OBJECTIVE: To analyze the nutritional status and nosocomial infection of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients before and after the chemoradiotherapy treatment. METHOD: An analysis was made for the nutritional and nosocomial infection status of 82 cases before and after chemoradiotherapy treatment. RESULT: Statistically significant differences were revealed between indexes related with nutritional status such as body mass, hemoglobin, serum albumin before and after the treatment. Sixty-three patients occurred nosocomial infection. The infection rate was 76.83%. The main risk factor was oropharynx mucosal lesion and the rate is 92.68%. Isolates of 39 bacteria were found, of which Gram-negative organisms were 58.97%, Fungi were 30.77%, Gram-positive ones were 7.69%, Herpes zoster were 2.56%. CONCLUSION Chemoradiotherapy has negative influence on nutritional status of patients. Medical personnel should pay attention to patients' nutritional status and do a good job of nutritional status monitoring, nutrition support, dieting guidance, reducing side effects, in order to improve the patient's tolerability and quality of life. The nosocomial infection rate of Gram-negative bacteria of oropharyngeal mucosal is the highest in patients with advanced nasopharyngeal cancer during chemoradiotherapy. It is very important for us to prevent and control nosocomial infection.

Objective To study the antitumor activities and immunity regulation of Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection. Methods Inhibitory effects of Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection on cell proliferation was detected with MTT method. Then the inhibitive rate was calculated. The immunomdulatory effects of Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection were investigated. Results Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection inhibited the proliferation of A549, SGC-7901, HEP-G2, Helacells in the dose of 100～20 ?g/mL, and enhance the immunity regulation on S180 tumor transplanted in mice. Conclusion Hedyotis diffusa Willd injection has the antitumor activities and can enhance the immunity.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the curative effect and complications between plasma radiofrequency ablation to the anterior extremity of the inferior turbinate and the treatment to the total of the inferior turbinate for the treatment of hypertrophic inferior turbinate. METHOD: One hundred and fifty-three patients were randomly divided into two groups, and all of the patients had obviously nasal obstruction due to isolated inferior turbinate hypertrophy. In the experimental group, plasma radiofrequency ablation was only applied to the anterior extremity of the inferior turbinate, whereas the whole concha was ablated in the control group. Visual analogue scale (VAS) for nasal obstruction were obtained both before the treatment and 1 year after surgery, and during the follow-up period, their recovery of nasal mucosa and complications were evaluated. RESULT. VAS scores before and after treatment were statistically significant in both groups (P < 0.01), but decreased value of VAS scores between the two groups was insignificant (P > 0.05). Complications between the two groups were statistically significant (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION Compare to radiofrequency ablation to the total of the inferior turbinate, the application to the anterior extremity of the inferior turbinate could provide adequate curative effect. The treatment to the anterior extremity of the inferior turbinate is simpler, which induce less complications, and which is safer for there is less risk of damage of continuity of the nasal mucosa. So it has a higher clinical application value.

Objective To establish the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of serum alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) antibody and evaluate its role in its diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis( AIH ). Methods The reactivity between yeast ADH and human anti-ADH serum antibody was tested by Western blot analysis. ELISA was established using yeast ADH. The method was applied in serums of 67 AIH patients,94 primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC) patients, 199 chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, 132 chronic hepatitis(CHC) patients, 24 alcohol hepatitis disease(ALD) patients, 99 connective tissue disease(CTD) patients and 31 healthy individuals. The positive rate of ADH antibody in the patients and healthy individuals was measured. The χ2 test was used to compare the positive rates. Results The ELISA method for detecting human anti-ADH serum antibody was established successfully and the optimum reaction conditions were defined. Western blot showed that yeast ADH has cross reactivity with human anti-ADH antibody. The positive rate of anti-ADH antibody in the AIH group [59. 7% ,40/67 ] was higher than that in the normal control group(0,χ2 = 31. 271 ,P <0. 05), PBC group (6. 4% ,χ2 =54. 492,P <0. 05), CHB group( 14. 1% ,χ2 =54. 848,P <0. 05) ,CHC group(21.2% ,χ2 = 29.269,P<0.05), ALl) group ( 25. 0% ,χ2 =8.512,P <0.05)and CTD group ( 43. 4% ,χ2 =4.229, P <0. 05). Conclusions Compared with the PBC, CHB, CHC, ALD and CTD group, the anti-ADH antibody positive rate in the serums of AIH was significantly increased. The antibody may be helpful to the diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis.
