Objective To investigate the water equivalent of two solid water phantoms.Methods The X-ray and electron beam depth-ion curves were measured in water and two solid water phantoms,RW3 and Virtual Water.The water-equivalency correction factors for the two solid water phantoms were compared.We measured and calculated the range sealing factors and the fluence correction factors for the two solid water phantoms in the case of electron beams. Results The average differenee between the measurled ionization in solid water phantoms and water was 0.42%and 0.16%on 6 MV X-ray(t=-6.15.P=0.001and t=-1.65,P=0.419)and 0.21%and 0.31%on 10 MV X-ray(t=1.728,P=0.135 and t=-2.296,P=0.061),with 17.4%and 14.5%on 6 MeV electron beams(t=-1.37.P=0.208 and t=-1.47,P=0.179)and 7.0%and 6.0%on 15 MeV electron beams(t=-0.58.P=0.581 and t=-0.90,P=0.395).The water-equivalency correction factors for the two solid water Dhantoms varied slightly largely,F=58.54,P=0.000 on 6 MV X-ray,F=0.211.P=0.662 on 10 MV X.ray,F=0.97.P=0.353 on 6 MeV electron beams,F=0.14,P=0.717 on 15 MeV electron beams.However,they were almost equal to 1 near the referenee depths.The two solid water phantoms showed a similar tread of Cpl increasing(F=26.40,P=0.014)and hpl decreasing(F=7.45,P=0.072)with increasing energy.Conclusion The solid water phantom should undergo a quality control test before being clinical use.

OBJECTIVE:To optimize freeze-drying technology of albendazole nanosuspension so as to prepare albendazole nanometer powder. METHODS:By adopting freeze-drying method,with particle size and Zeta potential as the indexes,single fac-tor test and verification were made on pre-freezing temperature and the type,ratio and mass fraction of cryoprotectants,and then the albendazole nanosuspension prepared by liquid phase precipitation method was made into albendazole nanometer powder. RE-SULTS:When the pre-freezing temperature was-20℃and the cryoprotectant was 4%glucose-mannitol(3∶7),the average parti-cle size of the prepared nanometer powder was (208.03 ± 2.13) nm,and average Zeta potential was (-15.53 ± 0.18) mV. CON-CLUSIONS:Albendazole nanometer powder with better particle size and potential can be prepared by freeze-drying technology.

To investigate the protective effect of hyperin (Hyp) on focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury in rats.

Objective To probe the difference in outcome between genders treated by a modern unisex design of total knee replacement. Methods Eighty OA patients treated with unilateral total knee replacement between January 2001 and December 2004 were evaluated retrospectively. There were 40 patients in male and female group each.The inclusion criteria included:age ranged from 53 to 77 years;The flexion deformity was less than 40 degrees, the genu varum or genu valgum deformity was less than 20 degrees. Patients who had a diagnosis other than primary osteoarthritis and who had had previous open knee surgery were excluded. There were 20 patients treated with posterior cruciate ligament-retained mobile-beating prosthesis and 20 patients treated with posterior stabilized fixed-bearing prosthesis in each group. The patients were assessed clinically with use of American Knee Society score (KSS score). Results All patients were followed up, with the mean time of 6.3 years. At the final follow-up, the improvement of KSS knee score was 34.87±27.14 in males and 30.23±26.13 in females (U=0.78, P=0.0519). The improvement of KSS function score was 21.45±19.47 in males and 22.79±17.31 in females (U=0.2, P=0.1635).There was no difference between the genders in terms of improvement in the knee function score and function score. Conclusion There was little difference in outcome between the genders treated by a modem unisex design of total knee replacement in this study.
