ObjectiveTo detect the mechanism of the growth inhibition and apoptosis of human acute leukemia cell line U937 cells induced by honokiol.MethedsThe proliferation inhibition was detected by MTT method.Cell apoptosis was tested by Hoechst 33342 staining and flow cytometry with Annexin V/PI staining.RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of the apoptosis gene Bcl-2,Bax,Caspase 3,Caspase 8 and Caspase 9.ResultsThe inhibition effect of honokiol(5 μg/ml,48 h) on U937 cells proliferation could he observed,and the inhibition rate of 10 μg/ml honokiol on cell proliferation reached above 50％ (48 h).U937 cells proliferation could be completely inhibited for 120 h. U937 cells apoptosis rate reached 26.8％ (P ＜0.01)after being treated with 10 μg/ml honokiol.After being treated with 10 μg/ml honokiol for 48 h,the Bcl-2 gene expression in U937 cells was reduced (control group:0.33 ± 0.02,experimental group:0.14 ±0.01,P ＜ 0.01 ),and the Bax gene expression was elevated ( control group:0.1 ± 0.01,experimental group:0.87 ± 0.08,P ＜ 0.01 ).The gene expressions of Caspase 3 ( control group:0.48 ± 0.01,experimental group:0.87±0.06,P ＜0.01),Caspase 8(control group:0.23±0.02,experimental group:0.41 ±0.07,P ＜ 0.01 ) and Caspase 9 ( control group:0.44 ± 0.05,experimental group:0.76 ± 0.06,P ＜ 0.01 ) were all increased.The activity of Caspase-3 was 0.325 ±0.089,which was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P ＜0.01 ).ConclusionHonokiol can significantly inhibit the proliferation and induce cell apoptosis of human acute leukemia cell line U937 cells.The mechanism is related to the up-regulation of Bax and down-regulation of Bcl-2,and the endogenous and exogenous pathways are both inolved in the apoptosis process.

OBJECTIVE To set up a kind of Helicobacter pylori(Hp) detection method which can determine the Hp infection and its clinical value for the digestive diseases.METHODS Gastric biopsy was used with gastric mucosa Hp rapid urease test,Hp-IgG was detected by ELISA,and Hp-DNA of feces by fluorescent gene quantitation method.RESULTS From the 96 patients positively determined by gastric biopsy,the positive rate of Hp-DNA of feces was 95.8%,but the positive rate of Hp-IgG was 47.9%.From the 59 Hp-IgG positive patients,the positive rate of gastric biopsy was 45.8%.CONCLUSIONS Gastric biopsy and HP-DNA quantitation of feces are both reliable methods which can determine the Hp infection,but Hp-DNA quantitation of feces is a simple,rapid,reliable and atraumatic test,it can be put into practice widely and more easily.

Objective: To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in small cell carcinoma of cervis(SCCC) and its relationship with the clinical and pathological features,so as to predict the metastasis of SCCC,to evaluate the prognosis and to manage a proper treatment. Methods: EnVision two step immunohistochemical method was used to observe the expession of VEGF in the samples of small cell carcinoma of cervis. Results: Four samples were obtained from surgical specimens of the patients with SCCC in our hospital.In all the samples,the expression of VEGF was positive. Conclusion: VEGF is closely related with the oncogenesis and development of SCCC.In the earlier period of SCCC,the lymph node involvement and vascular invasion are common.The aggressive progression of SCCC must have something to do with the highly expression of VEGF.The expression of VEGF can be used as an index in selecting treatment and predicting prognosis of SCCC.

