2.Preconditioning effect of isoflurane on mitochondria free calcium concentrate and mitochondria permeability transition pore after liver ischemia-reperfusion injury in rat brain

Objective To investigate the protective effect and the mechanism of isoflurane preconditioning on rat brain tissue suffering from rat liver ischemia-reperfusion injury .Methods 75 SD rats were randomly divided into five groups, sham group (S group);ischemia-reperfusion group (I/R group): liver ischemia for 60 min, reperfusion for 120 min;isoflurane preconditioning group ( ISO group ): 60 min before liver I/R, ISO pretreatment for 30 min; CsA +ISO group;CsA ( MPTP specific blocker ) 50 mg/kg intravenous injection , the same as ISO group after 30 min; CsA group:CsA 50 mg/kg intravenous injection .30 min before I/R.The animals were killed 24 h after ischemia and their brain were excised for measurement of mitochondrial permeability transition pore ( MPTP) and calcium content in mitochondria .The measurement of content of S-100βprotein in serum before ischemia and 120min after reperfusion through the application of Elisa kit.Results The mitochondrial Ca2+concentration of I/R group(287.32 ±26.17)was higher than that in S group (198.54 ±21.02) and the ISO group (209.74 ±29.49) ( P <0.05), and Ca2 + concentration of CsA +ISO group (267.31 ±37.52) was higher than the ISO group (P <0.05);there was not statistical significance between I/R and CsA group(288.63 ±23.15)(P <0.05).MPTP were more opened in I/R group(△S:1.73 ±0.24)than that in S group (△S:2.36 ±0.35)and ISO group(△S:2.11 ±0.32)(P <0.05),but MPTP were more opened in CsA +ISO group than that in ISO group (P <0.05).The content of S-100βprotein in serum was significantly higher in I/R group than that in sham and ISO groups (P <0.05),and the content of S-100βprotein in serum was significantly higher in CsA +ISO group than in the ISO groups ( P <0.05 ) .Conclusion The liver ischemia-reperfusion may injury the brain of the rat and isoflurane preconditioning can protect the brain on the rat .The reduce of mitochondria calcium overload and inhibition of MPTP opening are involved in the mechanism .
3.Effects of Aloperine on Proliferation and Apoptosis of Bladder Cancer EJ Cells.

Objective To investigate the effect of aloperine on the proliferation and apoptosis of bladder cancer EJ cells and to explore its mechanism.Methods;The experimental group was as follows:bladder cancer EJ cells were not treated (group A);25μmol/L aloperine was added (group B);50μmol/L aloperine was added (group C).100μmol/L aloperine was added (group D).The survival rate of the cells was detected by CCK8.The apoptosis rate was detected by flow cytometry.The expression levels of Bcl-2,Bax,p Erk1/2 protein were detected by Western blot.Results CCK8 results showed that:B,C,D group compared with A group,the cell survival rate were decreased (P < 0.05).The results of flow cytometry showed that the apoptosis rate of B,C and D group was higher than that of A group (P < 0.05).Western blot results showed that:B,C,D group compared with A group the expression of Bcl-2 and p Erk1/2 levels were reduced (P < 0.05),the expression of Bax level was increased (P < 0.05).Conclusion The survival rate of EJ in bladder cancer can be reduced by aloperine and induce its apoptosis,and inhibiting the phosphorylation of Erk1/2 may be the mechanism.
4.Application of angiographic gelfoam sponge embolization agents in 20 patients with massive hemorrhage following pelvic fracture

A total of 20 patients with massive hemorrhage for pelvic fracture, underwent angiographic embolization with gelfoam sponge embolization agents in 3-8 hours after admitted at the Department of Orthopedics, Changhai Affiliated Hospital of Second Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between January 2001 and August 2003 were selected. The patients aged ranged from 18-70 years (mean 43.4-year-old), including 12 male and 8 female. Conduits were inserted into the internal iliac artery embranchment of 8 cases with method of ultraselection, and gelfoam sponge grain and contrast medium were injected together. Conduits combined with gelfoam sponge grain and contrast medium were inserted into 12 cases’ pathic internal iliac artery bole. The whole 20 cases were performed endovascular embolization, and blood pressures turned to normal level after operation gradually without serious complications of embolization. One case died of deterioration after blood pressure stabilization. The result reveals that anglo-graphic embolization with gelfoam sponge embolization agents is a safe, quick and effective method of controlling the severe hemorrhage caused by pelvic fracture.
5.Correlation between B-type natriuretic peptide and fibrinogen in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease

