Bone is a highly calcified and vascularized tissue. The vascular system plays a vital role in supporting bone growth and repair, such as the provision of nutrients, growth factors, and metabolic waste transfer. Moreover, the additional functions of the bone vasculature, such as the secretion of various factors and the regulation of bone-related signaling pathways, are essential for maintaining bone health. In the bone microenvironment, bone tissue cells play a critical role in regulating angiogenesis, including osteoblasts, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), and osteoclasts. Osteogenesis and bone angiogenesis are closely linked. The decrease in osteogenesis and bone angiogenesis caused by aging leads to osteoporosis. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in various physiological processes, including osteogenesis and angiogenesis. Recent studies have shown that lncRNAs could mediate the crosstalk between angiogenesis and osteogenesis. However, the mechanism by which lncRNAs regulate angiogenesis‒osteogenesis crosstalk remains unclear. In this review, we describe in detail the ways in which lncRNAs regulate the crosstalk between osteogenesis and angiogenesis to promote bone health, aiming to provide new directions for the study of the mechanism by which lncRNAs regulate bone metabolism.

Objective To screen the distribution frequency of Mur blood group among voluntary blood donors in Hezhou,Guangxi,and further analyze the molecular basis of of Mur antigen positive samples.Methods The Mur pheno-type of voluntary blood donors in Hezhou was serologically screened using microplate method,and the distribution frequency of Mur antigens in different ethnic groups was analyzed.Genetic typing was performed on these positive samples with PCR-SSP method to verify the accuracy of the serological method,and the genetic background was sequenced and analyzed.Re-sults Among 3 298 samples from voluntary blood donors in Hezhou,432(13.10%,432/3 298)were screened positive for Mur antigen,and PCR-SSP genotyping validation showed that all 432 samples were electrophoretic positive.Among them,the proportion of Han blood donors with positive Mur antigen was12.79%(331/2 587),Yao ethnic group was13.25%(64/483),Zhuang ethnic group was 16.51%(36/218),and no statistically significant difference was found in the three groups(P＞0.05).Further sequencing results showed that 428 samples were GYP(B-A-B)Mur,also known as GYP.Mur type(12.98%,428/3 298),the other 4 samples were GYP(B-A-B)Bun,also known as GYP.Bun type(0.12%,4/3 298).Conclusion The Mur blood type frequency is high in the voluntary blood donors in Hezhou,Guangxi,and is predominant characterized by GYP.Mur genotype.Due to ethnic integration,no significant difference was noticed in the frequency of Mur blood type distribution between Han,Zhuang and Yao population.Therefore,conducting extensive Mur blood group antigen and antibody testing in Hezhou is of great significance for ensuring clinical blood transfusion safety.

Objective To investigate the expression of Nanog and its regulatory relationship with MMP-2/MMP-9 proteins in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods We detected Nanog and MMP-2/MMP-9 protein expressions in 127 ESCC tissues and 82 adjacent normal tissues using immunohistochemistry and explored their correlations with the clinicopathological parameters and prognosis of the patients.GEO database was utilized to analyze the pathways enriched with the stemness-related molecules including Nanog,and TIMER online tool was used to analyze the correlations among TβR1,MMP-2,and MMP-9 in esophageal cancer.Results Nanog and MMP-2/MMP-9 proteins were significantly upregulated in ESCC tissues and positively intercorrelated.Their expression levels were closely correlated with infiltration depth and lymph node metastasis of ESCC but not with age,gender,or tumor differentiation.The patients with high expressions of Nanog and MMP-2/MMP-9 had significantly shorter survival time.Bioinformatics analysis showed enrichment of stemness-associated molecules in the TGF-β signaling pathway,and the expressions of MMP-2/MMP-9 and TβR1 were positively correlated.In cultured ESCC cells,Nanog knockdown significantly decreased the expression of TβR1,p-Smad2/3,MMP-2,and MMP-9 and strongly inhibited cell migration.Conclusion The high expressions of Nanog,MMP-2,and MMP-9,which are positively correlated,are closely related with invasion depth,lymph node metastasis,and prognosis of ESCC.Nanog regulates the expressions of MMP-2/MMP-9 proteins through the TGF-β signaling pathway,and its high expression promotes migration of ESCC cells.

