This study is to investigate the influence and mechanism of action of asymmetrical dimethylarginine (ADMA) and the induced oxidative stress level on Alzheimer's disease (AD) incidence. ADMA concentration, nitric oxide, Abeta(40)/Abeta(42) ratio, inducible NO synthase (iNOS) activity and the concentrations of the induced free radicals including malondialdehyde (MDA), 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) and peroxynitrite (ONOO-) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from 34 neurologically normal controls and 37 AD patients were quantitatively determined and statistically compared. The results showed that the ADMA concentration significantly decreased in AD patients, and it showed negative correlation with the NO, iNOS activity, and showed positive correlation with MMSE score. ADMA concentration was negatively correlated with Abeta(40)/Abeta(42) ratio (P<0.01) with the observation that Abeta(40)/Abeta(42) ratio increased while ADMA level decreased in CSF in AD patients. The concentration levels of MDA, 3-NT and ROS significantly increased compared with the control with all the P values less than 0.05. These findings suggested that the ADMA disorder and the oxidative damage effect of the induced free radicals in CSF of AD patients are an important mechanism of AD incidence, and their joint regulation may provide new idea for the prevention and clinical treatment of AD.

The nuclear transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular redox homeostasis. The aberrant NRF2 signaling confers enhanced antioxidant capacity, which is linked to tumor progression and therapeutic resistance. The current study investigates the biological effects and molecular mechanism of tribbles homolog 3 (TRIB3), a stress-induced protein, in regulating cell survival and apoptosis in lung cancer. This study first performed the RNA sequencing data analysis with 576 lung adenocarcinoma patients from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) database. The NRF2- antioxidant response element (ARE) signature was enriched in patients with high TRIB3 expression. Dual-luciferase reporter assay and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were used to confirm the effect of TRIB3 on the kelch-like ECH-associated protein-1 (KEAP1)-NRF2 pathway. Objective To analyze the correlations of vascular structure, hemodynamic changes and surgical recanalization of carotid endarterectomy ( CEA) for the treatment of subtotal or complete occlusion of carotid artery. Methods A total of 107 patients with carotid artery occlusive disease diagnosed at Beijing Xuanwu Hospital,Capital Medical University received CEA therapy from January 2005 to January 2014 and were enrolled retrospectively. According to the findings of introperative ultrasound, they were divided into either a recanalization group (n=86) or a non-recanalization group (n=21). Preoperative and intraoperative carotid artery diameter and blood flow velocity were compared and analyzed with carotid ultrasonography. Intraoperative detected vascular abnormalities, residual vascular stenosis rate, blood flow velocity and pulsatility index of the ipsilateral middle cerebral artery ( MCA) were documented. Results (1) The peak systolic velocity (PSV) (82 ± 32 cm/s and 60 ± 17 cm/s),mean velocity (MV) (50 ± 19 cm/s and 42 ±13cm/s),and pulsatility index (PI) (0. 97 ± 0. 25 and 0. 67 ± 0. 14) on the ipsilateral MCA in patients of carotid artery recanalization before and after procedure were significantly higher than those during the procedure. There were significant differences (all P=0. 000). In patients failed to recanalize, the intraoperative and preoperative PSV,EDV,and MV of MCA were 46 ± 20 cm/s and. 63 ± 21 cm/s,24 ± 13 cm/s and 34 ± 12 cm/s, and 32 ± 16 cm/s and 44 ± 15 cm/s,respectively. They were reduced more significantly during the procedure than those after procedure. There were significant differences ( all P=0. 000 ) . But there was no significant difference in PI (0. 70 ± 0. 18 and 0. 67 ± 0. 15) compared with that before procedure (P=0. 317). (2) The diseased vascular diameter of the recanalization group was significantly widened (0. 6 ± 0. 4 mm vs. 3. 4 ± 0. 9 mm,P=0. 000) compared with before procedure. The overall recanalization rate was 80. 4% (86/107). Intraoperative ultrasound revealed that 13 patients had mild abnormal vascular structures among the recanalized patients. The non-recanalized patients had significantly abnormal vascular structure. Conclusion Intraoperative carotid ultrasound in combination with transcranial Doppler (TCD) for monitoring cerebral blood flow may effectively identify the carotid structure and the degree of cerebral hemodynamic improvement, and timely guide the secondary repair.

Quinolones are broad-spectrum antibacterial agents used in human and veterinary medicine, and their extensive use have been associated with a rise of the quinolone resistance. In the present study, the quinolone resistance of avian E.coli and Salmonella isolates was evaluated and compared, in which 344 avian E.coli and 224 Salmonella isolates from 1990s were serogrouped with antisera and thc antimicrobial susceptibility test to 10 quinolones was carried out by using the Kirby-Bauer method recommended by Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). It was demonstrated that the 344 isolates of avian E.coli distributed in 27 serogroups and 68.90% (237/344) of the isolates belonged to four O-serogroups: i.e. O1, O2, O18, O78, and the 224 isolates of avian Salmonella were all determined to be Salmonella pullorum. The drug-resistance rate of avian E. coli isolates to nalicixic acid from 1993-1999 was more than 60%(64.43%,131/181), whereas those of isolates to 9 antibiotics from 2000-2008 had a drug-resistance rates of more than 60%, namely, nalicixic acid(92.02%), fleroxacin(79.75%), pipemidic acid(79.14%), enrofloxacin(78.53%), enoxacin(76.07%), lomenfloxacin(74.85%), ciprofloxacin(69.33%), norfloxacin(63.80%) and ofloxacin(61.35%). For the 4 O-serogroups of the avian E.coli isolates, the drug-resistance rates of more than 50% to antimicrobials were as follows: O78 isolates to 7 antimicrobials;O18 isolates to 5 antimicrobials, and O1 and O2 isolates just to 3 antimicrobials. The quinolone resistance of Salmonella isolates was much lower than E.coli, in which 101 salmonella isolates from 1993-1999 were all susceptible to quinolones. Nalicixic acid resistance of salmonella isolate firstly appeared in 2000, and the drug-resistance rate of salmonella isolates from 2000-2008 was found to be more than 60% for nalicixic acid(83.74%), but those to other quinolones were comparatively lower. These results indicated that the quinolone resistance of avian E.coli and salmonella were increasing in the past two decads because of the over-use of antibiotics.

BACKGROUND:In recent years, increasing research emphasizes the puncture position of the foramen ovale in skul , but most of the positin methods require a higher personal experience of surgeons and lack of individualized quantitative parameters. OBJECTIVE:To establish a visualized digital model of the foramen ovale in skul , explore the reasonable puncture path and puncture depth of percutaneous treatment of foramen ovale puncture for trigeminal neuralgia, and develop the individualized treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. METHODS:Head CT images from healthy adult male volunteers were obtained and were input into three-dimensional reconstruction software MIMICS 10.01, the three-dimensional visualized models of the skul and skin were established. Using the models, the puncture path of the foramen ovale was designed and the preliminary model of the puncture locator was plotted. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The three-dimensional visualized digital model of the foramen ovale puncture path was established with CT scan images by using MIMICS software, which provides reliable anatomical data for clinical teaching and lays the groundwork for the simulation of puncture surgery. On the three-dimensional models, the“needle points”,“target points”, and“midpoint”were determined, and the triangle consisted of the three points was regarded as“positioning plane”. Using these parameters, the positioning instrument is characterized by simple structure, convenient operation, high positioning precision and short period of exposure to radiation, it simulates the foramen ovale puncture needle depth and needle direction in a precise and individualized manner.
