Objective　To evaluate the efficacy and safty of pegging hydroxyapatite orbital implants.Methods　Fourty-five patients who received drilling and pegging of hydroxyapatite orbital implants were studied retrospectively, and all patients used the peg and sleeve system followed-up 2 to 24 months.Results　The rate of success of the first operations is 82.2%. Complications associated with pegging included peg hole drilled on an angle, drilling off-center, drilled hole shallow, granuloma and infection, total complications occured in 22.2% in the review, most that are of a minor nature can be cured.Conclusions　The hydroxyapatite orbital implants can be directly coupled to the prosthesis through a peg system, allowing a wide range of prosthesis movement and giving a more lifelike quality to the prosthesis. When and how to drill and exactly hole on implant is the key for pegging.

Objective To investigate inhibitory effects of Oridonin on the proliferation of cultured rabbit conjunctival fibroblast (RCF). Design Experimental study. Participants Cultured RCF obtained from filtering area after trabeculectomy. Methods Trabeculectomy was performed in rabbits. On day 7 after surgery, subconjunctival tissue from filtering area was obtained for culturing RCF in vitro. Cultured RCFs were exposed to different concentration Oridonin (5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 ?mol?L-1) for 48h, respectively. The proliferation of RCF was investigated by MTT assay at different time points. Main Outcome Measures Optical density (OD) value of RCF and inhibitory rate of cell growth. Results OD values of each concentration Oridonin group (5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 ?mol?L-1) were (0.402?0.013), (0.347?0.011), (0.293?0.015), (0.236?0.022), (0.184?0.023), and (0.125?0.014), respectively. These data showed a significant difference compared with the OD value (0.453?0.015) of control group without Oridonin (P=0.021-0.000). The inhibitory effects showed a significant difference in a dose-dependent manner (F=5.48, P=0.003). Oridonin (5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ?mol?L-1) sup-pressed the proliferation of RCF in vitro at rates of 11.26%, 23.40%, 35.32%, 47.90%, 59.38% and 72.41%, respectively. Conclusion Oridonin can inhibit the proliferation of cultured RCF obtained from filtering area. The effect is in a dose-dependent manner. This indicates that Oridonin is most likely to be a novel agent to prevent excessive scarring following glaucoma surgery.

Objective　To study the expression of p73 in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the relationship between p73 expression and clinico-pathological parameters. Methods　Expression of p7 3 gene was detected by RT-PCR in 32 human NSCLC tissues, tissues adjacent to ca ncer and non-cancer lung tissues. Results　p73 gene expression up-regulated substantially and detected in 87.5%(28/32) of human NSCLC tissues while expressed at low level in tissues adjacent to cancer and non-cancer lung tissues. Conclusion　Marked up-regulation of p73 gene expres sion is found in human NSCLC.

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of ropivacaine and bupivacaine in combined spinal epidural anesthesia in abdominal operation. Methods:Totally 86 abdominal operation patients with combined spinal epidural anesthesia were randomly divid-ed into group A and group B with 43 ones in each. Group A was with ropivacaine anesthesia, while group B was with levobupivacaine anesthesia. The anesthesia effect, hemodynamic changes at different time points and adverse drug reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:The duration of sensory block in the two groups was not statistically different (P>0. 05), while the patients in group A had shorter motor nerve recovery time than those in group B (P<0. 05), and Bromege score of group A was significantly lower than that of group B (P<0. 05). After the onset of anesthesia block, all hemodynamic parameters (SBP, DBP and HR) in the two groups were lower than those before the anesthesia (P<0. 05), while at the end of anesthesia, the parameters showed no statistically significant difference from those before the anesthesia (P>0. 05). During the operation, the parameters at different time points in group A had no significant difference from those in group B (P>0. 05). The incidence of adverse drug reaction was not statistically significant between the two groups as well (P>0. 05). Conclusion:Ropivacaine and levobupivacaine show similar blocking effect on the sensory nerve with the same effects on hemodynamics and adverse reactions, however, the blocking effect of ropivacaine on motor nerve is weaker, which is more beneficial to the early exercise of the patients after operation.

Objective To assess the value of S index and FIB-4 for diagnosis of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) by comparing with traditional indexes APRI and Forns.Methods A total of 361 patients with confirmed CHB from the First Hospital of Nanjing Medical University and Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University during January 2006 and December 2011 were enrolled in the study.The clinical,laboratory and pathological data of patients were collected.Four noninvasive score systems APRI,Forns,S index and FIB-4 were computed.With liver biopsy as the gold standard,the area under the ROC curve (AUROC) was used to assess the value of above 4 score systems in diagnosis of liver fibrosis,and Z test was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of above systems.Results The areas under ROC curve (AUCs) of APRI,Forns,S index and FIB-4 for significant fibrosis (≥S2) were (0.737 ±0.027),(0.716 ± 0.028),(0.745 ± 0.026) and (0.781 ± 0.025),respectively.When the cut off value of FIB-4 was set at 1.62,the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) for diagnosis of significant fibrosis were 59.3％,85.8％,89.4％ and 51.2％,respectively,which were better than Forn index (Z =3.28,P =0.001).While for S4 (cirrhosis) the AUCs of APRI,Foms,S index and FIB-4 were (0.687 ± 0.035),(0.792 ± 0.028),(0.863 ± 0.024) and (0.832 ± 0.025),respectively.When the cut off value of S index was set at 1.06,the sensitivity,specificity,PPV and NPV for diagnosis of cirrhosis were 77.9％,85.5％,59.4％ and 93.5％,respectively,which were better than APRI and Forns (Z =6.74 and 3.21,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions APRI,Forns,S index and FIB-4 are simple and accurate methods for assessing liver fibrosis.FIB-4 and S index are better than APRI and Forns in diagnosis of significant fibrosis and cirrhosis,which may replace liver biopsy in certain extend.