ObjectiveTo explore the influence of excessive weight gain during pregnancy in pre-pregnancy overweight and obese women on pregnancy outcomes and neonatal conditions， and to provide scientific evidence for formulating weight management strategies before and during pregnancy and prevent adverse pregnancy outcomes. MethodsClinical data of 2 172 parturients collected from a community in Huangpu District from 2017 to 2021 were retrospectively analyzed， and they were divided into pre-pregnancy overweight and obesity group （n=530）， normal pre-pregnancy weight group（n=937）， and underweight pre-pregnancy group（n=705） according to maternal precursor body mass index （BMI）. Based on their weight gain during pregnancy，the parturient were divided into moderate gestational weight gain （MGWG） group and excessive gestational weight gain （EGWG） group. Meanwhile， the pregnancy and neonatal outcomes such as postpartum hemorrhage， puerperal infection， placental abruption， premature rupture of membranes， mode of delivery， premature birth， stillbirth， fetal distress， admission to the intensive care unit （ICU）， macrosomia， and Apgar score， were recorded. Then the differences in pregnancy and neonatal outcomes between groups were compared. The effects of pre-pregnancy BMI and gestational weight gain on pregnancy outcomes and neonatal conditions was retrospectively analyzed. ResultsThe pre-pregnancy overweight and obese group had higher proportions of placental abruption， premature rupture of membranes， cesarean section， premature birth， fetal distress， and macrosomia compared to the normal pre-pregnancy weight group and the underweight pre-pregnancy group， with Apgar scores lower than the normal pre-pregnancy weight group and the underweight pre-pregnancy group （all P<0.05）. The EGWG group had higher proportions of postpartum hemorrhage， placental abruption， premature rupture of membranes， cesarean section， premature birth， fetal distress， admission to the ICU， and macrosomia than the MGWG group （all P<0.05）. In the pre-pregnancy overweight and obese group， the EGWG group had higher proportions of placental abruption， premature rupture of membranes， premature birth， fetal distress， admission to the ICU， and macrosomia than the MGWG group， with lower Apgar scores than the MGWG group （all P<0.05）. In the normal pre-pregnancy weight group， the EGWG group had higher proportions of placental abruption， premature rupture of membranes， premature birth， fetal distress， admission to the ICU， and macrosomia than the MGWG group （all P<0.05）. In the pre-pregnancy overweight and obese group， the EGWG group had higher proportions of premature rupture of membranes， cesarean section， premature birth， fetal distress， and macrosomia than the EGWG group in the normal pre-pregnancy weight group（all P<0.05）. Logistic regression analysis showed that EGWG in pre-pregnancy overweight and obese women was a risk factor for placental abruption （OR=2.971， 95%CI： 1.098‒8.042）， premature rupture of membranes （OR=4.662， 95%CI： 2.798‒7.770）， cesarean delivery （OR=1.375，95%CI： 1.260‒2.541）， premature birth （OR=4.249， 95%CI： 2.384‒7.573）， fetal distress （OR=3.238， 95%CI： 1.589‒6.598）， admission to the ICU （OR=3.010， 95%CI： 1.265‒7.164）， and macrosomia （OR=5.437， 95%CI： 3.392‒8.716） （all P<0.05）. ConclusionExcessive gestational weight gain in pre-pregnancy overweight and obese women is a risk factors for placental abruption， premature rupture of membranes， cesarean section， premature birth， fetal distress， admission to the ICU， and macrosomia.

