ObjectiveTo investigate the value of urinary BNP for diagnosis of chronic heart failure (CHF). MethodsThe levels of Urinary BNP and plasma BNP were measured by microparticle enzyme immunoassay (MEIA) in 83 patients with CHF and 30 control subjects. The heart function was classified according totheNYHAcriteria. Leftventricularejectionfractions(LVEF)weremeasuredby echocardiology. ResultsThe level of urinary BNP in patients with CHF was[90. 0(38. 3 -209. 5 )]ng/L and the level of plasma BNP was[680. 0 ( 289. 7 - 1543.5)]ng/L, both of them were much higher than those in healthy subjects,[17. 0 ( 13.0 - 33. 0)]ng/L and[84. 5 ( 56. 0 - 158.0 )]ng/L, respectively (P<0. 01 ). The concentrations of urinary BNP increased gradually with more severe symptoms ( NYHA cl ass Ⅰ -ⅣV ). The level of urinary BNP was positively correlated with NYHA class ( r = 0. 742, P < 0. 01 )and the level of plasma BNP (r =0. 842,P <0. 01 ) while negatively related with LVEF (r = -0. 801 ,P <0. 01 ). The level of urinary BNP in patients with LVEF < 40% was[143.0 ( 85. 0 - 258.0)]ng/L , which was much higher than that in patients with LVEF≥40% ,[31.5( 17.3 -38. 8)]ng/L, (P <0. 01 ). At a decision threshold of 36. 5 ng/L, the urine BNP assay demonstrated a clinical sensitivity and specificity of 84% and 80% ,respectively. In this study, the area under the curve(AUC) was 0. 905. ConclusionUrinary BNP is a new candidate marker for the diagnosis of CHF,it provides a similar accuracy with plasma BNP.

Background and purpose:Runt-related transcription factor 3 (RUNX3) has a signiifcant relation with gastric cancer. Many researches have confirmed that rs760805 AA can increase the risk of gastric cancer. The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between the rs760805 polymorphism of the RUNX3 gene and gastric cancer. Methods: The rs760805 genotypes were determined by PCR-based DNA sequence measuring analysis and direct DNA sequencing in 310 incident cases with gastric cancer and 327 controls recruited in Shandong. Results:The frequency of TT genotype was 15.16%in gastric cancer patients and 20.49%in normal controls, and the corresponding percentages for AT and AA genotypes were 48.39%and 36.45%, and 52.60%and 26.91%, respectively. Compared to TT genotype, AT genotypes were associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer (OR=1.24, 95%CI`:0.81-1.92;OR=1.83, 95%CI:1.15-2.92). Conclusion:The rs760805 polymorphism of the RUNX3 gene is associated with increased susceptibility to gastric cancer.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Laboratory Science 2019;37(1):67-70
Objective:
To establish the information solution for the classification and assessment of specimen quality based on the assembly line.
Methods:
Before the samples entered into the assembly line, they were took pictures and screened by the image results. For the suspected samples, serum index was detected. Then, the classification criteria of specimen quality were set, and the alarm thresholds of serum indices for each item suitable for our laboratory were established. The results of serum indices were compiled into the corresponding text descriptions and automatically written into the notes of the result reports. The pictures of blood collection tubes were stored in the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and could be accessed at any time for verification. The samples intercepted by the automatic review were further reviewed by manual.
Results:
The intra-assay coefficients of variation (CV) of serum indices for haemolysis (H), lipaemia (L) and icterus (I) were 0.6%, 0.7% and 1.3%, respectively, indicating that the precision was good. Among 657 770 samples detected by the assembly line, 11.9% of samples were screened out before they entered the assembly line. The detection of serum indices of these samples demonstrated that the samples with haemolysis, lipaemia and icterus accounted for 1.6%, 1.2% and 0.3% of the total samples, respectively. According to the results of the interference experiment, the alarm threshold of hemolytic serum index was set in 11 items, and those of lipaemia and icterus were set in 1 item.
Conclusion
By establishing the information solution of specimen quality based on the assembly line, the real-time classification prompting of specimen quality is realized, and the missed detection is avoided, which is helpful to reduce the pre-analysis errors caused by serum quality and simplify the laboratory workflow.