Objective To explore the relationship between B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and fibrinogen (Fib) in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods According to the level of BNP,325 subjects aged more than 65 years were divided into four groups,BNP:≤32.4ng/Lgroup,32.5~62.3 ng/Lgroup,62.4~162.5 ng/Lgroup,>162.5 ng/L group.The levels of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF),left ventricular end-diastole dimension (LVEDD) and Fib were compared among the groups. Results With increasing BNP level,the LVEF was gradually decreased [(63.3±8.2)%,(59.6±7.4)%,(57.9±9.7)%,(55.2±10.6)%] and the level of LVEDD was increased[(50.5±4.7)mm,(51.4±5.4)mm,(52.8±5.7)mm,(54.2±5.9)mm ;F=11.54,6.76,both P<0.01],the level of Fib was enhanced [(3.4±0.7)g/L,(3.7±0.8)g/L,(3.8±1.1)g/L,(4.2±1.0)g/L; F=8.02,P<0.01].The level of BNP had positive correlation with Fib (r=0.25,P<0.01). Multi-linear regression analysis showed that Fib and LVEF were influencing factors of BNP (t =2.92, - 3.15, both P < 0.01 ). Conclusions The BNP level is helpful to diagnose heart failure and assess heart function.There is an association between BNP and Fib level.
6.Moyamoya Disease in Asia

Moyamoya disease is a rare cerebrovascular disorder, characterised by progressive stenosis and/or
occlusion of the intracranial internal carotid artery and its proximal branches with the development
of a basal collateral network. Moyamoya disease has a high prevalence in Asia, particularly in Japan,
Korea and China. Ischemic events and intracranial bleeding are the most common clinical manifestation
of moyamoya disease. Although the benefi cial effect on hemorrhage is still not clear, revascularisation
surgery remains the most effective way to prevent the progression of ischemic symptoms. Moyamoya
disease has been investigated by numerous studies since it was fi rst described 50 years ago, many
conundrums remain to be solved. In this article, we review the history, epidemiology, aetiology, clinical
manifestation, diagnosis and treatment of moyamoya disease. Recent advances and future challenges
of moyamoya disease are also discussed.
7.Protective effect of schizandrin B against oxidative damage of UVB irradiated HaCaT cells and its molecular mechanism

Aim To investigate the inhibitory effect of schizandrin B( SchB) on ultraviolet radiation b ( UVB) radiation-induced apoptosis of HaCaT cells. Methods Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium ( MTT ) assay was used to examine the effect of SchB on cell viability recovery. Cell apoptosis and necrosis were measured by Ho-chest33342 staining. The p53, p21 and Caspase-3 mRNA expressions were examined by RT-PCR. Results In this study, we found that Sch B attenuated UVB-in-duced toxicity in HaCaT cells. Through Hoechst 33342 stain, we visualized that SchB could inhibit UVB-in-duced HaCaT cell death. The result demonstrated that p53 , p21 and Caspase-3 mRNA levels decreased com-pared with the control group. Conclusions Sch B at-tenuates the UVB-induced toxicity of HaCaT by inhibi-ting apoptotic gene expression. It plays a role in anti-photoaging.
8.Use of serum immunofixation electrophoresis for the diagnosis of renal diseases

Objective To evaluate the accuracy and sensitivity of three techniques in the diagnosis of renal diseases following multiple myeloma. Methods 41 serum samples from the kidney-damaged patients with multiple myeloma and 36 from the control group with general renal diseases were detected by quantitative analysis of immunoglobulins, serum protein electrophoresis and serum Immunofixation Electrophoresis. The accuracy and sensitivity of the three techniques were analysed by Two-way ANOVA and Multiple Comparisons of the check-out rate of monoclonal immunoglobulin. Results No monoclonal components were checked out by quantitative analysis of immunoglobulins. The checkout rate of IgG and IgM myelomas were 100% by serum protein electrophoresis, which had application limit on other types of myelomas. Whereas all secretarial myelomas could be diagnosed and typied by Immunofixation Electrophoresis, the sensitivity and accuracy was 100%, there was no false positive in the control group. Comparing with quantitative analysis of immunoglobulins and serum protein electrophoresis, serum Immunofixation electrophoresis had higher sensitivity and accuracy in diagnosis of renal diseases following multiple myeloma ( P

10.Correlation between blood lipids and creatinine clearance in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease

Objective To explore the relationship between blood lipids and creatinine clearance (Ccr)in aged patients with coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods According to coronary artery angiography(CAG)and Ccr,784 subjects aged 65 years and over were divided into groups and Their lipid levels were compared.Results With increasing lesion of coronary branches,the level of Ccr was obviously decreased(F=5.35,P<0.01).The level of apolipoprotein A1(ApoA1)was reduced and apolipoprotein B(ApoB)enhanced in renal function of moderate-severe injury(CCr<0.83 ml ·s-1 · 1.73m-2)(F=5.31,F=4.91,both P<0.01).The level of ApoA1 was decreased(F=3.52,P<0.05)and Apo B increased(F=5.65,P<0.01)in male renal function of moderate-severe injury.The levels of ApoA1 decreased(F=5.79,P<0.01),ApoB increased(F=4.56,P<0.05)and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol reduced(F=3.39,P<0.05)in CHD with renal group of moderatesevere injury.Multi-logistic regression analysis showed that Ccr,HDL-C,ApoA1 and ApoB were influencing factors of CHD.Conclusions Abnormal blood lipid and renal dysfunction are risk factors of CHD,dyslipidemia may induce renal dysfunction.It is important to control lipids and improve other organ functions in the aged patients with CHD.
