1.Neurogenesis in the brain
Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University(Medical Sciences) 2010;31(2):131-137,142
Neurogenesis is sustained throughout adulthood in the mammalian brain due to the proliferation and differentiation of adult neural progenitor cells found in the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricles and subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus. This review covers recent findings that elucidate different aspects of regulation of neurogenesis, including proliferation, migration and differentiation into mature neurons and functional integration into the existing neural circuits. Furthermore, this review also discusses the effects of pathological conditions on adult neurogenesis in both rodent models and human patients as well as some of the potential problems or limitations in neurogenesis research, which may shed some light on developing novel research strategies for replacement treatment of neurological disorders.

Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(07):-
The basic nursing quality is an important dial of the general administration level and the basic personnel quality of a hospital. Many causes have led to the down trend of the basic nursing quali- ty.After a specific analysis of the causes of such a trend, important measures and solutions have been put forth,The first is to strengthen the moral education of the profession and upgrade the quality of the nursing staff. The second is to adopt the "group responsibility" administration and gradually carry out a systimatic integrated nursing so that a transformation of nursing models is put to practice,The third is to broaden the outlet of human resources so that personnel are rationally employed and the rate of job— taking raised. The last one is to heighten the initiative of the nursing staff through the rational opera- tion of the "incentive"mechanism in accordance with the law of values.

Journal of Environment and Health 1989;0(06):-
Objective To determine species, counts, and seasonal variation of airborne pollen in the center of Nanchang. Methods Pollen counts were done with Durham gravity method on the top of the building in the campus of Jiangxi Medical College, Nanchang, April 1, 2000-March 31,2002. Results There were airborne pollens in all seasons of the year in atmosphere of Nanchang, which included about 47 species. The highest airborne presence (percent of total yearly pollen counts) was for Ambrosia(35.73%); followed by Pinaceae (15.94%), Artemisia (11.94%), Gramineae (5.88%), Cupressaceae (5.64%), Cunningha-mia R.Br.(5.12%), Chenopodium-Amaranthus (5.03%) , and Humulus(2.02%). The dispelling period showed a double curve: the first peak occured in Mar. and Apr. (22.56% and 11.98% respectively). The predominant pollens were tree pollen (Pinaceae, Cupressaceae, Cunninghamia R.Br., Moraceae and Salix). The second peak occured in Aug., Sep., and Oct. (9.61%, 23.77%, 19.57% respectively). The predominant pollens were grass pollen (Ambrosia, Artemisia, Gramineae, Chenopodium-Amaranthus and Humulus). Gramineae had been scattering all seasons, but it's counts were not high in every month. Conclusion There are airborne pollens dispelling in atmosphere of Nanchang in the whole year, whose dispelling period shows a double curve (the first peak occurs in Mar. and Apr. And second peak occurs in Aug. Sep. and Oct.) and the predominant pollens are Ambrosia, Pinaceae, Artemisia, Gramineae, Cupressaceae, Cunninghamia R.Br., Chenopodium-Amaranthus and Humulus. This study provides useful scientific information for production of specific allergen and for clinical prevention, specific diagnosis, specific therapy of allergic deseases.

Objective To study the primary volume of bone cement and the method of perfusion and the clinical effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty for bone metastatic tumors. Methods Percutaneous vertebroplasty was performed in 218 vertebral bodies of total 150 patients, including 92 males and 58 females with age of 26-85,averaging 56.8 y. 218 vertebral bodies included 73 dorsal vertebra and 138 lumber vertebra and 7 sacral vertebra. Operations were taken under the DSA monitoring. The approach route was selected according to the morphology of the vertebrae, damage extent and puncture site. Results Operation was successful in all 218 vertebrae of total 150 patients with a ratio of 100%. The primary volume of bone cement needed to fill dorsal vertebra was 2-5 ml,average 3.5 ml; that for lumber vertebra was 3-8 ml,average 5.5 ml; and that for sacral vertebra was 4-7,average 5.5 ml. 134 patients showed total pain relief (89.3%); 15 patients had partial remission (10%) and 1 failure (0.7%). The cement extravasated to intervertebral disk in 12 patients,to scleromeninx capsula externa in 10,to para-vertebra plexus venosus in 3 and to paravertebra soft tissue in 4. The incidence of leakage of bone cement was 13.3%,but no complications occurred during and after the operation. Concolusion Percutaneous vertebroplasty provides obvious pain relief effect for vertebral metastasis, worthy to be recommended widely in clinical application.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of osthole on focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. Methods Focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model in rat was made by transient occlusion of the middle cerebral artery for 2 h and followed by reperfusion for 24 h.Osthole 5 and 10 mg/kg were iv injected through sublingual vein at 1 h after the onset of ischemia, respectively. After 24 h of reperfusion, the influence of osthole on neurological behaviour deficit score, brain edema, and infarct size were evaluated. The activity of Na+,K+-ATPase,Ca2+-ATPase,and myeloperoxidase(MPO)in the ischemic hemisphere cortex of the middle cerebral artery area was assayed by spectrophotometry. The level of IL-8 was detected with radioimmunoassay. Results Osthole significantly reduced the neurological behaviour deficit score, brain edema, and infarct size, enhanced the activity of Na+,K+-ATPase and Ca2+-ATPase,inhibited the activity of MPO,and decreased the level of IL-8 in the brain tissue.ConclusionThe results suggest that osthole could attenuate the brain damage following focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in rats and its mechanism may be partly related to the inhibition of inflammation and brain edema induced by ischemia-reperfusion.

Journal of International Oncology 2013;(4):259-263
Piplartine is an alkaloids/amide component of Piper species, having diverse pharmacological and biological activities.Recent studies have indicated that piplartine has inhibitory effects on several kinds of tumors and is a kind of potential antitumor drugs. It can inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells, cause cell cycle arrest and induce apoptosis.More investigations suggest that targeting the reactive oxygen species(ROS) stressresponse pathway is closely related to its antitumor activity.

Chinese Journal of Digestion 2011;31(2):117-120
Objective To quantitatively detect the circulating DNA in plasma of patients with acute pancreatitis and to evaluate its potential clinical values. Methods Blood samples collected from 40 patients with mild acute pancreatitis (MAP), 20 with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) and 50healthy controls were extracted for DNA using genomic DNA extraction kit. The DNA level was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR assay. The clinical association of DNA level with acute pancreatitis was analyzed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was set up. Results The median concentration of plasma DNA in SAP group was 24.84 ng/ml, which was significantly higher than that in MAP group (7.60 ng/ml, P=0.006) and the healthy controls (5.23 ng/ml, P=0.000). The median concentration of plasma DNA in patients with acute pancreatitis was higher than in healthy controls (P=0.006), however, there was no significant difference between MAP group and healthy controls (P=0.322).The area under the ROC curve performed by the plasma DNA from SAP and MAP groups was 0. 881(95% CI, 0.773-0.989). With a cutoff value of 11.20 ng/ml, the overall sensitivity was 19/20% and specificity was 72.5%. Plasma DNA level was found to be associated with APACHE-Ⅱ score (P=0.001), Ranson score (P=0. 013), serum Ca2+ level (P=0.000), and c-reactive protein levels (P=0.001). Conclusions Plasma DNA is correlated with the extent of pancreatitis. It can be used in monitoring the development of acute pancreatitis and may be a potential marker for early diagnosis of SAP.
