Journal of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;(3):399-401
Objective To observe the influences of Siwu Decoction on perioperative hidden hemorrhage in senile patients with intertrochanteric fractures, and to supply evidence for Chinese medicine in treating the hidden hemorrhage of senile intertrochanteric fractures patients. Methods By following the inclusion and exclusion standard, 36 patients were admitted into the study. With reference to the medication of Chinese medicine, the patients were divided into treatment group and control group. All of the patients were given conventional anti-infection medicine, symptomatic treatment and dietary guidance. In addition, the treatment group took Siwu Decoction orally, 10 days constituting a period of treatment from the third day after surgery. Before and after treatment, we observed hemoglobin (Hb) level, hematocrit (Hct) and hidden blood loss (intraoperative and postoperative) . Results Hb level was increased and hidden blood loss was decreased in the treatment group ( P<0.05 compared with those before treatment) , but the changes were not obvious in the control group (P>0.05) . The improvement of Hb level and hidden blood loss in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.05) . Conclusion Siwu De-coction can increase Hb and Hct levels in senile patients with intertrochanteric fractures, which results into the im-provement of perioperative hidden blood hemorrhage to some extent.

Objective To study the effects of different nutritional support strategy on acute pancreatitis in rats induced by bile-pancreatic duct ligation. Methods Forty acute pancreatitic rats were divided into four groups and were given simple parenteral nutrition (PN, n=10), early enteral nutrition (EEN,n=10), mid term enteral nutrition(MEN, n=10), and late enteral nutrition (LEN, n=10) respectively. After seven-days of nutritional support, the weight changes and peritoneal dropsy were recorded, the zymologic index of serum biochemistry, pancreatic enzyme level, and malonaldehyde(MDA) concentration were detected, and the pancreatitic tissue were collected, stained with hematoxylin eosin, and histopathologically scored. Results Three rats died in EEN group, and one rat died in MEN group. The weight reduction and peritoneal dropsy in EEN and MEN groups were significantly larger compared with PN and LEN groups(P<0.05). The index of direct bilirubin in EEN rats was significantly higher than that in PN and LEN groups(P<0.05). The index of serum albumin of PN group was higher than those of the other three groups(P<0.05 ) ; the index of hemodiastase of PN group was lower than those of EEN and MEN groups(P<0.05 ) ; the index of hemolipase of PN group was lower than those of the other three groups(P< 0.05). The amount of pancreatic tissue amylase of PN and LEN groups was lower than those of EEN and MEN groups(P<0.05 ) ; the amount of pancreatic tissue lipase of EEN group was higher than those of PN and LEN groups (P<0.05). There was positive relationship between MDA concentration and histopathological score of pancreatic tissue(R=0.93, P<0.05) ; MDA concentration and histopathological score of EEN and MEN groups were significantly higher than those of PN and LEN groups (P<0.05).Conclusion Early enteral nutritional support exacerbates pathological changes of acute pancreatitic rats, which is unfavourable to the recovery of the pancreatitis.

Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at Shenting (DU24) and Baihui (DU20) on learning and memory ability,as well as the finding of histopathology and the expression of mRNA of nuclear factor κB p65 (NF-κB-p65) and its inhibitor (IκB) in the hippocampus of rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Methods 45 male Sprague-Dawley rats were were randomly diveded into sham control group (SC, n=15), ischemia control group (IC, n=15) and electroacupuncture group (EA, n=15). The latter 2 groups were modeled as focal cerebral I/R injury, and the EA group received electroacupuncture at Shenting (DU24) and Baihui (DU20) for 14 d. They were evaluated with the step down test, their hippocampus was observed under HE staining and the level of NF-κB-p65 and IκB mRNA was determined with RT-PCR 14 d after modeling. Results The frequence of shock was less, and the latency jumping down from the safe platform was longer in the EA group than in the IC group (P<0.001). The damage of the nerve cell and the expression of NF-κB-p65 mRNA significantly decreased and the expression of IκB mRNA increased in the EA group compared with those of IC group (P<0.001). Conclusion The inhibition of NF-kB-p65 might mediate the recovery of learning and memory impairment after electroacupuncture for cerebral ischemia.

Transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β), a member of the TGF-β superfamily, plays a role in multiple biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and tissue fibrosis, etc. Normally, TGF-βs widely express in normal tissues and most cell lines, such as macrophages and dendritic cells, But in pathological conditions, Cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts also produce and secrete TGF-β. Scirrhous gastric cancer (SGC) is a special subtype of gastric cancer with rapid development, frequent peritoneal implantation, and accompanied by significant interstitial fibrosis deposition. these biological behavior characteristics all suggest that its occurrence and development are closely related to TGF-β expression, and TGF-β is considered to be associated with poor prognosis of the SGC. The use of antibodies and inhibitors of TGF-β and its signaling pathways can reduce the invasiveness of cancer cells and improve the prognosis of SGC patients. This paper reviews the expression and significance of TGF-β in SGC.

Journal of Clinical Neurology 1992;0(01):-
Objective To evaluate the effect of surgical treatment in ischemic cerebrovascular disease using perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (PWI) technique. Methods The clinical and imaging data of 24 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease were analyzed retrospectively. Cerebral perfusion was compared before and after operation by PWI.Results In our series, there were 9 cases of stenosis or occlusion of unilateral internal carotid artery (ICA), 8 cases of unilateral stenosis or occlusion of middle cerebral artery (MCA), 5 cases of multiple stenoses of intra- or extracranial artery system, 2 cases of moyamoya disease. PWI revealed 1 case of normal regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and mean transit time (MTT), 15cases of normal rCBF with increased MTT, and 8 cases of decreased rCBF with increased MTT. 23 patients received surgical treatment. There were 13 patients performed by stent angioplasty, 4 patients by endarterectomy, and 6 patients by STA-MCA bypass surgery. Cerebral perfusion improved in 19 cases (82.6%), which included 12 cases (92.3%) performed with stent angioplasty, 4 cases (100%) with endarterectomy and 3 cases (50%) with STA-MCA bypass surgery. Conclusions Being a new type of examination, PWI is helpful to evaluate the status of cerebral perfusion. Surgical methods are effective in treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
