Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture for perimenopausal depression. Methods: Ninety cases were randomly allocated into treatment group (n=60) and control group (n=30) according to the visit sequence. Patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture, once daily, and 10 times constituted one treatment course. Patients in the control group took Premarin tablet and medroxyprogesterone acetate for 3 cycles of menses. Results: The total effective rate was 95.0% in the treatment group, and 87.7% in the control group (P<0.05). The HAMD scores were decreased in both groups, and it was lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture has good effects on perimenopausal depression.

BACKGROUND:The degradation of extracellular matrix, which is mediated by matrix metal oproteinases, plays a crucial role in the corneal neovascularization. Tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2, a new type serine proteinase inhibitor, can effectively inhibit the activity of matrix metal oproteinases.
OBJECTIVE:To elucidate the effect of tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 on the expressions of matrix metal oproteinases in keratocytes in vitro.
METHODS:Rabbit keratocytes were primarily cultured and subcultured in vitro. Plasmid vector pBos-Cite-neo/TFPI-2 was transfected into keratocytes with Lipofectamine 2000. The positive cells were selected using G418.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The results of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, western blot analysis and gelatinase zymography analysis showed that, expression of mRNA and protein of tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 was upregulated in the transfected keratocytes (P<0.05), while activity of matrix metal oproteinase 1 and 2 was significantly decreased (P<0.05). Experimental findings indicate that that tissue factor pathway inhibitor 2 strongly inhibits the activity of matrix metal oproteinase 1 and 2 in keratocytes.

Purpose: This study is to investigate the influence of acupuncture at acupoints Neiguan (PC 6) and Ximen (PC 4) on the stroke volume and the flow rate of peak value of left ventricle ejection in the patients with coronary heart disease. Methods: 60 cases of coronary heart disease were divided into acupoint Neiguan (PC 6) group and acupoint Ximen (PC 4) group, and the stroke volume and the flow rate of peak value of left ventricle ejection were detected 3 min after manipulating needles and 20 min after retaining needles respectively, then were compared with those before acupuncture. Results: 3 min after manipulating needles, the stroke volume and the flow rate of peak value of left ventricle ejection were enhanced in 46 cases, and 20 min after retaining needles, both the stroke volume and the flow rate of peak value of left ventricle ejection were all enhanced in 34 cases. Conclusion: Puncturing acupoints Neiguan (PC 6) and Ximen (PC 4) could enhance the contractility of left ventricle wall, increase the stroke volume of the heart and improve the myocardial ischemia in the patients with coronary heart disease

ObjectiveTo test the the association between PRODH gene variant rs385440 and the susceptibility to schizophrenia and the severity of schizophrenia in Guangxi Zhuang and Han population, further exploring the genetic mechanisms of schizophrenia in Guangxi Zhuang and Han population.MethodsThe schizophrenia patients were diagnosed according to ICD-10 criteria in this study. The subjects in the association analysis were 282 unrelated schizophrenia patients(94 Zhuang and 188 Han) and 282 healthy controls (94 Zhuang and 188 Han).A quantitative real-time PCR TaqMan MGB experimental method was carried out to analysis rs385440.The clinical psychotic symptoms of 246 schizophrenia patients (83 Zhuang and 163 Han) were assessed by PANSS.Statistical analyses were carried out with SPSS13.0 for windows.ResultsThere was no statistically significant difference in different allele and genotype frequencies of rs385440 between schizophrenia cases and controls in Zhuang samples,Han samples and combined samples respectively (P> 0.05 ).In Zhuang schizophrenia patients the score of N4 (passive/apathetic social withdrawal) item in A allele carriers (3.28 ± 1.34) was higher than that of G allele carriers ( 2.40 ± 1.36 ) significantly (P < 0.05 ),and the score of G12 ( lack of judgment and insight) item in A allele carriers(4.92 ± 1.55 ) was higher than that of G allele carriers ( 4.12 ± 1.85 ) significantly (P < 0.05 ).Conclusion There is no association between PRODH gene variant rs385440 and the susceptibility to schizophrenia in Guangxi Zhuang and Han population.Rs385440 associated the severity of passive/apathetic social withdrawal symptom and poor attention symptom of schizophrenia in Zhuang.

Objective Observe the effect and the indications of intermittent short veno-venuous hemofiltration(ISVVH) in severe acute pancreatitis(SAP). Methods APACHE II scores≥14 and fluids imbalance were respectively used to define as the indication of starting hemofiltration and ending hemofiltration. In 39 patients with SAP,19 underwent ISVVH(IS group),and the other 20 patients were not accepted hemofiltration (N group). APACHE II scores, Balthazar CT grades and the plasma levels of procalitonin(PCT), TNF-?, IL-6, IL-8, IL-1ra, IL-2 and IL-10 were observed. Results At admission and 2d after admission, APACHE II scores in IS group and N group were (13.8?3.1)and (17.8?3.2) ( P

Objective To study the effect of single short (SS) veno-venous hemofiltration and intermittent short (IS) veno-venous hemofiltration on imbalance of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) patients. Methods There were 17 and 21 SAP patients indicated for hemofiltration respectively enrolled for (SS) veno-venous hemofiltration (SS group) and IS veno-venous hemofiltration (IS group).Twenty SAP patients admitted and indicated for hemofiltration but not receiving the management during the same period served as control. Plasma levels of TNF-?,IL-6,IL-8,and IL-10 were measured. APACHE Ⅱ scores and fluid balance were used to evaluate patients′ condition. Results APACHE Ⅱ scores in both SS and IS groups declined significantly at day one after admission(P

Objective To evaluate the use of stapling anterior resection for rectal cancer. Methods Data of 1036 patients undergoing anterior resection for rectal cancer during 1983 to 2000 were reviewed retrospectively. Clinical results were compared statistically between patients who received stapling anastomosis (group A, n=652) and those did not (group B, n=384). Results The annual average stapler anterior resection increased from 5 cases per year (during 1983-1987) to 147 cases per year (1998-2000). The 0? Ⅰ? Ⅱ stage patients accounted for 53% in group A, and 62% in group B (P=0.004). There was higher percentage of patients in group A (66%) than in group B (39%) in which the distance from the lower edge of the tumor to anal verge was less than 8 cm (P
