Chinese Journal of Biochemical Pharmaceutics 2016;36(6):130-132
Objective To analyse the effect of Danhong injection on serum levels of cystatin C (CysC), homocysteine (Hcy) and inflammatory factors in elderly patients with chronic heart failure. Methods Fifty-two elderly patients who were diagnosed with chronic heart failure in our hospital were collected. All patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, 26 cases in each group, the control group were given conventional therapy, the experimental group received Danhong injection adjunctive therapy on the basis of the control group. After treatment, the serum levels of CysC, Hcy, nuclear transcription factorκB (NF-κB), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), heart function and incidence of adverse reactions were detected in all patients. Results After treatment, compared with control group, the serum levels of CysC and Hcy were lower, the serum levels of NF-κB,IL-1βand TNF-αwere lower in the experimental group, and the levels of left ventricular ejection fraction ( LVEF) and stroke volume (SV) were lower in the experimental group, there were significant difference between two groups (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups. Conclusion The Danhong injection therapy could significantly reduce the serum levels of CysC, Hcy and inflammatory factors in elderly patients with chronic heart failure, reduce the inflammatory reaction, improve the heart function, and have high safety.
2.The current status and perspectives of esophagectomy
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2016;43(12):507-510
Surgery is the main treatment of esophageal cancer. Esophagectomy by right transthoracic approach is recently recom-mended in China. Minimally invasive esophagectomy is feasible and safe with low perioperative morbidity and offers results that are as good as open thoractomy. Multimodal treatment, especially neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy or chemotherapy, may improve surviv-al and has become one of the standard treatments for locally advanced esophageal cancer. Fast-track esophagectomy may reduce length of hospital stay, perioperative morbidity, and hospital charges. The surgery of esophageal cancer tends to be minimally invasive, individual, comprehensive, and standardized.

International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2014;(11):1379-1381
Objective To explore the antagonistic effect of Schistosoma japonicum soluble adult worm antigen (SWA)and solu-ble egg antigen (SEA)in the mice with type 1 diabetes. Methods The 24 successful modeling type 1 diabetes mice were randomly divided into three groups (A,B,C group,n=8).SWA and SEA of Schistosoma japonicum were prepared.Mice in A group were immunized by abdominal subcutaneous multi-point injection SWA.Mice in B group were immunized by abdominal subcutaneous multi-point injection SEA.And mice models of C group were immunized by PBS instead of antigen through abdominal subcutaneous injection. The mice got immunization once a week,a total of four times.4 weeks later, the mice were sacrificed, and serum speci-mens were collected for the determination of serum levels of IL-4 and IFN-γby double-antibody sandwich ELISA,while pancreas tissues were collected and the pathological changes were observed. Results The serum IL-4 level of B group [(23.87 ±4.85)pg/mL]was higher than C group [(4.39 ± 0.56 )pg/mL],with significant differences (P < 0.01 ),while the serum IFN-γ level [(271.85±26.04)pg/mL]was lower than C group [(362.79 ±32.50)pg/mL],also with significant differences (P <0.01).The serum IL-4 and IFN-γof A group were (5.09±0.37)pg/mL and (379.56±34.47)pg/mL,which had no difference with C group (P >0.05).The islet structure of mice in B group was not intact, however, the lymphocytic infiltration in B group was less than C group, and there was no lymphocytic infiltration in pancreatic islets in B group.Compared with C group, the pancreas of mice in A group did not have significant changes, lymphocytes infiltration was still visible in islets. The number of residual islet cells de-creased,and visible minority islet structure was destroyed. Conclusion SEA of Schistosoma japonicum has certain antagonism effect on type 1 diabetes in experimental mice. Its mechanism may be the reduction of Th1 response and the enhancement of Th2 response through increasing IL-4 level and decreasing IFN-γlevel.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
Energy expenditure of five young adults worked in the hot desert environment were measured by the methods of indirect calorimetry in the Wuwei Gansou in July 1989.The results indicated that the basal metabolism rate, the resting metabolism rate and the energy cost of young adults marching in the desert and Gobi (15kg load, at rate of 3.5km/h) were 2.782,3.059,14. 188, 10.305 kJ? m-2?min-1 respectively. It was shown that under the similar conditions energy expenditure marching in the desert was 38% more than in the Gobi.Ambient temperature had a greater effect on energy expenditure but the effect was various at different activities. When at 24.5-38.4℃ during marchi-ng(15kg load),1℃increase in ambient temperature was associated with anincrease of about 0.86% energy consumption. While at 25-33℃ during quiet rest the energy consumption tended to decrease with an increase of ambient temperature. But at 33-40℃ it increased with ambient temperature again. It is suggested that the energy metabolism may be more easily influenced by ambient temperature when the metabolic heat production of human body is increased. The present study recommended the estimation of energy requirement for the adult with a moderate activity in hot desert environment should be approximate 15.062MJ/d

Objective To investigate the changes of the expression of osteoprotegerin (OPG) and receptor activator nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL) during the healing of mandibular fracture after the transection of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) in rabbits. Methods Forty rabbits were randomly divided into 2 groups and each group consisted of 20 animals. The rabbits of the first group underwent mandibular fracture and transection of IAN and those of the second group underwent mandibular fracture only. The rabbits were killed at 7, 14, 21, 28 day after fracture. The callus tissue of the rabbits was collected and paraffin sections of the callus tissue were prepared. The callus sections were subjected to HE staining. The effects of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) on the expression of OPG and RANKL were observed with immunohistochemical staining. Results There were only a few CGRP immunoreactive nerve fibers at day 7 after IAN section. Low level of OPG expression was found throughout the repair process but RANKL was intensively expressed in the rabbits of the first group. Conclusion CGRP can up-regulate the expression ratio of OPG/RANKL and promote the healing process of fracture. The loss of CGRP is unfavorable to bony healing.
