1.Relationship between macrophage polarization and age-related macular degeneration
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2016;34(1):89-91
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes to blindness worldwide in elderly population.Innate immune system elements, such as macrophages and cytokines, play an important role in AM D pathology and pathogenesis. In AMD,macrophages can be functionally polarized into M1 (classically activated) and M2 (alternatively activated), as well as regulatory cells, in response to systems biology approaches.Imbalances in the M1 and M2 populations together with activation of retinal microglia are observed and potentially contribute to tissue degeneration. In this review, the phenomenon of macrophage polarization in AMD study was summarized, and the relationship between macrophage polarization and dry AMD,wet AMD,AMD related risk factors were discussed.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyelo-ureterolithotomy. Methods Totally 52 cases of unilateral urinary calculi were treated with retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyelo-ureterolithotomy in our hospital. All the patients received placement of ureteral stent during the operation. Results All the operations were completed successfully without conversion to open surgery. The time of the operation varied from 50 to 200 minutes with a mean of 110 minutes. The patients were discharged from hospital in 5 to 14 days (mean,7.5 days). Eight weeks after the operation, the stent was withdrawn from the patients. Follow-up was achieved in all of the patients for six months. Ultrasonography showed that the hydronephrosis disappeared in 21 cases at 3 months, and in 32 patients at 6 months. None of the cases had recurrence. ECT showed an increased GFR in eight patients with severe hydronephrosis (increased from a mean of 16 ml/min before the operation to 25 ml/min). Conclusions Retroperitoneal laparoscopic pyelo-ureterolithotomy is effective, safe, and less invasive for the calculi in the renal pelvic and upper ureter.

Objective To evaluate the indications, effectiveness and complications of vitreoretinal surgery using the 25G transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy system (TSV25G) under the topical anesthesia. Methods The clinical and follow-up data of 22 eyes of 22 patients undergone vitreo-retinal surgery using TSV25G under the topical anesthesia were retrospectively analyzed. All of the patients were monocular sickened, including idiopathic macular hole in 10 eyes, idiopathic macular pucker in 6, vitreoretinal traction syndrome in 4, and vitreous hemorrhage associated with branch retinal vein occlusion in 2. Peeling of epiretinal membrane and/or internal limiting membrane, intraocular laser coagulation, air-fluid exchange and tamponiding of C 3F 8 were performed according to the condition of diseases. The postoperative follow-up was 1-11 months, with the mean duration of 6.4 months. The effect of analgesia, cooperation with the patients, operative effect and complications in and after the surgery were observed. Results The operations finished successfully in all of the eyes under the topical anesthesia. The operation duration ranged from 20 to 25 minutes with average of 22 minutes. The patients cooperated with the doctor well without any discomfort. Two days after the surgery, edema of the wounded conjunctiva was found, and recovered 7 days later. A light pigment dot on the surface of the sclera could be seen at the first month. The complications included transient increasing of intraocular pressure in 2 eyes, feather-like opacity of lens in 5 eyes, vitreous hemorrhage in 1 eye, and air-bleb under conjunctiva in 2 eyes. No other complications related with the cut were found. The macular hole closed in 9 eyes with idiopathic macular hole, and the other 1 had the smaller but not closed hole. Idiopathic macular pucker, vitreoretinal traction syndrome, and vitreous hemorrhage associated with branch retinal vein occlusion were cured successfully. Conclusions Vitreoretinal surgery using the TSV25G under the topical anesthesia has many advantages such as simple procedure, short operation time, micro-invasion, less complications and rapid revovery, and mainly serves simple manipulation in some simple diseases such as idiopathic macular hole, vitreo-retinal traction syndrome, and simple hemorrhage.

Neferine, an alkaloid, isolated form Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn, has antiarrhytbmic effect. The present report deals with its action on the ECG in rat & the surface potential of toad sciatic nerve.Neferine could prolong ECG, P-R & Q-T intervals, and widen QRS in a dose-dependent manner, The effects are similar to quini-dine, and dissimilar to tetrandrine. The inhibitory effects of neferine & quinidine on the surface potential of toad sciatic nerve are similar in potency.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1987;0(03):-
Surazepam ( Sur ) is a benzodiazepine derivative. Sur ( 0.2~0.27m-mol/L ) inhibited the contraction of isolated cervices uteri of rats and human beings induced by oxytocin and Ca2+ after high K+ concentration depolarization Sur ( 3.5~ 4 mg/kg ) iv could also inhibit the spontaneous contraction of uterus of rabbit in situ. The cumulative dose-response curves for Sur and CaCl2 exhibited non-competition.Both Sur and nifedipine markedly inhibited extracellular and intra-cellular Ca2+ dependent contraction induced by oxytocin.

Objective To explore the distribution and migration of oval cells in progressive hepatic injury. Methods Sixty SD rats were divided into the control group ( n =20) and experimental group ( n =40). After the establishment of hepatic carcinoma models, C kit was continuously detected by immunohistochemistry and the liver pathologic changes were regularly observed by optical microscopy. Results The hepatic surface was smooth with eumorphism in histology in the control group. The C kit positive cells were occasionally found. In the experimental group, the oval cells with C kit positive were initially discovered in the portal regions in the second week, and these cells proliferated along the bile duct epithelia. With the hepatic injury becoming more serious, the oval cells extended into the hepatic lobular regions from the portal regions. When hepatocellular carcinoma occurred, the majority were mixed carcinomas, and the oval cells were found inside and outside the carcinoma nodes. In this period, the most of C kit positive cells still located in the portal regions. Conclusion ①The oval cells are the most sensitive cells for the hepatic injury. ②The oval cells which migrate unruly participate in the formation of hepatic pseudolobules. ③The oval cells play an important role in hepatocarcinogenesis.

OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for clinical prevention and treatment of ceftizoxime-induced hemolytic anemia by investigating the situation of ceftizoxime-induced hemolytic anemia. METHODS:Using Chinese and English“ceftizoxime”“he-molysis”and other words as key words, related literatures during 1986-2015 were retrieved from CNKI,Wanfang database and PubMed database. Those literatures were analyzed statistically in respects of general information, clinical drug use and manifesta-tion,occurrence time and outcome, etc. The mechanisms of hemolytic anemia were analyzed to put forward prevention and treat-ment measures. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS:A total of 11 literatures were retrieved, including 4 foreign literatures and 7 domes-tic ones. There were 15 cases in total, including 5 foreign cases and 10 domestic cases. According to the patient’s age, there were 7 cases of infants,4 cases of the elderly,3 cases of middle-aged people and 1 case of youth. The hemolytic anemia often occurred on the 2-7 day(8 cases). Most of the patients were improved after treatment, but there were 3 patients who died. The mechanism of hemolytic anemia mainly included the production of immune complex and non-immunologic protein adsorption. It is suggested to investigate allergic reaction history, pay attention to sensitization test on skin, select suitable drug dosage and avoid drug combina-tion. The patient’s medications should be monitored closely. Once hemolytic anemia occurs,it should be immediately stop using the drug and take appropriate measures as hormone treatment, comprehensive treatment, blood transfusion treatment,to avoid en-dangering the life safety of patients.
