Objective:
To explore the longitudinal mediating role of dispositional envy between upward social comparison to social networking and depression in college students, so as to provide a reference for depression prevention in college.
Methods:
Using convenience cluster sampling, a total of 1 487 college students from 7 universities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and other provinces of China were recruited to participate in a three month longitudinal study, which contained 3 waves of date collection in September 2019 (T1), October 2019 (T2) and November 2019 (T3). These college students were surveyed with Social Network Site Upward Comparison Questionnaire, Dispositional Envy Scale and Depression Scale. Correlations analysis, missing value and common method biases were performed with SPSS 25.0. Confirmatory factor analysis and longitudinal mediation analysis were performed by Mplus 8.3.
Results:
The detection rates of depression of college students in the first to third (T1-T3) wave were 3.6%, 4.2%, and 2.8% . The upward social comparison to social networking (T1:2.81±0.94, T2:2.69±0.99, T3:2.47±1.06), dispositional envy (T1:1.97±0.75, T2: 1.87 ±0.74, T3:1.76±0.75) and depression (T1:1.81±0.66, T2:1.74±0.65, T3:1.68±0.69) of college students showed a decreasing trend, and time main effects were statistically significant ( F=71.97, η 2=0.050; F=57.84, η 2= 0.040 ; F=39.64, η 2= 0.030 , P <0.01). T1 upward social comparison to social networking significantly predicted T2 dispositional envy ( β =0.25); T1 upward social comparison to social networking significantly predicted T3 depression ( β =0.10); T2 dispositional envy significantly predicted T3 depression ( β =0.55), showing that the longitudinal mediating role of dispositional envy was statistically significant ( P <0.01), the indirect effect accounted for 58.3%.
Conclusions
College students upward social comparison to social networking indirectly affects depression through the dispositional envy. Intervening dispositional envy could reduce college students depression levels in the future.

International Journal of Pediatrics 2023;50(4):277-281
Objective:To investigate the prevalence of enterovirus infection and its clinical characteristics in neonatal febrile cases. Methods:A total of 308 neonates in the neonatal ward of Kunming Children′s Hospital with febrile symptoms from March 2018 to February 2019 were selected for the study.Fecal specimens and some (271) cerebrospinal fluid specimens were collected from all neonates.Enterovirus was respectively detected in feces and cerebrospinal fluid by using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. The rate of enterovirus infection in febrile neonates was clarified. They were divided into enterovirus infection group ( n=91) and no enterovirus infection group ( n=217). The clinical data of the subjected neonates in the two groups were analyzed and the clinical manifestations of the neonates and their laboratory findings were compared statistically. Results:Ninety-one enteroviruses (90 enterovirus were general type, and 1 was coxsackievirus A16 type) were detected in 308 children, accounting for 29.55% of all neonates.Viral RNA was detected in only 1 case [0.37% (1/271)]of all examined cerebrospinal fluid specimens, which was significantly lower than the detection rate of 29.55% (91/308) in fecal specimens. There were no fatal cases, but there was one severe case in enterovirus infection group.Except for the severe case which was discharged automatically, all of them improved or healed and discharged from hospital. The clinical manifestations of the enterovirus infection group were non-specific statistically compared with the non-enterovirus infection group(all P>0.05), except for respiratory symptoms and skin rash(all P<0.05). The incidence of enterovirus infection was significantly seasonal[83.52%(76/91)in summer and autumn]. Conclusion:In the epidemic season of enterovirus, it is recommended to list fecal enterovirus as a routine test item to improve the accuracy and timeliness of diagnosis and treatment, and avoid the application of unnecessary antibiotics and the outbreak of enterovirus in the neonatal ward.

Epidemiology and Health 2023;45(1):e2023051-
OBJECTIVES:
One of the underlying mechanisms of aging is chronic inflammation, which has been closely associated with daily diet. Phenotypic age (PhenoAge) has been used as an index to track the aging process before diseases show clinical symptoms. The present study aimed to explore the association between the dietary inflammatory index (DII) and PhenoAge.
METHODS:
In total, 9,275 adults aged 20 years old and over in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were involved in this study. Dietary patterns were classified as pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory according to the DII. PhenoAge was regarded as a continuous variable, and linear regression was used to explore its association with dietary inflammation. Stratified analyses by sex, age, race, physical exercise, smoking status, drinking status, and body mass index were used to test the sensitivity of these associations.
RESULTS:
The median value of PhenoAge was 38.60 years and 39.76 years for the participants with anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory diets, respectively. A pro-inflammatory diet was positively associated with PhenoAge (β=0.73; 95% confidence interval, 0.31 to 1.14), compared with participants who had an anti-inflammatory diet. There was an interaction between dietary inflammation and age for PhenoAge (pinteraction<0.001). The strength of the association between a pro-inflammatory diet and PhenoAge was stronger as age increased.
CONCLUSIONS
A pro-inflammatory diet was associated with a higher PhenoAge, and the association was strongest in the elderly. We recommended reducing dietary inflammation to delay phenotypic aging, especially for the elderly.

