Anti-angiogenesis therapies have emerged as new treatment strategies for several types of tumors. To date, the most studied programs are to find out effective medicines to block the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathway. However, VEGF inhibitors are not effective to all kinds of tumors.Thus there is a need to explore other angiogenesis signaling pathways. Recently, the Dll4-Notch pathway was identified as a new target in tumor angiogenesis. Moreover, an important feature in angiogenesis is the manifold ways in which the VEGF and Dll4-Notch pathways interact each other, which play critical roles in tumor angiogenesis. Therefore, the further exploration of these two pathways will provide more therapies for clinic to treat tumors.

Objective To investigate the effect of hyperoxia on fluid transport by fetal distal lung epithelia(FDLE) and the expression of epithelial sodium channel(ENaC) in these cells.Methods FDLE were isolated and randomized into hyperoxia group and normoxia group,which were primarily cultured under hyperoxic or normoxic conditions,respectively.Fluid transport was measured using monolayers of FDLE cultured on Transwell permeable inserts.Western blot was applied to examine the α-ENaC expression.Results Fluid transport across monolayer of FDLE was increased in cells exposed to hyperoxia compaired with cells cultured in normoxic conditions (1.78 ± 0.19 vs 1.06 ± 0.11,P ＜ 0.001).Amiloride significantly decreased the fluid transport in both of the hyperoxia and normoxia groups,but in the presence of amiloride there were no difference between the two groups.The expression of α-ENaC was inhibited by hyperoxia to some extent(24h:0.44 ±0.04 vs 0.40 ±0.04,P=0.22; 48h:0.35 ±0.03 vs 0.47 ±0.06,P =0.03).Conclusion Hyperoxia enhanced total and amiloride-sensitive fluid transport by FDLE.However,the expression of α-ENaC decreased in these cells.

Objective To observe the effect of self-assembling Atractylodes Rhizome Decoction combined with quadruple therapy on Helicobacter pylori (Hp)-positive peptic ulcer and its effect on wound healing, gastric acid secretion and recurrence.MethodsThis study was based on 70 patients with Hp-positive peptic ulcer treated in our hospital from March 2012 to May 2014.The patients were divided into study group and control group according to the order of admission.(BAO), the maximum gastric acid secretion (MAO), the peak gastric acid secretion (P<0.05).The treatment group is divided into two groups according to the treatment group.(PAO), Hp eradication and recurrence were observed and compared.ResultsAfter treatment, the total effective rate of wound healing study group was 80.00% higher than that 57.14% of the control group (χ2=4.242, P<0.05).The levels of BAO, MAO and PAO in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05).The eradication rates of Hp in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group at 6 months and 1 year follow-up.The recurrence rate was significantly lower in the study group than in the control group (P<0.05),There was no significant difference between the two groups.ConclusionThe clinical effect of self-made Baishui Yipi Decoction combined with quadruple therapy on Hp-positive peptic ulcer patients is effective in promoting wound healing and Hp eradication, and inhibiting gastric acid secretion and reducing the recurrence rate.It is a kind of medicine worthy of clinical application Program.

ObjectiveTo investigate the curative effect of the treatment for the distal humeral shaft fracture with double steel plate internal fixation. Methods A total of 60 individuals who were humeral shaft fractures were included from March 2009 to April 2014 in the second people's hospital of Yunnan province. 28 of them were treated using double plate fixation(group A)and 32 of them were treated using single-plate treatment (group B). Blood loss, hospital stay, postoperative drainage, healing time and Mayo elbow performance score were compared between the two groups. Results(1)Blood loss, hospital stay and postoperative drainage showed no differences between two groups. However, the healing time between these two groups showed difference(P < 0.05).(2)MEPS score results showed a significantly difference in the excellent rate of patients between groups A and B(96.4% and 75%, respectively,P < 0.05). Conclusion The double plate fixation and single plate fixation for treatment of humeral shaft fracture showed no differences in operation time,blood loss,postoperative drainage and hospital stay. However,the double plate fixation showed a shorter healing time and better efficacy. Thus,the double plate fixation of humeral shaft fracture can contribute to obtain the rigid internal fixation,early functional exercise and better clinical efficacy.

