A remarkabale inhibitory activity was exhibited by the aqueous extract from Rhizoma smilacisglabrae(RSG) against both picryl chloride(PC)- induced contact dermatitis and sheep red bloodcells (SRBC)- induced footpad reaction.The effect of RSG was displayed more distinctlywheng given after than before the 2nd antigen challenge.RSG also showed a marked anti-in-flammatory activity against xylene- induced ear and egg whiteinduced footpad edema.Addi-tionally,RSG did not show a potable influence on IgM- and IgG-PFC counts against SRBC inmice.An increase but not decrease in serum hemolysin level,however,was observed in both groupsof RSG,peralleled with the finding that hemolytic plaques in PFC test were obviously biggerthan those in control.These results suggest that RSG has a selective activity to suppress the cellularimmune response without inhibiting the humoral immune response.The suppression to cellular im-munity by RSG may be presented mainly through affecting the inflammatory process after lym-phokine release.

Aim To investigate the periphery analge-sic effect of myricetin on a rat model of inflammatory pain and the mechanism. Methods Rat models of in-flammatory pain were induced by complete Freund ’ s adjuvant ( CFA) injection in left hindlimb plantar cen-ter. The thermal withdrawal latency ( TWL) was meas-ured before and after CFA or myricetin treatment. Elec-trophysiological method was used to identify the effect of myricetin on the action potential frequency and the voltage dependent potassium channel currents in small DRG neurons. Results Rats with CFA injected showed thermal hyperalgesia ( P <0. 05 ) and TWL in-creased significantly after myricetin intraperitoneally in-jected ( P <0. 05 ) . Current clamp recording showed the action potential frequency of small DRG neurons in rats was inhibited by myricetin ( P<0. 01 ) and voltage calmap recording showed the inhibitory effect of myr-icetin was enhanced by calcium depended potassium channel currents ( P<0. 05 ) . Conclusion Myricetin exerts periphery analgesic effect by enhancing calcium depended potassium channel currents and inhibiting excitability of small neurons of dorsal root ganglion.

Electrospinning is a new technique used to fabricate nanofibrous scaffold for guidance of tissue repair and regeneration. Electrospun scaffold simulates the structure and biological function of native extracellular matrix (ECM) and may provide an ideal engineered microenvironment for cell growth. In this paper, the principle of electrospinning technique and important processing parameters were briefly introduced. Investigations and developments in recent years regarding to the applications of tissue repair and regeneration were reviewed, several focusing issues of electrospinning were addressed as well. The significance and problems unresolved were discussed.

Objective To analyze the clinical data of 112 patients with adult-measles in the Af- filiated Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and Third People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University from January to June in 2005,and to evaluate the epidemiologieal and clinical characteristics of adult- measles.Methods To retrospectively analyze the clinical data of 112 patients with adult-measles. Results Totally,112 measles patients were involved in this study,with male 63 and female 49 re- spectively.The gender rate was 1.3:1,average age about 32 years and the proportion of non-resi- dents was 40.18%.The peak of the incidence of disease emerged in April and May,and the positive rate of measle virus IgM antibody in serum was 96.43%.There were 97 patients(86.61%)who had the fever that beyond 39℃and 36 patients(32.14%)who had measle caused viral hepatitis.Conclu- sions There is a trend that the ages of patients that suffered from measle were postponed and the in cidences of disease are increased year by year,which maybe related to the nonstandard inoculation of measle vaccine,or the decrease of IgM antibody levels and so on.Meanwhile,serious toxemie symp- toms and liver damage can be observed.

AIM: To study the protection of extract of Radix Atragali composite against acute hepatic injury. METHODS: Fed with the extract of Radix Atragali composite, m ice were injected with D-galactosamine intraperitoneally (800 mg/kg) and rats were i njected with carbon tetrachloride hypodermically (5 mL/kg) to induce acute hepat ic injury on the 8th day. ALT, AST and bilirubin in serum were examined. Patholo gical changes of liver tissue were observed. RESULTS: Compared with model group, activities of ALT and AST, c oncentrations of bilirubin were markedly decreased and pathological scores also showed that degeneration and necrosis of hepatic cell were lighter in the the ex tract of Radix Atragali composite treatment group. CONCLUSION: The extract of Radix Atragali composite attenuat es hepatic injury induced by D-galactosamine or carbon tetrachloride.

Objective To evaluate the anti-infection effects of biodegradable implant for sustained release of cefuroxime,which can be implanted into the anterior chamber in rabbits. Methods The implants for sustained release of cefuroxime were prepared with appropriate mixtures of cefuroxime axetil(CAE),poly(lactic-glycolic) acid(PLGA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone by solvent evaporation method.Fifty rabbits were selected and divided into experiment group(n=35) and control group(n=15).The concentrations of cefuroxime in aqueous humor 0.5,1,2,6 and 24 h after subconjunctival injection of 125 mg cefuroxime were measured in control group,and those in aqueous humor and plasma 1,2,3,5,7,14 and 28 d after implantation into anterior chamber were detected in experiment group.Besides,for experiment group,the intraocular pressure before and after the implantation were obtained;the inflammation of anterior chamber was routinely observed by slit lamp;and cornea tissues were harvested for scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy. Objective To investigate the effect of angiotensin Ⅱ (AngⅡ) type 1 receptor block irbesartan on the expression of renal cyclooxygenase-2 ( COX-2 ) in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods 18 rats were divided into control group, diabetes mellitus group and treating group.Immunohistochemistry was used to measure the expression of COX-2, matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1).The urinary TXB2,6-Ket-PGF1 αconcentration was determined by radioimmunoassay at the 6th week .Results There was an increasing expression of COX-2,TIMP-1 and decreasing M MP-9 ( COX-2:0.39 ± 0.02 vs 0.24 ± 0.04, TIMP :0.41 ± 0.03 vs 0.24 ± 0.02,MMP-9:0.24 ± 0.02 vs 0.32 ± 0.02, P ＜ 0.05 ) expression in the diabetes mellitus group ( P ＜ 0.05 ).Irbesartan could increase MMP-9 (0.29 ± 0.03 ) and depress TIMP-1 (0.34 ± 0.02) expression through inhibiting the expression of COX-2(0.31 ± 0.03) in renal tissue.Conclusions COX-2 was involved in the pathogenesis of the injury of type 2 diabetic nephropathy.Irbesartan might exert its renoprotective effects through inhibiting COX-2 activity, modulating the expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1.

Objective To summarize the experience of surgery for hypertensive intraventricular hemorrhage with self-made neuroendoscope-assisted equipments. Methods Twenty-two patients with ventricular hemorrhage, admitted to our hospital from January 2006 to May 2009, were chosen; surgery with self-made neuroendoscope-assisted equipments was performed on them. Results CT 24 h after the surgery showed that the clearance rate of intraventrieular hematoma was higher than 90% (median 92.7%). No hydrocephalus, postoperative intracranial infection or secondary hemorrhage appeared in all the patients. All patients were followed up for 6 months. According to GOS, the result was excellent in 9 patients, good in 8, fare in 3, poor in 1 and dead in 1. Conclusion Endoscopic surgery for ventricular hemorrhage with self-made neuroendoscope-assisted equipments is minimally invasive and effective with direct-vision, low complication and effective hemorrhage evacuation;it also improves good neurological outcomes.
