Objective To evaluate the effect of permanent right ventricular apical (RVA) pacing in different cumulative percent of right ventricular pacing( CUM% VP) on the heart function and cardiac ventricle structure in subjects with normal basic heart function. Methods Patients who had implanted pacemaker when heart function was still normal were recruited in the study while they revisited for replacement or examinations of implanted pacemaker at outpatient. According to different CUM% VP, patients were divided into group A ( CUM% VP≥85% ,n =78) and group B( CUM% VP≤40% ,n =63) . The primary composite endpoint was defined as new-onset heart failure, death, left ventricular ( LV ) dysfunction and remodeling. The occurrence of endpoints were compared between the two groups. The left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and interventricular septum(IVS) were measured through baseline and follow-up, their absolute alterations ( △ LVEF, △ LVEDD and △ IVS ) were observed. Results The mean duration of two assessment was 7.4 years in group A and 7.7 years in group B, respectively. Before pacemaker implantation, there were no differences in age, sex, basic diseases, cardiac function and constituent ratio of pacemakers between the two groups. By comparing the outcomes of group A with those of group B at the end of follow up, we found that: △ LVEDD in group A was significantly larger than that in group B ( [3. 8 ± 0. 5] mm vs [1.4 ± 0. 4] mm,t = 4. 540,P < 0. 01 ), △ LVEF was ( - 6.5 ± 1.2) % and ( - 3.3 ± 1.0) % in group A and B, respectively, with significant difference between the two groups(t = 2. 578 ,P <0. 01 ). There were no significant difference in AIVS between the two groups. No death occurred in both group at the end of follow up. The incidence of LV dysfunction and remodeling was 25.6% (20/78) in group A,which was significantly higher than that of 6.3% (4/63) in group B( x2 =9. 183 ,P =0. 002). and the incidence of new-onset heart failure was 10. 3% (8/78)in group A,which was significantly higher than that of 1.6% (1/63) in group B (x2 =4.383,P =0.036).Conclusion Among patients with normal basic LV function who underwent permanent RVA pacing, there are potential risk in developing LV remodel, function damage and heart failure. The risk increases with the pacing time getting longer and CUM% VP getting higher.

Many clinical bone nonunion or delayed union often appear in the early stage of bone healing, but they have been always found too lately. Before X-ray films of visual changes indicates salt content inbones reaching 25%,the very early changes ofclinical significance can not be observed. This paper introduces the theory of fracture healing and the definition of bone nonunionand the significance of the basic multicellular unit(BMU)and the OPG-RANKL-RANK system in bone reconstruction. Many technologies such as ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis, mechanical impedance analysis, the bone marrow cavity imaging technologiy,high-resolution CT etc.have been reported in study on the bone,as well as early diagnosis of fracture nonunion. However, the molecular level of early diagnosis is deficiency.

Objective To evaluate the value of surface shaded reconstruction (SSD) of CT scanning on developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Methods Unilateral DDH in 39 cases was examined with Picker 2000S spiral CT to perform SSD of the affected pelvis. All patients were females with the age ranging from 3.5 to 8 years old (average 4.25 years). Of 39 cases, 22 cases were complete dislocation the hip, 17 cases were subluxation of the hip. The measurement on SSD included of the depth and surface area of normal and affected acetabulum; the distances from the lowest point of the bottom of the acetabulum (O point) to the anterior end (A point) of the lateral margin of anterior acetabular column (OA), the middle point (B point) of the acetabular roof (OB) and the posterior end (C point) of lateral margin of the posterior acetabular column (OC). Results In normal hip, the medial and lateral margin of the acetabular roof was overlapping, and in DDH, a bony defect was found in the lateral acetabular margin in three-dimensional CT scanning. The depth of the dysplastic hip with subluxation and the normal hip was (21.25?1.25)mm and (23.89?1.56)mm respectively with significant difference(P

Objective To observe the influence of sea sickness elixir on changes in cardiar rhythm in subjects susceptible to sea-sickness. Methods In a double-blind control test, 50 volunteers, 10 persons not susceptible to sea-sickness (controll group) and 40 persons susceptible to sea-sickness to travel their first sea voyage were enrolled. They were divided into three groups, control group (n=10), placebo group (n=20) and test group (n=20). Sea sickness elixir or placebo was administered half an hour before the sea voyage. The 4h dynamic electrocardiogram was collected and the changes in heart rhythm was analyzed using time-domain, frequency domain analysis methods. Meanwhile the symptoms of sea sickness were recorded. Results Sea sickness elixir did have the effect of preventing sea-sickness. The effective rate in the test group (85%) was significantly higher than control group (20%) (P

Objective To investigate the effect and mechanism of Jinkuishenqi wan (JGSQ) on pulmonary fibrosis. Methods Pulmonary fibrosis was induced by bleomycinA5 in SD rats. Rats in treatment group were killed after being treated by JGSQ daily for 28 days. The lungs of all rats were harvested for histopathological studies. The contents of transforming growth factor-?_1 (TGF-?_1) in lungs were measured and compared. Results The contents of TGF-?_1 in lungs increased significantly in model group as compared with normal group and treatment group (P

Objective To observe the expression of oxidized purine nueleoside triphosphatase MTH2 in the hippocampi of senescence-accelerated mouse P8(SAMP8). Methods Randomly selected SAMP8 and its control strain SAMRl aged 1-,4-,8-and 12-month and performed immunohistochemisry and Western blot analysis to explore the expression changes of MTH2 in the 2 groups of mice. Results The MTH2 protein was detected in cytoplasm and nuclei of neurons throughout the whole hippocampus of SAMRl at all ages. There were no obvious changes of SAMR1 in both CA1 and CA3 subregions, but an age-related decline of MTH2 protein in both regions of SAMP8 was found. The optieal density(OD)value of Cal hippoeampus(0.0473),CA3 hippoeampus (0.0510)were significantly less in 8-month old mice than in the 4-month old[CA1:0.0619,CA3:0.06803(all P<0.05).By immunoblot analysis, the grey values of MTH2 expression were 0.529,0.313,0.032 in hippoeampus of 4-12 months-old SAMP8 mice, and significantly Iower than in the age-matched SAMR1 mice(all P<0.05). Conclusions MTH2 deficiency may be a new factor involved in the accelerated aging and in deficits of learning and memory ability in SAMP8.
