Microbial fuel cell ( MFC ) is a novel device with the function to produce energy and degrade organic materials. The characteristics of anodic electrochemically active bacteria and catalytic activity are one of key factors to affect MFC performance. This review summarized the enrichment, source, taxonomy, physiological and biochemical characteristics and electricity production ability of electrochemically active bacteria.

Aortic aneurysms involving major visceral arteries or those with short necks are always contraindications to traditional endovascular aortic repair(EVAR).The advent of the fenestrated endovascular aortic repair(F-EVAR)which could exclude aortic aneurysms while presenving blood flow to major organsthrough visceral branches using fenestrated stent-grafts raises the possibility for the treatment of these aorticaneurysms.To update our knowledge,we reviewed the publications on F-EVAR in recent years.

Objective To investigate the signal mechanism of protein kinase C alpha(PKC-α)participated in enhanced expression of type Ⅰ inositol 1,4,5-trisphophate receptors (IP3 RI) induced by tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNFα),in order to delineate the mechanisms of decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in hepatorenal syndrome caused by TNFα.Methods The glomerular mesangial cells (GMCs)line from rats was chosen as experimental material.GMCs were divided into control (D),TNFα-2 h,TNFα-4 h,TNFα-8 h,and TNFα-24 h groups.Moreover,another two groups were sanflngol-8h (S),TNFα + Sanfingol-8h(TS)groups.The effect of TNFα on the expression of IP3RI was detected by immunocytochemical staining,Western blotting,teal time-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays.Results Immunocytochemical staining demonstrated that IP3 RI was mainly distributed in cytoplasm of GMCs.Enhanced positive staining was determined in all TNFα-treated groups,especially in TNFα-8 h group.Western blotting demonstrated that the expression of IP3RI protein was significantly higher in TNFα-4 h,TNFα-8h and TNFα-24 h groups than control group(4 h:1.82 ± 0.63 ; 8 h:2.95 ± 0.66 ; 24 h:2.48 ± 0.72 ; D:1 ±0.02 ; F =9.24,P ＜ 0.05).The expression of IP3 RI protein was the highest in TNFα-8 h and TNFα-24 h groups(P ＜0.05).No difference was found among S,TS,and control groups(S:1.39 ±0.65; TS:1.35± 0.37 ; P ＞ 0.05).Real time-PCR found the expression of IP3 RImRNA was significantly higher in all TNFα-treated groups than control group(2 h:3.35 ± 1.97; 4 h:3.16 ± 1.35; 8 h:3.70 ± 1.76; 24 h:4.49±1.70; D:1 ±0.01; F =6.167,P ＜0.05).No difference was found among all TNFα-treated groups(P ＞0.05).No difference was found among S,TS,and control groups(S:1.53 ±0.79; TS:1.32 ± 0.38 ; P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions IP3 RI was mainly distributed in cytoplasm of GMCs.TNFa could enhance the expression of IP3 RI protein and IP3 RI mRNA,which could be blocked by sanfingol,a PKCα inhibitor.It might be an important signal in the mechanisms of GFR decrease caused by TNFα in hepatorenal syndrome.

Objective: To study the hypoglycemic effects of chromium-enriched compound acidophilous milk in rats with hyperglycemia. Methods: 120 adult Wister rats were randomly divided into Control group, DM group, therapy group and protective therapy group. Each group were fed a basic diet and Control group were intragastric administration with sodium chloride,DM group and therapy group were intragastric administration with ordinary acidophilous milk and protective therapy group were intragastric administration with chromium-enriched compound acidophilous milk. After 15 days, the rats of DM group, therapy group and protective therapy group were given a single shot of alloxan (50 mg per 1 kg), while Control group was given a single shot of sodium chloride (50 mg per 1 kg). After the diabetic model had been induced by alloxan,the rats of therapy group were intragastric administration with chromium-enriched compound acidophilous milk, and other groups had no change. The blood-fasting sugar, sugar tolerance, and glycosylated hemoglobin were examined. Objective: To study the pharmacokinetics of diclofenac sodium microemulsions in human. Methods: According to the crossover design, each volunteer was orally given diclofenac sodium microemulsion and diclofenac sodium tablet. The serum concentrations were determined by RP-HPLC with UV-detector. The concentration-time data were analyzed using 3P87 Pharmacokinetic Program and the pharmacokinetics parameters were compared by paired t-test. Results: It was found that diclofenac sodium in serum was linear within the range of 50-8 000 μg/L. The minimum detection concentration was 30 μg/L. The mean rate of recovery was (100.55±1.56)%. After a single oral dose, AUC0～∞ were 5.563，7.891 μg*h/ml, MRT 5.489， 5.387 h for dispersible diclofenac sodium microemulsion and tablet respectively. Conclusion: Absorption progress of diclofenac sodium microemulsion in human may be special.

12 isolates of thermoacidophilies were obtained from samples of hot springs of Southern China's Guangdong and Yunna provinces. All isolates are heterotrophic. Cells are rods, Gram positive or variable. The optimal pH and temperature for growth are 3.5-5.5 and 43℃-52℃, respectively. Based on their morphological physiological properties and their 16S rDNA sequences, they were identified as members of Alicyclobacillus.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis value of the cytological examination of the cerebrospinal fluid of central nervous system leukemia.Methods Adopting cell smear centrifugal machine to collect the cerebrospinal fluid cells,the cells were stained and examinated under the microscope.Results Fifty-nine children with different type of leukemia had been examinated by 438 times by cerebrospinal fluid.The positive rates of the cases and samples were 15.3% and 8.7%,respectively.Conclusion The cytological examination of cerebrospinal fluid is especially valuable for the early diagnosis ,therapy and relapse of central nervous system leukemia of monitoring.

In this article we report the results on the synthesis and accumulation of PHAs by Rhodocista pekingensis (strain 3-p), a phototroph that was isolated from wastewater treatment plant. Our results showed that the optimal conditions for PHAs accumulation with strain 3-p were as following: 0.01% Yeast Extract, 0.01% NH 4Cl, Acetate 5 g/L, and medium pH of 7.0～7.2.Under optimized conditions, strain 3-p accumulated PHAs up to 60% of its cellular dry weight. Enzymatic activities of ?-ketothiolase, acetoacetyl-CoA reductase, and PHA polymerase were detected and their activities increased as PHA synthesis initialized. Based on these study, we proposed the metabolic pathway of this strain should be:Acetate (or other fatty acids) - Acetyl-CoA --- thiolase Acetoacetyl-CoA --- reductase D (-)-?-Hydroxybutyryl-CoA ----- PHA polymerase PHAs.
