Tianjin Medical Journal 2015;(9):1003-1005,1094
Objective To evaluate the effects of unilateral extralevator abdominal-perineal excision (ELAPE) surgery and the ELAPE surgery on the pelvic floor detected by finite element analysis. Methods Three kinds of finite element mod?el were developed:the intact model, ELAPE model and the unilateral ELAPE model. The maximal stress and stress distribu?tions of each model under the same pressure were analyzed and compared. Results In the unilateral ELAPE model, non-le?vator ani tissue’s maximal stress on the levator ani reserved side was lower than that in ELAPE model, and was similar to that in the intact model. Its maximal stress on the excised side was lower than that in ELAPE model, and which was higher than that of intact model. Its maximal stress on the reserved side was lower than that of on the excised side. Conclusion Compared to the ELAPE surgery, the unilateral ELAPE surgery is able to reduce the stress of non-levator ani tissue on both sides, especially on the levator ani reserved side.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(11):-
AIM To study the effects of puerarin on the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax, genes relating to neuronal apoptosis after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. METHODS After global cerebral ischemia followed by reperfusion, changes in protein expression of Bcl-2 and Bax were detected by immunohistochemical method. The number of neuronal apoptosis was assessed by TUNEL. The effects of puerarin intervention were observed. RESULTS In CA1, the level of positive expression of Bcl-2 varied to the duration of reperfusion and the peak level was at 6 h reperfusion after 10 min global cerebral ischemia, the peak expression of Bax was at 24 h. The number of neuronal apoptosis after cerebral ischemia reperfusion was increased. In puerarin group, the expression of Bcl-2 was up-regulated and that of Bax was down-regulated, the number of neuronal apoptosis after cerebral ischemia reperfusion was decreased. CONCLUSION Our result indicate that Bcl-2 may restrain apoptosisl. Bax may promote apoptosis after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion and puerarin ameliorate ischemic damage by reducing the apoptosis through regulating Bcl-2 and Bax.

OBJECTIVE:
To detect the expressions of p-Stat3 and c-myc in human laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) tissue and Hep2 cell line, and to find the relationship between them.
METHOD:
Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of p-Stat3 and c-myc in 60 cases of LSCC and 30 cases of vocal cord polyp tissue. The protein levels of p-Stat3 and c-myc in Hep2 cell line was determined by immunocytochemistry. Western blotting was used to determine the protein levels of p-Stat3 and c-myc in Hep2 after treating with different concentrations of Stattic.
RESULT:
The positive rates of p-Stat3 and c-myc were 65% and 70% in the LSCC tissue, compared with that in the vocal cord polyp tissue, with significant difference (P < 0.05). The expression of p-Stat3 in LSCC tissue was associated with that of c-myc (r = 0.273, P < 0.05). The protein levels of p-Stat3 and c-myc were detected in the Hep2 cell line. Stattic inhibited Stat3 phosphorylation and c-myc in the Hep2 cell line in a concentration-dependent manner.
CONCLUSION
p-Stat and c-myc were up regulated in the tissue of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and the Hep2 cell line. Stattic inhibits the constitutively active p-Stat3 signaling pathway, and downregulats the expression of c-myc. The strong constitutive p-Stat3 signaling pathway in LSCC makes p-Stat3 a target for the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

AIM: To investigate the influence of television programs on children's mental growth so as to evaluate advantages and disadvantages on coordinative development of TV programs and child education.METHODS: A survey about the quality and audience rating of children's TV programs was carried out at the Developmental Psychology Institute of Beijing Normal University.RESULTS: The television programs have three main functions for children: education function (or learning function, orientation function), information function and entertainment function. Main purposes and effect for watching TV by children are: ①The major two are entertaining and getting information to enrich their knowledge, but other purposes like training thinking ability and learning skills still exist. ② Children TV programs can promote learning knowledge, skill, and academic study; develop intelligence and personality. Problems mentioned above have the age differences. However, the negative effect on child should not be neglected: ① A lot of unhealthy contents block children's healthy development. ②Watching TV for hours wastes a lot of valuable time that can be used for other important things like reading. This time-killing habit may harm children's profound thoughts and thinking ability.CONCLUSION: We should present new philosophy on children's TV programs producing. The producer should know well about children's needs and respect their requirements, including all kinds of rights and ideas, linking the entertainment function of these programs more closely with their education function and taking advantage of successful business models oversea, and inspiring organizations to produce more suitable programs.

BACKGROUND: Being a traditional Chinese herb, huangqi (astragalus membranaceus) resists free radical, enhances immunity, promotes microcirculation and protects vascular endothelial cell and nervous system; of which, the protection of huangqi (astragalus membranaceus) on nervous vessel is related to its regulation on local cerebral cortical blood flow rate. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of huangqi (astragalus membranaceus) on local cerebral cortical blood flow rate after traumatic injury. DESIGN: Randomized paired experiment.SETTING: Neurological Surgical Institute of Lanzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Traumatic Experimental Room of Neurological Surgical Institute of Lanzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA from February to May 2000, in which, 75 healthy male SD rats were employed and randomized into the control (5 rats), saline control (35 rats) and experimental group (35 rats). The latter two groups were subdivided into 7 time spots of 1, 3, 6, 8, 12, 24 and 48 hours after traumatic injury, 5 rats were involved in each spot.METHODS: In normal control, the model was not prepared and in the other two groups, the modified Feeney's method was used to establish craniocerebral traumatic model. In experimental group, right after injury, huangqi injection (5 g/kg) was applied abdominally and in saline control, physiological saline 0.5 mL was injected abdominally. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: It was to determine the blood flow rates in local cerebral cortex at corresponding time spots after traumatic injury. Fenestration was done in normal control for direct determination. RESULTS: By supplemented, 75 rats entered result analysis. Blood flow rates in local cerebral cortex: the rate in saline control 1 hour after trauma was lower than the control [(6.90±0.68), (7.94±0.65), P < 0.05], it was de creased to the minimum in 24 hours and began increasing in 48 hours [(5.86±0.61), (6.15±0.60)]; the rate in experimental group at every time spot was higher than saline control (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Huangqi (astragalus membranaceus) increases remark ably blood flow rate in local cerebral cortex, which is associated with its neurovascular protection.
