Objective To evaluate the usefulness of contrast enhanced ultrasound in the diagnosis of breast lesions. Methods Contrast enhanced ultrasound was performed after administration of SonoVue in 104 patients scheduled for surgical tumor removal. The enhancement morphology was classified as non, peripheral, homogeneous, regional,or heterogeneous enhancement based on distribution of enhancing areas. All breast lesions enhancement morphology were analyzed, and the diagnostic value of contrast enhanced ultrasound was calculated. Results The prevalence of non enhancement was significantly higher in benign lesions than in malignant ones(P = 0.013),and the prevalence of peripheral enhancement was significantly higher in malignant lesions than in benign ones (P = 6.02 × 10-7). Conclusions Contrast enhanced ultrasound is useful in diagnosis of breast lesions.

Objective To observe the effects of mechanical ventilation with different tidal volumes (Vt) on the pulmonary surfactant in dogs during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and discuss the strategy of mechanical ventilation for CPR.Methods A total of 24 healthy, adult and mongrel canines were randomly (random number) divided into three groups, namely control group (A),low Vt group (B) and high Vt group (C).Canines without ventricular fibrillation in group A were not supported with mechanical ventilation, while canines in group B and group C were induced to get ventricular fibrillation (VF) with pacing catheter inserted through right external carotid vein into the right ventricle.CPR was initiated with mechanical ventilation with different Vt for 6 hours after ventricular fibrillation. The Vt set in group B was 6 ml/kg body weight and Vt set in group C was 20 ml/kg body weight. The arterial blood gas analyses were tested in different intervals. The levels of phosphatidylchline in bronchia alveolus lavage fluid (BALF) was assayed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The ratio of wet and dry weight and the morphological change scores of lung tissue were calculated. Results After ventricular fibrillation,pH,PaO2 in both groups B and C decreased and PaCO2 increased in comparison with those before VF (P < 0.05),while pH,PaO2 and PaCO2 were improved after mechanical ventilation. These was statistical difference in PaCO2 between group B and group C 2 h after mechanical ventilation (P < 0.05).There was difference in HCO3-between group B and group C 6 h after ROSC.The rate of successful restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and the 72 h survival rate were 75% and 50% respectively in group B,and 62.5% and 40% respectively in group C.There were no statistically different between two groups (P > 0.05).The levels of phosphatidylchline in BALF of group B and C greatly decreased compared with the group A (All P <0.01),while phosphatidylcholine detected in the group C decreased much more than that in the group B (P <0.01).The W/D ratio and morphological change scores in the group C were higher than those in the group B (P < 0.01).Conclusion Low tidal volume ventilation can reduce the loss of pulmonary surfactant and mitigate pulmonary injury. Therefore it may be a protective ventilation strategy after resuscitation.

Objective To evaluate and demonstrate ultrasonographic characteristics of mandibular ameloblastoma with active proliferation. Methods Nineteen subjects with ameloblastomas in the mandibles were examined with ultrasonography. In addition to sizes, internal echoes, the research was focused on blood flow of the tumors and destruction of mandibles. Ultrasonographic appearances of the tumors were compared with histopathological findings. Sensitivity and specificity of Doppler flow signals and destruction of mandibles for prediction of active tumor proliferations were calculated. Results Fifteen cases (79%)showed no or minimal flow signals on color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI), whereas the remaining 4 lesions demonstrated abundant flow signals,in which 3 cases were confirmed histopathologically with active tumor proliferations. The sensitivity and specificity of the Doppler flow signals for prediction of active tumor proliferations were 100% and 94%, respectively. Fourteen cases (74%) showed the mandibular cortices were thin but continuous, among the remaining 5 lesions showed local cortices destruction,3 of them were confirmed histopathologically with active proliferations. The sensitivity and specificity of the destruction of cortical bone for prediction of active tumor proliferations were 100% and 88 %, respectively. Conclusions Ultrasonography can be used as a new effective supplementary diagnostic method for mandibular ameloblastomas. CDFI of tumor vascularity and destruction of cortical bone could be used to predict active tumor proliferations and invasiveness.

BACKGROUND: Human acellular amniotic membrane is a kind of extracellular matrix material with good biocompatibility and biological activity. It has been widely used in various clinical studies because of its low immunogenicity, small rejection and easy preparation.OBJECTIVE: To review the applications of human acellular amniotic membranes in tissue engineering field, such as skin, blood vessel, cornea, cartilage and bone.METHODS: CNKI (from January 2005 to May 2017), CBMdisc (from January 2005 to May 2017), PubMed (from January 1990 to May 2017) and Elsevier (from January 1990 to May 2017) were retrieved for articles addressing the application of human acellular amniotic membrane as a tissue-engineered scaffold in the bone, cartilage, skin, and blood vessels. The keywords were acelluar amniotic membrane, scaffold, material, tissue engineering ECM in Chinese and English, respectively.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Human acellular amniotic membrane owns the structure and function of the natural extracellular matrix, which can be combined with stem cells from different sources to differentiate into different tissues and organs, such as bone, cartilage, skin, blood vessel, and corneal tissues. As a tissue-engineered scaffold, human acellular amniotic membrane has good biocompatibility, biodegradability and low immunogenicity, although it has some shortcomings, such as poor strength and post-transplantation rejection reactions. Therefore, the future studies are mainly focused on shortening the adhesion time between cells and scaffolds, increasing the own mechanical strength of human acellular amniotic membrane, optimizing the cell growth microenvironment, and combining human acellular amniotic membrane with other tissue-engineered scaffolds.
