In recent years, along with social economic development and population aging, more and more fracture patients have received internal fixation and artificial joint replacement.Postoperative infection related to orthopedic implants is a catastrophic complication which imposes serious psychological, physiological and economic burdens on the patients. Therefore,it is necessary to be able to make an early diagnosis of the infection. However, diagnosis of implant-related infection is always a clinical problem for orthopedists.Currently,it is thought to be a valuable way to judge orthopedic implant infection by monitoring inflammatory cytokines. This article will offer an overview on the progress in research of diagnosis values of different inflammatory cytokines in postoperative infection related to orthopedic implants.
2.Intramedullary pin versus plate for treatment of displaced mid-shaft clavicle fractures: a meta-analysis
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2014;16(7):591-598
Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of intramedullary pin versus plate fixation for displaced mid-shaft clavicle fractures. Methods The databases,PubMed,CENTAL and CBM,were searched according to the standards of the Cochrane Collaboration for all the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and clinical controlled trials (CCTs) comparing intramedullary pin with plate fixation for treatment of displaced mid-shaft clavicle fractures. In addition, hand search was also conducted in relevant journals.Time limit for search was from the beginning till December 2013.Trial quality was assessed using the modified Jadad scale and effective data were pooled for Meta analysis with software RevMan5.2.7,including wound infection, hospital stay, wound size, intraoperative blood loss, operation duration, implant irritation, implant problems, delayed union, malunion, nonunion, total complications and Constant scoring. Results Three RCTs and 7 CCTs with 697 patients were included in our study. The modified Jadad scoring showed fine quality of the 10 trials.Intramedullary fixation was significantly superior to plate fixation in wound size, intraoperative blood loss, operation duration, hospital stay, wound infection, and symptomatic hardware (P < 0.05),but led to a significantly higher rate of implant problems (P < 0.05).However,no significant differences were identified in total complication rate, delayed union, nonunion, malunion or Constant score (P > 0.05).Conclusions The superiority of intramedullary fixation for displaced mid-shaft clavicle fracture lies in its advantages of minimally invasion, such as limited incision, less intraoperative bleeding, shorter operation time and hospital stay, less wound infection and implant irritation.Ahhough intramedullary fixation may lead to a higher rate of implant problems,it shows no significant differences from plate fixation in bone healing and functional recovery.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(17):3226-3231
With the development of natural products, the research activities on the solubilization methods of water-insoluble natural products have been carried out worldwide. Big molecular weight and poor solubility of most natural active ingredients lead to a very poor oral absorption and low bioavailability, which has extremely limited their development in pharmaceutical fields and clinical application. As a result, it is necessary to find out a suitable technique to improve the solubility and enhance the oral bioavailability of insoluble natural drugs. Based on the related references published in these years, this review introduced some new techniques to improve the solubility and bioavailability of natural drugs, including prodrugs, inclusion complex, solid dispersion, cocrystals, osmotic pump, liquisolid compacts, micronization, self-microemulsifying, nanosuspensions, lipsomes, polymeric micelles and so on, and summarized the theory, characteristics, application range, application examples, problems and development direction of each technique.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2006;0(17):-
Objective To explore the effects of hepatocyte growth-promoting factor(pHGF) on renal function and cell apoptosis in kidney of rats with renal ischemia reperfusion injury(IRI).Methods Thirty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups:sham-operated control group(groupⅠ),renal ischemia reperfusion control group(groupⅡ),one experimental group injecting pHGF(50 mg/kg,intraabdominal injection) before renal IRI(group Ⅲ),and another experimental group injecting pHGF(50 mg/kg,intraabdominal injection) after renal IRI(group Ⅳ).The animals with renal IRI exposed to 45 min bilateral renal pedicle clamping. All ischemia reperfusion rats in group Ⅰ and Ⅱ were intraabdomially injected equal volume of physiological saline(0.8 mL) at the time when the rats in experimental groups were administered 50 mg/kg pHGF.Twelve hours after IRI,samples for serum and the left renal tissue of each animal were taken. The serum sample was used to detect expression of serum creatinine(Scr),and the renal tissue sample for evaluation of apoptosis. Results Compared with the level of Scr in groupⅠ(22.775?6.508) ?mol/L,Scr was markedly higher in groupⅡ(120.850?22.237) ?mol/L(P0.05).Conclusions The laboratory investigation suggests that pHGF might be an effective pharmacological agent against renal IRI according to the findings of the evaluated parameters, and protective effect by pHGF against renal IRI might involved in the mechanisms decreasing tubular cells apoptosis. It is likely that pHGF is a potential therapentic agent in clinical renal IRI circumstances.

Spices have enjoyed a long history and a worldwide application. Of particular interest is the pharmaceutical value of spices in addition to its basic seasoning function in cooking. Concretely, equipped with complex chemical compositions, spices are of significant importance in pharmacologic actions, like antioxidant, antibacterial, antitumor, as well as therapeutical effects in gastrointestinal disorders and cardiovascular disease. Although increasing evidences in support of its distinct role in the medical field has recently reported, little information is available for substantive, thorough and sophisticated researches on its chemical constituents and pharmacological activities, especially mechanism of these actions. Therefore, in popular wave of studies directed at a single spice, this review presents systematic studies on the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities associated with common used spices, together with current typical individual studies on functional mechanism, in order to pave the way for the exploitation and development of new medicines derived from the chemical compounds of spice (such as, piperine, curcumin, geniposide, cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, linalool, estragole, perillaldehyde, syringic acid, crocin).