Objective:To study the feasibility of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)technique with amide proton transfer(APT)in predicting the prognosis of cerebral stroke.Methods:A total of 71 patients with acute cerebral stroke who admitted to the Nanjing First Hospital,Nanjing Medical University from September 2022 to May 2023 were selected.All of them underwent the test of National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),and received the MRI examination with chemical exchange saturation transfer(CEST).According to the modified Rankin scale(mRS)values of 1-month follow-up,they were divided into favorable recovery group(mRS<2,44 cases)and poor group(mRS≥2,27 cases).The asymmetric magnetization transfer ratio(MTRasym)image(APT)was obtained by analyzing data with special software.And then,the difference(△APTw)of APT values between ischemic zone and contralateral normal tissue was further calculated.The △APTw values of two groups were compared and analyzed,and the Pearson correlation analysis was adopted to analyze the correlation among △APTw,NIHSS and mRS.The receiver operating characteristics(ROC)curve was drawn,and the area under curve(AUC)of ROC curve was calculated.Results:There were significant positive correlations among △APTw,NIHSS and mRS scores(R2=0.659,0.522,P<0.001),and the differences of △APTW,NIHSS and mRS scores between the favorable recovery group and poor group were significant(t=5.73,6.36,13.92,P<0.05),respectively.The AUC value was 0.886,and the sensitivity and specificity of prediction were respectively 77.8%and 95.5%.The positive and negative predictive values were respectively 91.3%and 87.5%.Conclusion:APT imaging technique has feasibility in predicting the prognosis of acute cerebral ischemic stroke.

Objective:To analyze the current adoption of palliative care by patients with unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in China.Methods:From 1 March 2023 to 30 June 2023, a questionnaire survey was conducted by random sampling. An exclusive research platform for the Blue Book on Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Metastatic Colorectal Cancer. An online questionnaire was sent to medical oncologists (including chief physicians, associate chief physicians, attending physicians and residents) in general hospitals and oncology hospitals in four major regions of East, Central, South and Northeast China. The questionnaire contained 28 questions requesting basic information about doctors, the number of patients with mCRC, the status of treatment from first to fourth line and beyond, points concerning treatment of pain in patients with mCRC, and expectations for the future. A medical team was responsible for the quality control of data collected, whereas statisticians performed the data cleaning and sorting and statistical analysis.Results:A total of 300 clinical questionnaires were collected, including 217 (72%) from doctors in general hospitals and 83 (28%) from doctors in oncology hospitals. Senior physicians (including associate chief physicians and chief physicians) accounted for 65% of the respondents, attending physicians 30%, and residents 5%. Within 3 months (average for each month), 46.4±26.6% patients were diagnosed with recurrent or unresectable mCRC by each physician, 51.6±26.8% of the patients being in cancer hospitals and 44.4±26.3% in general hospitals. One hundred percent of patients receiving first-line treatment received palliative care, as did 80.3% of those receiving second-line treatment, 58.2% of those receiving third-line treatment, and 35.1% of those receiving ≥fourth-line treatment. The primary factor governing selection of first-line treatment was guideline recommendations, whereas comorbidities and the patients' physical status dictated second line to fourth line treatment. Standard first-line treatment was administered to 93.8% of eligible patients, standard second-line treatment to 94.3%; and standard third-line treatment to 73.5%. First-line therapy included targeted therapy in 63.6% of patients and immunotherapy in 2.8%; second-line therapy included targeted therapy in 63.0% of patients and immunotherapy in 2.0%; third-line therapy included targeted therapy in 59.2% of patients and immunotherapy in 2.2%; and fourth-line therapy included targeted therapy in 48.7% of patients and immunotherapy in 3.1%. First-line treatment lasted an average of 9.6 months, second-line treatment 6.7 months, third-line treatment 4.9 months, and fourth-line treatment 3.7 months. More than 70% of the patients maintained a good quality of life after receiving first and second-line treatment and more than 60% of them had ECOG performance scores of 0–1. After receiving third- and fourth-line treatment, 50%–60% of patients maintained a good quality of life and 40%–50% of them maintained ECOG performance scores of 0–1. The survey also revealed that the main deficiencies in treatment were limited effectiveness of third-line treatment, insufficient availability and opportunity for clinical research, popularity of new drugs or new drug combination strategies, and limited channels for participation in multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment. Clinicians reported looking forward to participating in more clinical research on new drugs, hearing about the experience of experts in the field, and discovery of new targets and new drugs that increased the options for posterior line treatment of colorectal cancer.Conclusions:This report objectively summarizes the current situation, treatment difficulties, and expectations of frontline physicians concerning management of mCRC, thus providing a basis for decision-making and future direction for the diagnosis and research on treatment of mCRC.

