-specific antibody than that with single of rTTV-based H5N1 vaccine. Conclusion rTTVbased H5N1 vaccines in this study elicited board array of immunity and our study offers a promising alternative H5N1 vaccine candidates with favorable potential to prevent various H5N1 pandemic.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and diagnostic methods of cerebral schistosomiasis. Methods The data of CT,MRI and the cerebral spine fluid(CSF) immunoassay in 42 patients with cerebral schistosomiasis were analyzed retrospectively. Results Forty cerebral schistosomiasis patients were diagnosed by the iconography and immunoassay,1 by the postoperative pathological examination and 1 by diagnostic treatment with praziquantel. Conclusions CT and MRI are of great value to determination of the position and nature of the cerebral schistosomiasis. The sensitivity and accuracy of MRI are better for indicating the main pathological changes of the disease than those of CT.The CSF immunoassay plays an important role in the differential diagnosis of cerebral schistosomiasis.

Objective To investigate the distribution of death among human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immuno deficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS) cases in Guizhou Province from 1995 to 2017. Methods The HIV/AIDS death cases from 1995 to 2017 were downloaded from “Chinese National Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Prevention and care Information system” in Guizhou Province and were analyzed. Results From 1995 to 2017, Guizhou Province reported a total of 43 794 HIV/AIDS cases and 11 527 deaths according to current address. After excluding missing persons, the HIV/AIDS mortality rate of the province was 29.8%. The proportion of reported HIV/AIDS cases died in the same year ( 21995-2012=139.5, P<0.001; 22012-2015=28.2, P<0.001) and the proportion of HIV/AIDS cases ( 21995-2012=109.1, P<0.001; 22012-2014=57.2, P<0.001) who survived at the beginning but died later in the year all showed a trend being low-high-low. In the analysis of the detection history of death cases, the detection proportion of cluster of differentiation 4(CD4) T-cell and the proportion of antiviral treatment had been increasing year by year. The analysis of the cause of death found that the proportion of death caused by AIDS increased firstly and then declined, and the proportion of death due to excessive drug abuse showed a trend of declining year by year. Conclusions The mortality rate of HIV/AIDS in Guizhou Province was still high, and decreased rather slow. Expanding the coverage of HIV monitoring and screening is one of the key tasks of AIDS prevention and control. CD4+T-cell testing and free antiviral treatment should be strengthened to reduce the mortality rate of HIV/AIDS in Guizhou Province in the future.