Objective:To investigate the related risk factors related to patellar dislocation combined with osteochondral fracture (OCF).Methods:A case control study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of 278 patients with patellar dislocation admitted to Second Hospital of Lanzhou University from January 2016 to June 2020, including 98 males and 180 females; aged 12-41 years [(21.1±4.6)years]. The patients were divided into OCF group ( n=112) and non-OCF group ( n=166) according to the surgical records and occurrence of OCF or not under intraoperative arthroscopy. The data of the two groups were recorded, including basic characteristics (ie, sex, age, sides of injury, whether or not the epiphysis is closed), patella height, patellar inclination angle, tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG), femoral trochlear shape, tibial lateral rotation angle and femoral anteversion angle. Univariate analysis was adopted to evaluate the correlation of the data with patellar dislocation combined with OCF. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to determine the independent risk factors of patellar dislocation combined with OCF. Results:Univariate analysis showed that patellar dislocation combined with OCF was related to male, patellar inclination angle and femoral anteversion angle ( P<0.05 or 0.01), while not to age, epiphysis is closed or not, sides of injury, patella height, TT-TG, femoral trochlear shape and tibial lateral rotation angle (all P>0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that male ( OR=1.75, 95% CI 1.07-2.90, P<0.05) and increased femoral anteversion angle ( OR=3.12, 95% CI 1.89-5.17, P<0.05) were significantly correlated with patellar dislocation combined with OCF. Conclusion:Male and increased femoral anteversion angle are independent risk factors for patellar dislocation combined with OCF.

Objective:To investigate the correlation between preterm infants with brain injury and the proportion of lymphocyte subsets, especially γδ-T cells in the postnatal peripheral blood, and to determine the predictive potential of γδ-T cells in the early peripheral blood in brain injury. Methods:It was a prospective study involving 106 preterm infants with gestational age less than 34 weeks who were delivered in the Department of Neonatology, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 1, to June 1, 2021.Relative levels of γδ-T , CD4 + T, CD8 + T, CD3 + T and total lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood collected within the first 24 hours after birth were measured by flow cytometry.Recruited infants were divided into brain injury group (36 cases) and non-brain injury group (70 cases) according to serial cranial ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) at the corrected gestational age of 36-37 weeks.Differences in general conditions and the proportion of lymphocyte subsets between groups were compared by the t-test or Chi- square test.Patients in brain injury group were further divided into intracranial hemorrhage(ICH) group(8 cases), periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) group (6 cases)and diffuse white matter damage (WMD) group(22 cases). The proportion of lymphocyte subsets among the different groups was compared by One- Way ANOVA, followed by the LSD- t test. Results:The proportion of γδ-T cells in postnatal peripheral blood of preterm infants at 24 hours after birth in brain injury group was significantly lower than that of non-brain injury group [(0.09±0.12)% vs.0.15±0.13)%, t=-2.445, P=0.016]. No significant differences in the proportion of the CD4 + and CD8 + T cell subsets were found between them. Both preterm infants in PVL group and WMD group had a significantly lower proportion of γδ-T cells at 24 hours after birth compared to that of the non-brain injury group [(0.03±0.05)%, (0.07±0.09)% and (0.15±0.13)%], respectively, ( t=-2.190, -2.659, all P<0.05). Conclusions:γδ-T cells in early postnatal peripheral blood may be involved in the development of brain injury in preterm infants and they had early predictive value for preterm infants at high risk of brain injury, especially the leukomalacia and diffuse white matter injury.

OBJECTIVES:
The magnesium depletion score (MDS) is considered more reliable than traditional approaches for predicting magnesium deficiency in humans. We explored the associations of MDS and dietary magnesium intake with diabetes.
METHODS:
We obtained data from 18,853 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011-2018. Using multivariate regression and stratified analysis, we investigated the relationships of both MDS and magnesium intake with diabetes. To compute prevalence ratios (PRs), we employed modified Poisson or log-binomial regression. We characterized the non-linear association between magnesium intake and diabetes using restricted cubic spline analysis.
RESULTS:
Participants with MDS ≥2 exhibited a PR of 1.26 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.19 to 1.34) for diabetes. Per-standard deviation (SD) increase in dietary magnesium intake was associated with a lower prevalence of diabetes (PR, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.87 to 0.96). Subgroup analyses revealed a positive association between MDS ≥2 and diabetes across all levels of dietary magnesium intake, including the lowest (PR, 1.35; 95% CI, 1.18 to 1.55), middle (PR, 1.23; 95% CI, 1.12 to 1.35), and highest tertiles (PR, 1.25; 95% CI, 1.13 to 1.37; pinteraction<0.001). Per-SD increase in magnesium intake was associated with lower diabetes prevalence in participants with MDS <2 (PR, 0.92; 95% CI, 0.87 to 0.98) and those with MDS ≥2 (PR, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.84 to 0.98; pinteraction=0.030).
CONCLUSIONS
MDS is associated with diabetes, particularly among individuals with low magnesium intake. Adequate dietary magnesium intake may reduce diabetes risk, especially in those with high MDS.