Objective To investigate the knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)of medical staff and parents of children on the risk of using traditional Chinese patent medicine,analyze the similarities and differences between the two groups of people in their knowledge of traditional Chinese patent medicine,medication attitudes and medication behaviors,and analyze the influencing factors of traditional Chinese patent medicine medication risk from the perspective of"doctor-patient",so as to better guide clinical work.Methods From July to November 2023,the medical staff of Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics(hereinafter referred to as"our hospital")and other hospitals,as well as the parents of children who had visited our hospital and taken traditional Chinese patent medicine were taken as the subjects of the survey.The questionnaires were distributed and collected by Questionnarie Stars to analyze the KAP scores of medical staff and parents of children on the risk of children using traditional Chinese patent medicine,and the factors influencing the scores of KAP of taking traditional Chinese patent medicine were analyzed using Logistic regression analysis.And Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation among knowledge,attitude and practice.Results A total of 339 valid questionnaires(the effective recovery rate of 98.83%)were collected from the medical staff version of the questionnaire.The medical staff with excellent knowledge,attitude and practice scores accounted for 16.22%,7.08%and 83.19%,respectively.A total of 336 valid questionnaires(the effective recovery rate of 98.82%)were collected from the parents'version.The parents of the children with excellent knowledge,attitude and practice scores accounted for 25.87%,3.57%and 30.65%,respectively.Logistic regression analysis showed that different hospital locations and educational levels were important influencing factors for the KAP of medical personnel,while the age,education level,work status,occupation,and monthly income of parents were important influencing factors for their KAP(P<0.05).The Spearman correlation analysis results showed a significant positive correlation among medication knowledge,attitude,and behavior(P<0.01).Conclusion Medical staff and parents of children need to further improve their knowledge and attitude towards the use of traditional Chinese patent medicine.Parents need to pay special attention to standardizing drug use practice,so as to reduce the risk of children using traditional Chinese patent medicine.Physicians and pharmacists can carry out appropriate traditional Chinese patent medicine knowledge popularization and science popularization for parents of children combined with the results of this study.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate effectiveness of suture anchor fixation combined with Nice knot strapping via longitudinal patellar drilling in the treatment of patellar inferior pole fractures. METHODS: A clinical data of 37 patients with unilateral patellar inferior pole fracture who met the selection criteria between June 2017 and June 2021 was retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 17 cases were treated with the suture anchor fixation combined with Nice knot strapping via longitudinal patellar drilling (group A), and 20 cases were treated with the traditional Kirschner wire tension band technique (group B). There was no significant difference in terms of gender, age, body mass index, fracture side, combined medical disease, and preoperative hemoglobin between the two groups ( P>0.05). Operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative complications, fracture healing time, knee range of motion, and knee function Bostman score (range of motion, pain, daily work, muscle atrophy, walking aids, knee effusion, soft leg, and stair climbing) and grading were recorded in both groups at last follow-up. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in operation time and intraoperative blood loss between the two groups ( P>0.05). All incisions healed by first intention. All patients were followed up 1-2 years, with an average of 1.7 years. X-ray films reexamination showed that all fractures in group A healed, while 2 cases in group B did not heal. There was no significant difference in bone healing time between the two groups ( P>0.05). At last follow-up, the knee range of motion, the range of motion score of Bostman score, total score and effectiveness grading in group A were significantly better than those in group B ( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the other items of Bostman scores between the two groups ( P>0.05). During follow-up, 2 cases of internal fixation failure and 1 case of internal fixator irritation occurred in group B, and no complication related to internal fixation occurred in group A. The occurrence of complications was significantly lower in group A than in group B ( P<0.05). CONCLUSION Compared with the traditional Kirschner wire tension band technique, the suture anchor combined with Nice knot strapping via longitudinal patellar drilling for the patellar inferior pole fractures has the advantages of simple operation, reliable fixation, early flexion and extension activity, and better functional recovery of knee joint.
