1.Behavioral Effect on Workers in Public Places of Different Environmental Quality
Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(05):-
In this paper, the behavioral effects on workers in public places of different environmental quality were studied-172 workers of three public places were selected, and the values of environmental quality were determined 1.226,0.948 and 0.876.The results showed that statistically significant differences were found in average reaction time and the fastest reaction time among the three groups, environmental quality being one of risk factors, and that most scores of tests in three groups corresponded to the values of environmental quality and a significant correlation existed between some scores and the values of environmental quality

This study examined the postoperative plasma endotoxin level, plasma endotoxin inactivation capacity and clinical outcome after administration of an enteral diet supplemented with glutamine, arginine and ω-3-fatty acid in patients undergoing gastrointestinal operations on an prospective, randomized and double-blind design. 40 patients undergoing gastrointestinal operations were randomized into two groups, with each having 20 patients. One group received standard enteral nutrition and the other was fed the formulation supplemented with glutamine, arginine and ω-3-fatty acid. The two groups were isonitrogenous. The infusion was started from day 1 after surgery and continued for 7 days. Blood samples were collected on the morning of day 1 before operation and on the morning of 1, 4 and 7 day(s) after operation and analyzed for plasma endotoxin level and endotoxin inactivation capacity (EIC). Our study found no differences between the two groups on plasma endotoxin level. After surgery a rapid reduction in plasma endotoxin inactivation capacity was observed in both groups, a significant recovery of the plasma endotoxin inactivation capacity was observed on morning of day 4 after surgery in the study group (0.12±0.02 EU/mL and 0. 078±0.022 EU/mL respectively, P<0.01). Shortened hospital stay was observed in the experimental group (11.7±2.0 days in the control group and 10.6±1.2 days in the experimental group respectively, P=0.03). It is concluded that perioperative parenteral nutrition supplemented with glutamine, arginine and ω-3-fatty acid ameliorated postoperative immunodepression but without direct effect on endotoxemia.

Objective To analyze the effect of baseline cytokines in aqueous humor in predicting the improvement of the central macular thickness(CMT)and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)of patients with macular edema secondary to retinal vein obstruction(RVO-ME)after anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)treatment for 3 months.Meth-ods Totally 30 eyes of 30 patients initially diagnosed with RVO-ME in the Affiliated Eye Hospital of Nanjing Medical Uni-versity from October 2021 to January 2023 were enrolled.Aqueous humor was collected by anterior chamber puncture be-fore the anti-VEGF drug injection. The levels of 11 cytokines in aqueous humor, including VEGF,intercellular adhesion molecule(ICAM)-1,interleukins(ILs)and interferon-γ(IFN-γ),were measured by Luminex xMAP technology. The cor-relation between baseline aqueous humor cytokine levels and CMT,BCVA(logMAR)as well as their changes(difference between baseline and anti-VEGF treatment for 3 months)in RVO-ME patients was analyzed;the correlation between CMT and BCVA(logMAR)was analyzed at baseline and 3 months after anti-VEGF treatment.CMT and BCVA responders were defined as patients with 50%or more reduction in CMT and BCVA(logMAR)from baseline to the third month.A Logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between baseline aqueous humor cytokines and RVO-ME patients be-coming CMT or BCVA responders after 3 months of anti-VEGF treatment. Results Compared with baseline, the CMT sig-nificantly decreased and BCVA significantly improved in RVO-ME patients after anti-VEGF treatment for 3 months(both P<0.001).The CMT was positively correlated with BCVA(logMAR)of RVO-ME patients at baseline and after anti-VEGF treatment for 3 months(P=0.026,0.002).At baseline, the levels of VEGF and IL-8 of RVO-ME patients were positively correlated with CMT(P=0.032,0.035);the levels of IL-6 and IL-8 were positively correlated with BCVA(logMAR)(P=0.018,0.002).The baseline IL-8 level in RVO-ME patients was negatively associated with the change in CMT(P=0.024).Logistic regression analysis showed that elevated baseline ICAM-1 level could increase the risk of RVO-ME patients becom-ing BCVA non-responders after 3 months of anti-VEGF treatment(P=0.023).Conclusion Baseline IL-8 and ICAM-1 may be predictors of CMT and BCVA improvement after anti-VEGF treatment of RVO-ME.

Objective:To study the influence of electromyographic biofeedback therapy(EMGBFT)combined with mirror therapy(MT)on lower limb motor and balance function in stroke patients. Method:Sixty patients with hemiplegia after stroke were randomly divided into two groups:MT based EMG-BFT group and EMGBFT group,30 patients in each group. On the basis of conventional rehabilitation, the patients in the EMGBFT group received sham MT stimulation combined with EMGBFT,and the patients in the MT based EMGBFT group received MT combined with EMGBFT.Before and after treatment, the lower limb motor function of the patients was evaluated using Fugl-Meyer assessment scale-lower extremity(FMA-LE)and surface electromyography-integrated electromyography(iEMG)of knee flexion and ankle dorsiflex-ion,co-contraction ratio(CR).Plantar pressure-symmetry index(SI)of mean pressure and contact area of both feet, elliptical area of body center of gravity, anteroposterior(AP)and mediolateral(ML)displacement distance of body center of gravity under eye-opening and eye-closed states were calculated to evaluate pa-tients'weight-bearing and balance function. Result:After treatment,FMA-LE,CR and iEMG of biceps femoris and rectus femoris under knee flexion, tibialis anterior and medial gastrocnemius under ankle dorsiflexion were markedly ameliorated in the two groups(P<0.01).After treatment,in the eye-opening state, the SI of mean pressure and contact area of both feet, elliptical area of body center of gravity,AP and ML displacement distances of body center of gravity were greatly enhanced in the two groups(P<0.05,P<0.01),in the eye-closed state, the SI of mean pressure and contact area of both feet,ML displacement distances of body center of gravity were observably ameliorat-ed in the two groups(P<0.05,P<0.01).Compared with the EMGBFT group, the FMA-LE,iEMG of biceps femoris and tibialis anterior muscles, elliptical area of body center of gravity,AP and ML displacement dis-tance of body center of gravity with eyes open,SI of contact area of both feet with eyes closed had more significant changes in the MT based EMGBFT group after treatment(P<0.05,P<0.01). Conclusion:Electromyographic biofeedback therapy combined with mirror therapy can improve lower limb motor and balance function in stroke patients, the underlying mechanism of which may be the activation of lower limb weak muscle motor units, the relief of lower limb spasm, and the improvement of standing static balance ability.
