Objective To evaluate the influence of inappropriate position deviation on radioactive iodine uptake (RAIU),effective half-life (Teff) and the corresponding dose variances in patients suffering from Graves hyperthyroidism. Methods RAIU was examined in 20 patients with Graves hyperthyroidism (7 males,13 females, average age (46.60 ±9.55) years) 2,4,6,and 24 h after intake of the radioiodine capsule.A scintillation probe was positioned at the center of the inferior edge of the thyroid cartilage 25 cm away for 2 min, which was defined as the standard manipulation (test 1).Then,the probe was moved either 5 cm backward (test 2) or 5 cm higher (test 3) compared with test 1.Variants of RAIU,Teff as well as dose calculations were acquired by different combinations (CⅠ-Ⅸ) of 4 h and 24 h-RAIU,according to the above 3 manipulations (C Ⅰ-Ⅲ:test 1 for RAIU4 h,test 1,2,3 for RAIU24 h respectively ; C Ⅳ-Ⅵ:test 2 for RAIU4h,test 1,2,3 for RAIU24h respectively; CⅦ-Ⅸ:test 3 for RAIU4h,test 1,2,3 for RAIU24h respectively).Paired t test was used to compare the statistical differences between C H-Ⅸ to C Ⅰ.Results RAIU24 h of test 2 (68.08% ± 7.88%) and test 3 (62.18% ± 7.45%) were significantly lower than that of test 1 (78.05% ± 8.31% ;t =12.15,14.37,respectively,both P < 0.01).Teffs of C Ⅱ (4.42 ± 0.73) d,CⅢ(3.76 ±0.53) d,CⅤ(5.59 ±0.46) d,CⅥ(4.47 ±0.44) d,CⅧ(5.94 ±0.54) d and CⅨ (5.45 ±0.66) d were significantly different from that of C Ⅰ (5.04 ±0.56) d which was defined as standard (t:3.86-13.64,all P <0.01).Among the 180 131I dose values calculated by different Teff and RAIU values induced from C Ⅰ-Ⅸ combinations,74.4% (119/160) were over-calculated while 9.4% (15/160) were under-calculated.Taking one patient as an example, the changes of RAIU24 h (decreased up to 26.0%) and the percentage of Teff deviation(66.9%,ranged from-47.5% to 19.4%)led to an over-calculated 131 I dosage by as high as 129.8% compared with CⅠ.Conclusions Incorrect positioning in RAIU detection could result in various false RAIU,Teff and 131I dose calculations.Such deviations could possibly exert an impact on the patients' therapeutic outcomes, thus influencing the efficacy of the iodine therapy.Optimization of RAIU positioning is essential for clinical practice to guarantee radioiodine dose management.

Objective To observe the effect of Triclosan( TCS) exposure on Caenorhabditis elegans( c. ele-gans) F1 generation of locomotory behavior, brood size, and generation time. Methods The trial included a control group and 4 TCS treatment groups with different doses (100 nmol/L,1 μmol/L,10μmol/L,20μmol/L),the exposure time being 24 hours, the effect of c. elegans′head thrashes, body bending frequency, the brood size and generation time was observed. Results (1) The control group exposed to 100 nmol/L,1 μmol/L,10 μmol/L,20 μmol/L TCS,their head thrash frequency of c. elegans F1 was(109. 40±8. 61) times/min,(84. 70±7. 82) times/min,(76. 35±7. 44) times/min,(74. 74±5. 93)times/min,(71. 95±4. 19)times/min,respectively,the head thrash ability of c. elegans was significantly inhibited(F=62. 245,P<0. 01). (2) When the control group was exposed to 100 nmol/L,1 μmol/L,10μmol/L,20 μmol/LTCS,the frequency of c.elegans F1 body bent was (19.94±2.46)times/20 s,(15.13±1.99) times/20 s,(14.63±2.31)times/20 s,(14.69±1.96)times/20 s,(12.00±1.86)times/20 s,respectively, and the comparative differences between groups were statistically significant(F=25. 636,P<0. 01). (3) When the control group was exposed to 0,100 nmol/L,1 μmol/L,10 μmol/L,20 μmol/L TCS,the body sizes of the c. elegans F1 generation was (286.83±6.01)articles,(273.33±6.41)articles,(214.17±7.25)articles,(173.67±9.20)articles, (118. 50 ± 6. 98 ) articles, respectively, the brood size of the C. elegans F1 generation exposed to 100 nmol/L, 1μmol/L,10 μmol/L,20 μmol/L TCS levels, were reduced by 4. 71%,25. 60%,39. 45%,58. 67%,the ge-neration time of the c. elegans′F1 generation was shortened by 2. 14%-5. 38% in the TCS treatment groups compared with the control group(F=27. 520,P<0. 01). Conclusions After c. elegans exposure to TCS,locomotory behavior can be severe-ly affected, reproductive damage causes a decline in the number of brood size, and the speeding-up of the breeding rate is related to the concentration of TCS concentration-response.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2012;29(4):634-649
The local field potentials (LFPs) underlying specific behavior were recorded and analyzed in this paper from primary motor cortex (M1) with several medium, such as the self-made single channel micro-electrodes, the system of multi-channels physiological signal acquisition and processing and so on. During the experiment, the specific behavior was divided into four periods according to the changes of the recorded LFPs and the changes of the specific behavior recorded simultaneously in rats. The four periods were named prophase of catching period, planning period, catching period and the completion period, respectively. Then several methods were used for the analysis of the LFPs by MATLAB, such as time domain analysis, power spectral distribution analysis and time-frequency analysis. The results suggested that the LFPs which were caused by different behavior from a large number of movement-related neurons of M1 during the specific behavior in the process of catching play an important part in the "code" guiding role in rats. The results demonstrat that the LFPs of M1 may provide a feasibility to discriminate the motor behavior of forelimb.