Objective To investigate the changes of epithelial sodium channel(ENaC) expression and sodium and water transport function in the neonatal rat pulmonary edema induced by hyperoxia.Methods The neonatal rats were randomly divided into the hyperoxia group and the control group.After 1,3,5 and 7 d hyperoxia exposure,the lung tissues were collected to measure the wet-to-dry weight ratio and the expression of α-,β-and γ-ENaC subunits were detected by western blot analysis.Alveolar fluid clearance (AFC) and amiloride-sensitive AFC were measured after 5 d to reveal the effect of hyperoxia on the activity of ENaC.Results The lung water contents significantly increased in the hyperoxia group indicating that pulmonary edemahappened(3 d:(6.37 ±0.64) vs (5.56±0.15),t=3.46,P＜0.01;5 d:(5.86 +0.52) vs (5.11±0.21),t=-3.82,P ＜0.01;7 d:(5.56±0.45) vs (4.80±0.09),t =-4.72,P ＜0.01).AFC increased significantly,but no significant difference was found in amiloride-insensitive AFC between the two groups which indicate that amiloride-sensitive AFC increased significantly (AFC:(20.32 ± 3.33) ％ vs (12.97 ± 2.46) ％,t =-6.16,P ＜ 0.01 ; amiloride-insensitive AFC:(10.42 ± 3.44) ％ vs (8.67 ± 3.13) ％,t =-1.30 P =0.21).The expression of α-,β-and γ-ENaC did not reduced after hyperoxia exposure compared with the control group.Conclusion Although bronchopulmonary dysplasia of early pulmonary edema induced by hyperoxia,dysfunctional transport of Na + may not be a key factor involved in pulmonary edema at the early stage of bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

Objective The purpose of this investigation was to observe the effects of the glutamate/aspartate transporter(GLAST) antibody to auditory brainstem response(ABR) and the pathologic morphology of hair cells in the guinea pig's cochlea. Methods 20 guinea pigs were randomly divided into the experimental group and control group. By perfusing the antibody to GLAST into tympanic canal in the cochlea of guinea pigs in experimental group and artificial perilymph into the guinea's cochlea in control group,the results of ABR ,basilar membrane stretched preparation and transmission electron microscope were observed. Results After antibody perfusion,the ABR was not induced from the third day to the ninth day.In control group,the ABR was nearly absent on the third day,but could be evolved,on the sixth day and the ninth day in all guinea pigs with the average threshold of 62.50?5.25 dB SPL and 47.50?6.18 dB SPL,respectively. OBJECTIVE:To optimize freeze-drying technology of albendazole nanosuspension so as to prepare albendazole nanometer powder. METHODS:By adopting freeze-drying method,with particle size and Zeta potential as the indexes,single fac-tor test and verification were made on pre-freezing temperature and the type,ratio and mass fraction of cryoprotectants,and then the albendazole nanosuspension prepared by liquid phase precipitation method was made into albendazole nanometer powder. RE-SULTS:When the pre-freezing temperature was-20℃and the cryoprotectant was 4%glucose-mannitol(3∶7),the average parti-cle size of the prepared nanometer powder was (208.03 ± 2.13) nm,and average Zeta potential was (-15.53 ± 0.18) mV. CON-CLUSIONS:Albendazole nanometer powder with better particle size and potential can be prepared by freeze-drying technology.

Objective To analyze the results and prognosis for patients with inoperable pancreatic carcinoma treated by interventional chemotherapy (IC) ,three-dimensional radiotherapy (RT), or IC + RT.Methods From 2003 to 2008,139 patients with locally advanced (82 patients, stage Ⅲ) or metastatic (57 patients, stage Ⅳ) pancreatic cancer were retrospectively analyzed, including 74 with pancreatic head carcinoma (53.2%).Three patients with ductal adenocarcinoma were diagnosed with fine-needle aspiration, all other patients were clinically diagnosed with imagings (CT, MRI and/or ultrasonosraphy),clinical symptoms and tumor markers, There were 71,34 and 34 patients receiving IC alone, 3DCRT alone and 3DCRT plus IC, respectively.Log-rank univariate and Cox model multivariate analyses were used to determine prognostic factors.Results The follow-up rate was 92.1%.115 and 98 patients were followedup longer than 1 and 2 years, respectively.The 1-and 2-year overall survival rates were 37.1% and 16.3%for all patients, 44% and 20% for patients with locally advanced disease.The corresponding rates were 18% and 5%, 61% and 29% ,48% and 25% (χ2= 14.65,P=0.001) for patients receiving IC alone, RT alone, and IC + RT, respectively.In univariate analysis, staging (χ2= 44.49, P = 0.035), radiotherapy (χ2= 15.32, P = 0.000) and tumor location (χ2= 10.741, P = 0.002) were prognostic factors.In multivariate analysis, tumor location (χ2= 5.00, P = 0.025) and radiotherapy (χ2= 7.93, P = 0.005) were prognostic factors.Conclusions Radiotherapy can improve overall survival among patients with inoperable pancreatic cancer.The effect of RT + IC should be further investigated.
