Effects of Lycium barbarian polysaccharide (LBP), Astragalus polysaccharide (APS), polysaccharide of Acanthopanax senticosus (PAS) and polysaccharide of lipopolysaccharide (PS) on cytotoxicities of LAK cells from splenocytes of C57BL/6 mices were observed with 18 h 125IUdR release assay. Our study demonstrated that the polysaccharides alone were shown to induce no cytotoxicities. When combined with rIL-2, all of 4 kinds of the polysaccharides augrnented LAK activities in dose-dependent manner. The augmentations reached the maximum at 0.01-0.1 mg ? ml-1 LBP, 0.01 mg ? ml-1 APS and PAS, 0.01 mg ? ml-1 PS. They were found to increase LAK activities in short range of rIL-2 concentrations (250-1000U? ml-1). If the polysaccharides were used beyond the suitable concentrations, they were shown to inhibit LAK cell activities.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(5):364-5
OBJECTIVE: To study the anti-lipid peroxidation action of Rosa davurica Pall. fruit. METHODS: The contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) of the tissue homogenate of the liver, heart, kidney, brain and of the red blood cells induced by hydrogen peroxide in mice were measured. The contents of MDA and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) of ischemic myocardium of mice were measured. RESULTS: 0.2 g/L Rosa davurica Pall. fruit could decrease significantly the contents of MDA of the all tissue (P < 0.05). Inhibition rate of 6.7 g/L Rosa davurica Pall. fruit on MDA of the red blood cells induced by hydrogen peroxide was 89.2%. Administration of this extraction successively for six days (ig, 2.0 g x kg(-1) x d(-1)) can significantly reduce the content of MDA (P < 0.01) and augment the activities of SOD and GHS-Px (P < 0.05) in the ischemic myocardium of mice. CONCLUSION: Rosa davurica Pall. fruit can significantly prevent the lipid peroxidation.

This paper explored effect of AF internal fixation system in reduction of lumbar vertebral fracture.AF internal fixation system acts fixation and reduction roles for most of spinal blowout fracture through spinal hyperextension or devise opening to reduce fracture blocks in vertebral canal or anterior vertebrae. In addition,it alleviates neural compression to some extent. The collapsed vertebral reduction is achieved by traction of anterior and posterior longitudinal ligaments as well as intervertebral annulus fibrosus;the physiologic curvature and vertebral height are restored. Moreover, the spinal stability is maintained.Early functional exercise can promote fracture healing and reduce complications. In treatment of lumbar vertebral fracture by AF internal fixation system, screw entry, reduction, traction, and fusion are completed based on host biomechanics, and biocompatibility of implant and host should be paid more attention.

Objective To study the anti-ageing and antioxidation of polyphends of vitis amurensis Rupr(PVAR).Methods Forty senile male Wistar rats (20 months) were divided into 4 goups according rats′ weights:senile negtive control group(A), fed with basic forage;two senile PVAR groups(B and C),fed with basic forage inchuding 200 and 400 mg?kg~ -1 ?d~ -1 PVAR;senile positive control(D), fed with basic forage inchuding 200 mg?kg~ -1 ?d~ -1 melissic powder. After fed continuously for 8 weeks, the MDA contents in RBC-membrane, plasma and liver, sulfhydryl content in RBC-membrane, sialic acid content, activity of Na~+-K~+-ATPasc, fluidity of RBC-membrane,and activity of plasma GSH-Px in rats were detected. Results Compared with group A,the contents of MDA in groups B,C,and D decreased significantly(P

Objective To evaluate the health-related quality of life in convalescents of severe acute respiratory syndrome. Methods Health-related quality of life evaluated by SF-36 scale was performed on 68 SARS patients discharged from hospital in the first and sixth month during 2003-05~2003-12 in Department of Respiratory Medicine of Beijing Friendship Hospital. Results In the first month,SARS patients had a significant impairment in both physical and psychological functioning.Physical condition improved significantly six months later, but there was no obvious improvement in mental health. Conclusion Psychological treatment should be included. The SF-36 scale is a valid, sensitive and reliable tool for assessing the quality of life for SARS patients.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1985;0(06):-
Superoxide anion releasing from activated murine macrophages stimulated with recombinant human interferon-? (IFN-?), tumour necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) and bacterial lipopolysaccharidc were studied. The results showed that both of the cytokines enhanced superoxide anion release in a dose and time - dependent manner, but lipopolysaccharide had no such an effect as compared with IFN-? and TNF-?. It was also shown that O2- generation from macrophages was highly enhanced after primed with IFN-? or TNF-? for 24 hours. It was concluded from these data that cytokines released from macrophages and lymphocytes during inflammatory reactions could promote O2- generation which may play a crucial role in destruction or kill of intracellular pathogenic bacteria, and tumour cells.

Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) is widely used in the treatment of coronary heart disease because of its tiny trauma, short treatment, rapid effect. However,if the patients after PCI can not effectively control the risk factors, their quality of life will be affected. In this paper,we review the study of self efficacy and quality of life in patients after PCI in recent years, thus to lay the foundation for the subsequent clinical care.

OBJECTIVETo observe differences of immediate effect of twirling reinforcing-reducing manipulation at head acupoints on muscle force in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
METHODSA total of 126 patients who met the inclusive criteria were randomly divided into a twirling reinforcing group, a mild reinforcing-reducing group and a twirling reducing group, 42 cases in each one. The lines between Baihui (GV 20) and bilateral Taiyang (EX-HN 5) were selected and treated with successive insertion of three needles. The twirling reinforcing method was used in the twirling reinforcing group, and mild reinforcing-reducing method was used in the mild reinforcing- reducing group, and twirling reducing method was used in the twirling reducing group. Each needle was manipulated for 1 min, which was repeated once every 10 min. The needles were retained for 30 min. Muscle force was evaluated immediately after treatment.
RESULTS(1) Muscle force of upper limb: after acupuncture, the muscle force of proximal and remote ends were all improved significantly in three groups (all P < 0.05), which was more obvious in proximal end (all P < 0.05). The improvement of the muscle force of proximal end in the twirling reinforcing group was superior to those in the mild reinforcing-reducing group and twirling reducing group (both P < 0.05); the differences of the muscle force of remote end were not significant among three groups (all P > 0.05). (2) Muscle force of lower limb: after acupuncture, the muscle force of proximal and remote ends was all improved significantly in the three groups (all P < 0.05). The improvement of the muscle force of proximal end was superior to that of remote end in the twirling reinforcing group and mild reinforcing-reducing group (both P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe twirling reinforcing manipulation at head acupoints is superior to mild reinforcing-reducing and twirling reducing manipulation for muscle force in patients with acute ischemic stroke, which is more significant in proximal end of limbs.