Objective To explore the reasonable nursing interventions of advanced schistosomiasis patients. Methods The medical records of 52 advanced schistosomiasis patients hospitalized from 2008 to 2013 were collected,and the nursing interven-tions were summarized. Results The 52 cases of advanced schistosomiasis included 38 men and 14 women,with a mean age of 65.8 years(57-75 years). Totally 53.8%of the subjects were schistosome positive by IHA test,67.3%positive by ELISA,and 21.2%positive of HBsAg. There were 13 cases of ascites type,34 cases of megalosplenia type,and 5 cases of dwarfism type of ad-vanced schistosomiasis. Following the therapy together with nursing interventions,73.1%achieved clinical cure,23.1%achieved stable,and 3.8%achieved improvement. The major nursing interventions involved basic nursing,diet nursing,treatment nursing, physiological nursing and surgical nursing. Conclusion The scientific and reasonable nursing interventions can improve the ther-apeutic efficacy and prognosis in advanced schistosomiasis patients,as well as improve their quality of life.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy ofZi Wu Liu Zhu Na Jia needling (acupuncture based on midnight-noon ebb-flow theory) in treating spastic hemiplegia after cerebral stroke by using surface electromyography (sEMG).Method Fifty-two patients with spastic hemiplegia due to cerebral stroke were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 26 cases each. The two groups were both intervened by conventional rehabilitation training. In addition, the treatment group was givenZi Wu Liu Zhu Na Jia needling and the control group was given ordinary acupuncture. The two groups were treated once a day, 15 sessions as a course. The ambulation ability, muscle tension, neurological deficit score (NDS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale (FMA), and Berg Balance Scale (BBS) were evaluated before the intervention and after 2 treatment courses, and the sEMG signals were also collected and analyzed.Result The Holden's Functional Ambulation Classification (FAC) and Modified Ashworth Scale scores were significantly changed in the two groups after the intervention (P<0.01). After the intervention, the FAC and MAS scores in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05). The NDS, FMA and BBS scores were significantly changed in the two groups after the treatment (P<0.05). The NDS, FMA and BBS scores in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group after the treatment (P<0.05). Of the sEMG signals, H/M max in the treatment group was significantly different from that in the control group after the intervention (P<0.01).Zi Wu Liu Zhu Na Jia needling with rehabilitation training can significantly mitigate the muscle tension and promote the activities of daily living in patients with spastic hemiplegia after cerebral stroke.

BACKGROUND:Recent studies have demonstrated that surgical trauma leads to lipid peroxidation in erythrocytes.However,injured erythrocytes play an important role in thrombosis following replacement.OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the influence of artificial total knee replacement on the lipid peroxdation in erythrocytes,and the prophylactic treatment of vitamin E and fructose 1,6 diphosphate(FDP)on it.DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:Contrast clinical study,which was carried out in the Department of Otthopaedics,Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from January 2003 to June 2006.PARTICIPANTS:Sixty patients with knee osteoarthritis who underwent artificial total knee replacement by anesthesia of epidural block were divided into four groups,including control group,vitamin E group,FDP group and vitamin E+FDP group,with 15 cases in each group.METHODS:Vitamin E was orally taken in the vitamin E group three days before replacement,three times a day,100 mg for each.The administration was performed until the surgical morning.Thirty minutes after the operation,FDP(10 g)was intravenously dripped in the FDP group.Additionally.vitamin E was also orally taken in the vitamin E+FDP group three days before replacement,three times a day,100 mg for each;on the surgical morning,FDP(10 g)was intravenously dripped on the first 30minutes.Blood samples were taken for biochemical determination before and after the operation at 1,3,5,and 7 days.MAIN OUTCOME M[EASURES:Corltents of malonaldehyde(MDA)and cuprum/zincum/superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn-SOD)in the erythrocytes.RESULTS:MDA level in the vitamin E group and FDP group was significantly higher than that in the vitamin E+FDP group before and 5 and 7 days after replacement(P<0.05);while,Cu-Zn-SOD level was significantly lower(P<0.05).Otherwise,there were no significant differences in vitamin E+FDP group before and after replacement(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:The artificial total knee replacement can enhance lipid peroxidation and decrease antioxygen capability.However,the combination of vitamin E and FDP can prevent and relieve lipid peroxidation and antioxygen capability after replacement.

Objective To investigate post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and life quality (QOL) of children and adolescents with cancer,and analyze the correlation between PTSD and QOL and study whether PTSD would influence QOL.Methods We investigated PTSD by using the PTSD-SS,and investigated QOL by using the EORTC QLQ-C30 V3,and the data was performed by SPSS 17.0.Results The PTSD-SS total score and the scores of EORTC QLQ-C30 of function field and of whole life quality field were negatively correlated,and the PTSD-SS total score and the scores in symptom field and six single measurement of EORTC QLQ-C30 were positively correlated.Conclusions PTSD of children and adolescents with cancer was closely related with the poor functional status and the high level of symptoms problem.PTSD has affected QOL.The higher level the PTSD is,the lower level of QOL will be.

The core drugs and compatibility were visually displayed on diagrams which revealed the characteristics of gastric cancer treatment with TCM prescriptions in this hospital with high credibility .
