1.Changes of electroretinogram in temporary traumatic ocular hypotention
Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2001;0(03):-
Objective To observe the changes of electroretinogram(ERG) in temporary traumatic ocular hypotension and to detect the possible mechanism. Method The rabbit model with ocular hypotenstion was made. At the 2nd, 4th, 8th, 16th week after trauma, the ocular tension and ERG was examined. Result Amplitude of b wave in treated group was 2.5 times as high as that in the control at the 2nd week after trauma, and then decrease to 1.5 times as high as that in the control at the 16th week. Conclution Higher amplitude of b-wave of ERG in rabbit with ocular hypotension may be related to blood circulation congestion, which might lead to accumulation of the metabolic toxin.
2.The relationship between changes in activity of Na~+-K~+-ATPase and carbonic anhydrase of ciliary body and traumatic ocular hypotony
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(02):-
Objective To study the changes in the activity of two important enzymes related to the productivity of aqueous humor, namely Na +-K +ATPase and carbonic anhydrase, and to probe further into the mechanism of induction of chronic ocular hypotony by traumatic anterior proliferative vitreoretinopathy. Methods A rabbit model of chronic hypotony induced by traumatic anterior proliferative vitreoretinopathy was reproduced. At the 2nd , 4th, 8th and 16th week after trauma, IOP was measured. Then eyeballs were removed, and a part of ciliary body was harvested for orthodox pathological section and HE staining, and another part of ciliary body was used for determination of Na +-K +ATPase's activity and histochemical assessment of carbonic anhydrase. Result Activity of Na, K-ATPase decreased gradually in the experimental group, but there is no remarkable change in the control group, and the difference was significant. In the experimental group, the activity of carbonic anhydrase was nearly normal, but the activity of carbonic anhydrase in the area of injured epithelium was low, and it was similar to the control. Conclusion Activity of ciliary Na +-K +-ATPase and carbonic anhydrase decrease in activity after traumatic anterior proliferative vitreoretinopathy, which is an important causative factor of chronic hypotony.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that regulate both mRNA and protein expression of target genes and play important roles in proliferation, differentiation, development and metabolism of cells. This paper reviews the research progress on miRNAs involvement in liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, fatty liver, drug induced liver disease, primary biliary cirrhosis and primary hepatocellular carcinoma.

C.citratus has been usedin many countries with a long history.Traditionally,it is applied as a food seasoning in cooking. It is also used in tea beverage and folk medicine as well.Modern application of C.citratus is focused on the development of citronella oil, which can be used for food additives, disinfectants, cosmetics, drugs and etc.C.citratus is also a potential plant in landscaping. Its special lemony flavor contains chemical constituents, mainly including citral, myrcene, linalool, geraniol, nerol, citronellol, and etc.The modern research showed that C.citratus had the main effects of anti-microbial,anti-inflammation,analgesia,anti-oxidation,anti-tumor,anti-anxiety,anti-hypertension,antihyperglycemia,and etc. With further studies, some new pharmacological properties of C.citrates are going to be discovered gradually. It is worthy of further research and development to meet the needs of the health industry.

Objective To study changes of humoral immunity of the premature infants in different pathological conditions and detect the reason of the deficiency of humoral immunity in premature infants .Methods Two hundred and forty-six prematur were enrolled and 30 healthy neonates were selected as control group .The percentages of IgG ,IgA ,IgM and comp lement C3 ,C4 were detected by full automatic biochemical analyzer .Results The results showed that IgG ,IgM ,IgA ,C3 and C4 in the premature in-fants were lower than those in the normal term infants and there was a highly significant difference with the decrease of fetal age . IgG ,IgM ,IgA ,C3 and C4 of the group of the premature infants ranging from 32 to 36 weeks had reduced in different degree ,rela-tive to the groups of BW <2 000 g ,hypertension during pregnancy ,cesarean section(P<0 .05) .Conclusion The results showed that function of humoral immunity in the premature infants was depressed and low gestational age ,low birth weight ,cesarean sec-tion and hypertension during pregnancy may be the leading cause of the deficiency of humoral immunity .

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(1):30-31
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Shengxuenin(SXN) in treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA).Methods 60 cases with IDA from January 2007 to June 2008 were treated with SXN,2 pellets Tid per os for 30 days. The value of erythlrocyte count (RBC),haematoglobin(Hb),hematocrit(HCT),mean corpuscular volume(MCV).mean corpuscular haematoglobin (MCH),mean corpuscular-hemoglobin concentration (MHCH),Reticulocyte(Ret) was observed at the first week, the second week, the third week and the fourth week of the treatment. Results Reficulocyte count started to increase at the lst week and haematoglobin count started to increase at the 2nd week.Haematoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular haematoglobin and mean corpuscular-hemoglobin concentration returned to normal at the 4th week. The gastrointestinal side effects of this thempy were fewer than treated with other chalybeate medicines. Conclusion SXN was effective in the treatment of IDA and had little gastrointestinal side effects.

OBJECTIVETo explore the mechanism of NK cell dysfunction in patients with multiple myeloma (MM).
METHODSThe expression of inhibitory receptors (CD158a and CD158b) and activating receptors NKG2D and NCRs (NKp30, NKp44 and NKp46) on CD3-CD56+NK cell of 13 MM patients and 30 healthy controls were analyzed by flow cytometry. The concentration of soluble NKG2D ligands (MICA, MICB, ULBP1, ULBP2 and ULBP3) in serum was detected by enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the cytotoxicity of NK cell against MM cell line by flow cytometry.
RESULTSThere are no significant differences of percentage and absolute number of NK cells, and the expression level of CD158a and CD158b between MM patients and healthy individuals (P>0.05). No NKp44 expression was detected on fresh isolated NK cells from both groups. There is no difference in inhibitor receptors expression between MM patients and healthy individuals but the expression of NKG2D, NKp30 and NKp46 on NK cells were higher in MM patients as compared with that in healthy individuals. The concentration of soluble NKG2D ligands in serum was higher in MM patients as compared with that in healthy individuals (P<0.05). Cultured healthy individual's NK cells with MM patient's serum could significantly decrease its cytotoxicity against MM cell line U266 cells [(38.5 ± 6.5) % vs (25.4 ± 5.9)%, P=0.044].
CONCLUSIONThe higher level of soluble NKG2D ligands in serum may be the mechanism of NK cell dysfunction in MM patient.
