Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(03):-
Total Glucosides of Paeony Root ( TGPs, 5-40 mg/kg) had a dose-related increasing effect on the survival time of mice under normobaric hypoxia. TGPs (20 mg/kg) had a significant increasing effect on survival time of mice under hypobaric hypoxia & a decreasing effect in the oxygen consumption in mice. TGPs ( 40mg/kg ) decreased the mortality of mice from the acute hypoxia induced by KCN. Increasing effect on the survival time of mice under normobaric hypoxia of TGPs was significantly antagonised by chlortrimeton. The efficacy of TGPs (icv 2.5-5 mg/kg) approximated to that of TGPs (ip 5-40 mg/kg) respectively. It suggested that the effect of TGPs on resistance to hypoxia was produced by central nervous system. The efficacy of TGPs ( icv) was significantly antagonised by chlortrimeton. It was shown that the effect of TGPs was produced by H1-receptor. In the experiment of resistance to hypoxia of TGPs (ip or icv), we measured the change of rectal temperature of mice. The data indicated the positive corr- elation of both effects of TGPs (r=0.58, P

AIM: To observe the curative efficacy of Shenkang Bolt(SKB) in treating chronic renal failure(CRF) with blood silt and damp pathogen syndrome. METHODS: The randomized, parallel and controlled trial were used.38 cases in treatment group were treated with SKB,and 40 cases in control group were clystered with Chinese herbal medicine. The changes of the cumulative scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome, the levels of serum creatinine(SCr) and creatinine clearance rate(CCr) before and after treatment in both groups were observed. RESULTS: The total effective rate was 81.5% in the treatment group, but 75% in the control group. The scores of TCM syndrome and the levels of SCr were both significantly decreased(P(0.05)). CONCLUSION: SKB can markedly improve the clinical manifestations of CRF with blood silt and damp pathogen syndrome, decrease the levels of SCr,but increase CCr.There was no difference between Chinese herbal clysis and Shenkang Bolt in curative effect, but it is convenent to take Shenkang Bolt.

Objective To investigate the effects of icarrin on the activity and protein expression of core binding factor otl(Cbfa1) in rat osteoblasts cultured in vitro, and to explore whether mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway is involved in this process. Methods Calvarial osteoblasts were obtained from newborn (<24 h) SD rats by trypsin-coUagenase digestion method. The second generation osteoblasts were cultured in the medium containing icariin (10 ng/ml) or estradiol (10-8 mol/L) with or without extracellular-signal regulated kinase (ERK) inhibitor (UO126) or p38MAPK inhibitor (SB203580).Nuclear protein was extracted from osteoblasts. And then the activity of Cbfa1 was detected by ELISA.The amounts of Cbfa1 protein were detected by Western blot. Results Calvarial osteoblasts were obtained successfully and were used in this study after indentified by alkaline phosphatase and mineralized nodus staining.Cbfa1 expression and the activity in osteoblasts were up-regulated by both icariin and estradiol (P<0.05).The effects were partly inhibited by addition of U0126or SB203580 (P<0.05).Conclusions Either icarrin or estradiol can stimulate the proliferation and maturation of cultured osteoblasts in vitro via up-regulating the activity and expression of Cbfal. The MAPK signal pathway inhibitor seems to partly decrease Cbfa1 activity. It suggests that MAPK pathway may be involved in the transduction of icariin's impact on proliferation and mineralization of osteoblasts.

Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics and surgical risks for elderly patients with gastric cancer. Methods The clinical data from 607 patients, who received surgical therapy for gastric cancer between January 2006 and December 2009, were retrospectively analyzed.Among them, 267 patients were over 65 years of age, and the other 340 patients (≤65 years of age)were served as control. Complete surgical resection was done by doctors in same group. The preoperative complications such as cardiopulmonary disease and post-operative complications as well as pathologic patterns were compared between two groups. Results Coexisted diseases were found more in elderly patients than in controls (68.91% vs 31.63 %, P<0.01). Whereas there was no significant difference between two groups with respect to post-operative complication [28. 19% (75/267)vs 25.59 % (87/340)]. However, the incidence of cardiopulmonary complications, especially pulmonary infection, was higher in elderly patients than in controls (17.23% vs 5.29% ,P<0.01). The digestive tract complications were related to the pattern of radical operation. Post-operative complication occurred less in patients treated with D1 radical operation than those with D2 and D3 radical operation. Conclusions The incidence of post-operative complication in elderly patients with gastric cancer was closely related to the surgical method. The elderly patients may has less complications if they were operated with D1 radical method which can reduce risk of complication and improve the quality of life.

Objective To understand the changes of schistosomiasis epidemic situation,so as to provide the evidence for for?mulating schistosomiasis control strategy in the Hexi reservoir area. Methods From 2012 to 2015,Xinyuan Village,Meishan Town in the north entrance of Hexi reservoir was selected as a monitoring site. According to the requirements of the monitoring program of schistosomiasis surveillance in Zhejiang Province, the Schistosoma japonicum infection was investigated by using the serological screening(IHA),and the basic situation of the surveillance site was also investigated. Results From 2012 to 2015,167 environments(21.68 hm2)were surveyed, and 2 slices(0.1 hm2)were found with Oncomelania hupensis snails. The detection rate of frames with snails was 0.12%,and the living snail density was 0.0192 snails per 0.1 m2. Totally 374 snails were dissected and no schistosome infected snails were found. A total of 970 local residents and 8 748 mobile people were investigated with the serological tests, and no schistosome infected people were found. In addition,3 085 cattle were investigated and no in?fected ones were found. Conclusion The schistosomiasis epidemic situation is stable in the Hexi reservoir area, but we still should strengthen the monitoring of imported source of infection and snail status, and increase the efforts of environmental trans?formation.
